Bring the Fro Back to the Bay

I think it's about time the Bay Area reacquainted itself with Joshua Malik Childress. He's got the size & quickness to defend multiple positions, and he's only his current team's second favorite restricted free agent. The Hawks say they'll match any offers for him, but I'm not so sure they will if they have to match a huge Philadelphia offer to Josh Smith first.I understand why Nellie may like Corey Maggette, but adding a one-dimensional scorer to a team that is already as defensively deficient as the Dubs makes me nervous. Childress, on the other hand, can help at both ends of the floor. Of course, we've got the money: I wouldn't be opposed to signing them both. Isn't the offseason fun?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Childress and Iguodala

Would be a damn fine offseason haul, and probably affordable. Both Pac10 kids, both superversatile, defensive-minded, unselfish, young and athletic. Both born to play Nellieball.

Throw in Shaun Livingston (who must be available since the Clips took on that mercurial vet PG from So. Central), and flip Harrington for Varejão (giving us a legit backup 4-5, and easing our logjam of “versatile” forwards).

Monta/Livingston
Iguodala/Belinelli/Buki (?)
Jackson/Childress/Randolph
Wright/Hendrix
Biedrins/Sideshow

Not sure if that’s better than a .500 team out of the gate — maybe not in the West. But it is unbelievably athletic and long, with potential to be frighteningly good defensively. And the upside, if Monta/AB continue to blossom and Wright and/or Randolph reach their potential, is through the roof.

Sign ^^^^ !!

I like that offseason plan a lot

Maybe even look to trade Captain Jack? clear more time for the young guys, and I’m a little worried what an unhappy Jackson on a struggling rebuilding team might mean. Seems like he’d have some value to a contender.

Totally agree

I think now is a strange time for the Cap’n and the Dubs, and I think that the beard was essential to him being a leader and model citizen.

Fear the Fro

We should most definately bring the Fro back to the bay.

If

Monta
Iggy
Jax
Wright
Biedrins

If this is our starting 5, we’re in trouble. Varejao is weak and can’t score. Still think we need a pure PG and Livingston, I doubt will ever come back from that knee injury which is why Dunleavy was courting Beno and ultimately Baron.

I agree with Sleepy

That young team would be great to watch and it has great potential. Apart from Jackson, who is 30, the oldest players would be Childress and Varejao, who are just 25. I can see why sam23 suggests trading Jackson but I think he would be worth keeping as he is still an excellent defender, he will probably be our team captain and he would be the only experienced player on the team. I don’t think he will be unhappy here – I understand that Baron leaving might not please him but I think he likes playing in Northern California and I think he would enjoy leading that young team.

Trade the beards for the Fro's but JAX needs to stay,

JAX is the heart of this team, he has a commanding presence and I think Harrington is even going to step up and help this year, I would love to take a chance on Livingston but maybe 3 mil this year and team option next, Bid up J-smooth and then swoop in on Childress, make a play for crittenton, lets hope we can be productive with this cap space…

to clarify

I wasnt trying to say we ought to absolutely trade Jack, just that it might be something to consider if we can get good young value in return.
