The Perfect Next PG
Why hasnt anyone brought up the name Ray Felton? To me he is the perfect PG for the warriors at the moment. He is a pass first type which would work well with all of our scorers, and with the bobcats picking up DJ Augustin from Texas in the draft, it seems like they could part with him. I know hes known to be an injury risk but so was baron davis. Obviously hes not the talent of BD but still I think hes a better option than anyone else mentioned so far like Kirk Heinrich or Crittenton. We need to focus on bringing in someone for this guard position and forget the option of monta as our PG. I love monta but thats just not his game.

yea but
how do we land him? Heinrich and Crittenton are much more available. As of now Larry Brown is saying he wants Augustin and Felton there and even if he changes his mind, what can we offer Charlotte? Al probably isnt going to get that deal done.

why not al?
I think the majority of teams would take AL for Felton in a heartbeat. If not AL then why not like a future 2nd rounder instead? We must have the pieces to make this deal somehow right??

I have a tough time being overly objective about Felton because he led my Tar Heels to a championship and will for that always have favor with me, but I do think he’s an interesting possibility. He’s ridiculously fast on the dribble and would have no trouble keeping up with a fast paced gunning offense, but he’s not a terribly accurate shooter and needs to get to the rack to keep his offense up. Then again, neither was Baron particularly accurate.
The problem with Al for Felton is that the salaries are off in the wrong direction. Charlotte would need to dump more salary in order to have space to absorb him. They’d have to give up at least $3.14million in addition to Felton. Their options for that are limited. May and Jermareo Davidson works and I’d be intrigued with May. He’s a solid interior scorer and when healthy provides a big man who can function in a transition offense. Don’t let the girth fool you. He’s remarkably quick. His problem is that the odds of him being healthy are real, real low. I’m not sure that Charlotte is ready to part with that much to get Harrington either. Another possibility would be that we absorb more salary and agree to take on more salary from them, but I don’t think the contracts there (G.Wallace or N. Mohammed) are ones that they’re eager to move. Either means our cap situation starts getting less rosy.

You don't
need to worry about the salary cap when both teams are under the cap. Plus a 2nd rounder for Felton? We’d have to try harder than that cuse. I don’t think Al would cut it for Jordan and Brown.

True, if both teams are under the cap, the matching salaries don’t matter. My concern is with Charlotte. Don’t rely on the Hoopshype numbers. They may not be under the cap until after Okafor signs. Right now his cap hold is over 13 mil. When you factor in that, plus the salary for Augustin that already gets assigned to the cap and they’re real close to the cap. If it’s a low number (57 mil) they’re probably over. If it’s a high number (59+), it’s probably ok. But in any event, it’s real, real close and a deal bringing back Harrington would put them over, so it’s not possible to just call it a wash.

You're probably right
about having to take on Nazr’s contract.
Nazr + Felton for Al sounds about right.

size & defense
a lot of people have mentioned felton in other threads, but the question is just what it will take to get him. just because they picked up dj augustin doesn’t mean they’re gonna throw away raymond felton for nothing.
the only thing i am hesitant about for felton are his size and defense. is he big enough and a good enough defender to play alongside monta? if so, (and even if not) if we can get him at a reasonable “price” i would go for it because he can definitely run with the team and would be a huge upgrade at the pg position (considering we have nobody right now—unless you count cj watson)

it
would make warriors really small in backcourt, but it’s worth it , when you DON’T HAVE A POINT GUARD!!!!

dump randolph and harrington on them
but I’d much prefer mike conley jr.

conley
fast and intriguing….but he’s be way too small when paired in a backcourt with monta to guard ANY other guard tandem. he might make a good third guard, but they’d want to much for him to use him in such a limited roll, i figure

how is a bad shooting, undersized PG,
who lead his team to a 32-50 record in the Leastern conference and the 23rd best record out of 30 in the NBA, the perfect next PG??
