Why Brand is signing with Dubs, or is he that dumb?
okay, this is the only time I will post something like this. 20 million dollars is a lot of dollars for someone who has maybe 7-8 years left in their career tops. Unless he is beyond belief stupid, which may be the case, living in LA all those years. Collusion? Yes… but money talks and BS walks… if you know what I mean. They are certainly not a "Boston" type movement in LA. They aren’t even comparable to the Lakers. Let alone a Boston movement. Now seriously, if Brand isn’t STRONGLY considering coming to the Warriors, I would be very shocked. You drive up to my house with a dumptruck of money and say, "hey come play with my for the next 5 years" I dont care who you are, I would fly to see you and our "dream" of a championship to make our movies together. We could even make a basketball movie about our imaginary championship. Because, forgive me now… but the Clippers with Baron and Elton, are not contenders for a title. He would have a better opportunity with the Warriors, up and coming and a good draft next year, a free agent signing the year after that, with all the true "ballers" All-stars. You have to also look at the avail of money for the warriors vs. the clippers in 2010. Warriors, even with Brand, have more signing ability. Did I mention Ellis? The game is not won by the point guard. Do you want proof and point? See… Stephen Jackson, see the Celtics, see the Lakers. I vote yes on Brand to the Dubs… Why is this? we have been courting him since before his injury. Last point- money is money. The reason he is playing is for money. So, I bet you will hear this statement by Friday. "My dream of championship looked good on paper, but it wasn’t PAPER" Ya digg!

Maybe he likes his lifestyle down there and doesn’t care that much about the money?
12 mil per year or 16 mil per year doesn’t really change your living standard. Brand could already have all the money he could possibly spend for the rest of his life so maybe he’ll make the choice based on his personal situation and off court activities? I wish him well where ever he ends up, but I’d like to see the results of a season of Boom and Brand so I’m pulling for the Clips in this deal. Brand without Baron wouldn’t make us a winning team anyway so we might as well enjoy their show from a distance.

I suspect that he’s thinking about the money, but in reality, is making 95mil going to make his life appreciably different from making 75mil (both on top of the 80+ he’s made in his career already)?

unless you're Bill Gates
you have a use for more money.

on a sidenote
you start off with
okay, this is the only time I will post something like this.but you already posted this on sarangc’s “Trying too hard?” fanpost.
there’s really no need for all these NEW will he or won’t he fanposts… we’ll have our answer in a day and a half. i still think it’s incredibly naive to believe this wasn’t all preplanned from the start. and btw, the issue isn’t whether we think they can win a championship, it’s that Brand believes they can.
but the main reason this post fails so badly is that even though the circumstances are a little different, we just had an example of gilbert taking 16 million less than he was offered. and technically, the circumstances already favored Brand to be the one to take less money.

if you feel that way, why did you respond. and technically, Gilbert took more than the Warriors could offer. Just less from his team that offered him more.

um... i responded
to let u know…
either way he still took less money.
usually, i’d agree w/ your sentiment, all i’m saying is that it’s not unprecedented for players/agents to take less money even if it’s in the 15-20 mill dollar range.

maybe they can sign and trade Magette for Ronron? I’d like to see that team play.

Like minded
I wrote a similar blog 2 days ago and I can’t agree more. These people saying the $ won’t change his life, really. $15-20 Million is gonna change anyone’s life, aside form the fact that he is a movie producer and it takes all of 45 minutes to fly to LA. He can use that money to make some crappy movie. People hear all these figures and don’t grasp that amount of cash. I have heard that after the figures are in, the Clippers can let go of a few guys or at least their rights and offer more money. $5-10 million is still alot but I can see him passing that up in order to play with the Clips, but it’s a joke this notion that he can win in LA. They aren’t gonna win a title in LA the Clippers have a history of building failure not dynasty’s.So why not take the money and build failure $20 M richer?
