UPDATE - ESPN's Marc Stein: "Sixers very much in mix to land Brand"

A new update from ESPN's Marc Stein about the Philly 76er camp working the phones like crazy to create a deal that would send Elton Brand to the East Coast in Philadelphia.

This would not only bring Brand closer to his home in the East Coast, but also give him a young nucleus of Andre Miller, Andre Iguodala and Samuel Dalembert.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3477424

More drama for everyone. And 24 hours to go before we get the best indication for Brand's intentions for his future NBA team.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Wow

But the sixers can only give him as much as the clips. Only incentive for him to sign there is closer to home. Doesn’t make much sense. We’ll see…

Playoffs!!??

by PAWarrior on Jul 7, 2008 11:56 PM PDT   0 recs

I see it as.

Easy way to the playoffs= Eastern Conference
Hard way to the playoffs= Western Conference

Other than that.. it’s all about money… and we got more than the Clips And The 76ers.. If Brand does not sign with us being because of the reasons above then I really think DubLand is the LAST team to be on every NBA players mind.

by mont8ellis on Jul 8, 2008 12:01 AM PDT   0 recs

warriors = most money
philly = easiest way to playoffs
clippers = best team & baron davis

by gogoldenbears on Jul 8, 2008 8:41 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

if philly

lands brand, what will be the status for iggy? i think we can make a serious run on him if sixers spend all their money to get brand

by GSwarrior on Jul 8, 2008 12:20 AM PDT   0 recs

hmm

how about getting rodney carney? if this rumor is correct, then the sixers are looking to move him. he would be a great fit in the warriors uptempo offense for sure.

by llamalimbo1 on Jul 8, 2008 12:24 AM PDT   0 recs

yea

but I think Memphis will swoop in and grab him. He’d be a fan fave having played his college ball there and they have the cap space to take him on and give up only a draft pick in return

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 9:50 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

nevermind

looks like he just got dealt to Minny along with Calvin Bootha and a 1st round pick in exchange for Minny’s TPE.

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 10:17 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

hey at least someone knows how to use a TPE

since our front office apparently had no clue what to do with their $10 million one (by comparison, Minnesota had a $2.5 million TPE)

by Hac Man on Jul 8, 2008 11:25 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

hahaha

this is kinda tight… this makes everything more interested. yes it sucks that another team is in the mix, but this lets us know that brand is definitely weighing his options and that leaving LA is an option.

So much can happen if we land Brand or not. Doubt we will get AI (even though i want him the most) but if the clips have to pay more for Brand they would most likely loose magette and if the sixers go after Brand, they wouldn’t be able to go after josh smith. IDK i think the warriors will do something big here.

by Agent Zero on Jul 8, 2008 12:37 AM PDT   0 recs

could simply be

Brand just trying to quell those rumors of collusion between himself, Baron, their agent and the Clips.

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 9:51 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

yup

exactly its all bullshit ….and looking at this board it seems like its working. Good show brand GOOD MOTHER FREAKING SHOW.

You know...

I betcha Steven A Smith (ESPN) is working the phone like crazy right now haha.

I hate Steven A Smith with a passion.

Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.

Smith?

did you see the sock puppet interview last draft?

actually I was very impressed

before this years finals Bill said he thought Boston would win because the Laker small forwards (Luke included) couldnt handle Pierce. I still cant stand him as an announcer, but that gave him a tiny bit of credibility in my mind.

C'mon

How can you not like classic lines like “Throw it down big man!”...or the uncanny resemblence to Jackie Moon?

by kenntoe on Jul 8, 2008 1:18 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

did you see

the clip of Jackie Moon vs. Walton? good stuff. But I find it impossible to watch a game from start to finish when Walton is announcing.

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 1:21 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Is there any chance

that Brand leaving for Philly would make Baron reconsider? I know its highly doubtful….but a guy can dream.

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 10:19 AM PDT   0 recs

No way Baron's coming back.

He has too much pride to ever come crawling back.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

by kenntoe on Jul 8, 2008 1:19 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

true

he’d probably suck it up enjoy the money and LA lifestyle and try to carry the clips to .500

by sam23 on Jul 8, 2008 1:20 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

If Brand Signs With 76ers

How much cap space does that give the clippers?

by Squall on Jul 8, 2008 10:42 AM PDT   0 recs

If this happens

then we should try really hard to snag Iguodala or try and trade for Carney either way because either one would be our starter at shooting guard and if Carney went to Memphis where he went to college, he wouldn’t be a starter because of Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo. So his best option is to be traded to us in a deal like this http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=299531903021&teams=92020&te=&cash=

then we would have a starting lineup of PG Monta, SG Carney, SF Stephen Jackson, PF Al/Wright/maybe Smith, C Biedrins

by duballers23 on Jul 8, 2008 11:52 AM PDT   0 recs

Good News?

The fact that he is considering other offers looks good for us. We can offer the most money and with the news (shocking news IMO) that the Clipps will not restructure Baron’s deal to give Brand more money I think that the chances of us landing him are going up. If he does go to philly it might make it easier for us to make a play on Iggy too (we would have to overpay). It should be an interesting weeks and at this point nothing would surprise me.

Shhoot.

I’m actually surprised that people around here actually believed that Brand would come to the Warriors. $20M is a lot of money, and i’m sure he thought long, and hard over it, but he’s made a ton of money, is still going to make a ton of money, and is now looking out for his family (by looking East).

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

Philly just sent Carney, Booth, and a future draft pick to Minny to clear up cap room. Looks like the stars are aligning for the Sixers to sign Brand and then re-sign Iggy.

It never occurred to me that one man could play with the faith of 50 million.

Bad News?

I just saw outside the lines on ESPN and they said he has lost all intrest in going to the dubs! I hope he is wrong! Deron movement 2009

by kaisersoulzae8 on Jul 8, 2008 1:01 PM PDT   0 recs

You are in for sure disappointment

if you think SLC is letting Deron out of their hands.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

by kenntoe on Jul 8, 2008 1:20 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

uh?

I thought he was a r-free agent. If we have the money we can get him

by kaisersoulzae8 on Jul 8, 2008 1:23 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Deron

Where is DeeRon from? Maybe that will factor into his decision, everyone will offer him big bucks.
