Trade With New York
Ok i really really dislike Stephon Marbury, i mean honestly he is a disease, but if i am not mistaken he has an expiring contract. So why not trade Al Harrington for Marbury and a future pick or two? Marbury could at least help Monta to run the point this year while he learns the ropes. To top it off he would be done next year and we would have a pick or two to show for it. I would be happy to part with Al if we got Marbury, a first round pick, and maybe even a second round pick. I read in some other post that if we traded Al we would have 18 million in cap space which is just enough to take Marbury.

?%#!@
would people STFU already about Marbury. He hasn’t played well in over 3 years and is set to make 18mil…why would anybody who knows a spec about basketball advocate trading for him? Especially for a productive player like AL. Moreover, whoever wrote this post admits he is a disease but he still wants him?????? LOL WHY DO YOU WANT A DISEASE… because its an expring contract? DO THE MATH EINSTEIN al makes 9 mil a year and multiply is by two and you get the same 18 Mil Marbary is making. You would be taking a 9 mil hit this year (money we need for monta and a bench) to avoid a 9 mil hit next year. Makes no difference. Thinking before speaking is always a good thing…just because its a public foru doesn’t mean you should enlighten the world to your moronic ideas

The only way Marbury works...
Is if he gets bought out and wants to come play for the W’s at the veteran minimum around $1 mil. At that price, you can bench him/buy him out if he truly is the disease that most say.
Of course Marbury will want to play for a contender if he gets bought out, so I don’t see this happening.
Fitz and Brooks were just talking about this on the radio, saying it could happen.

I know that he hasn’t played very well recently, but the fact that we would have a potential lottery pick from NY coupled with our pick could help us to or move up to nab one of the better point guards in next years draft or just address two needs of ours with first rounders. Not to mention that even if Marbury stinks to high hell, he will still bring some PG experience to the table. Maybe i didn’t make it clear enough that this trade would be for the draft picks. so here goes nothing, this trade is for PICKS. Also at this point we aren’t really crying for money to resign Monta and Biedrins and its not like we are making any offers on other free agents.

I actually would be interesting in this deal
here’s my reasoning
1. Harrington will probably start even though we need to use a lot of court time to get Wright and Randolph playing and improving, so he’s cutting into that.
2. After this season can anyone see us re-signing him? If we had a dominate center and want to place a decent forward next to him for a decent price then sure, but that isn’t the case. He won’t be back.
3.No trades that fit our needs seem to be out there; all the all-star PF’s are pretty set with there teams right now.
4.By doing this we basically use the extra money we have+ how much we would have paid to harrington this year to cover marbury’s contract. If he sucks, whatever, we wouldn’t be very far with harrington anyway. Also, if we could pick up a first round draft pick, we are basically getting a pick from new york for relieving them of about 20 million, 10 million from the difference in the contracts and 10 million in lux taxes. And we all know new york is still rebuilding so the pick should be pretty low, atleast top 10.
(if my math with the lux tax was wrong let me know, but im pretty sure thats how it works out)

People will stop talking about Marbury as soon
as the rest of the idiots stop talking about Crittenton and his size but no skills and Livingston and his one leg. ( which could also blow out the next time he goes up for an uncontested layup)

he does have a large expiring contract
Worst case scenario we eat his contract and his contract comes off the books for the next off-season. Best case scenario he realizes he needs to play well this year to get paid and he plays up to his very high ability as our starting point guard.
Mullin has taken some gambles on “damaged goods” in the past so this actually isn’t that crazy. It also saves the Knicks a lot of money for this year since they’re well into the luxury tax. Knicks fans pretty much hate Marbury too.

ok
so I hate Marbury and dont want him anywhere near this team…...buuuut if we received a 1st round draft choice next year I might consider putting up with him for a year. At least Nellie could probably keep him in line somewhat. Having multiple picks in next years draft would allow us a lot of flexibility and a chance to possibly move up. Plus NY could be really really bad again as they try to adjust to D’Antoni’s system. They are headed the right direction but it could take them a couple years.
