Don Nelson's Projected Lineup

Taken from Janny Hu's most recent blog entry...

Apparently Nelson and Baron dont hate each other that bad and even smoked cigars together...i figured Baron for more of a blunt guy...but anyway, here is what Nelson told Hu his lineup will look like as of now.....the only mysterious part of it is the lack of Kelenna....possible hint that we wont be resigning him?

Nellie's projected lineup:

PG: Monta Ellis, C.J. Watson
SG: Stephen Jackson, Marco Belinelli
SF: Corey Maggette, Anthony Randolph
PF: Al Harrington, Brandan Wright
C: Andris Biedrins, (*Ronny Turiaf)

I don’t hate that lineup. I read Harrington is buddies with Maggette so maybe he won’t want out now. He isn’t bad to hang on to if he’s happy.

Anyone see Bogut’s contract? 5 years $72 mil?!

okay

So this is all starting to make a little bit of sense.

I still wouldn’t be surprised if we kept ‘Buike… as a practical matter, I’d imagine he’d get more run as our backup SF than Randolph, who honestly might be well-served to spend part of next year in the D-League.

That is a fairly presentable lineup, as long as Monta can play point. If he can, I think it’s actually not much worse than what we had last year. Losing Baron hurts, but Maggette’s a capable scorer… our backcourt defense should improved, and our rebounding, while still shitty, should profit from Jack moving to the 2.

The biggest variable, as ever, is Al. If he sticks around, I’d really worry about Wright’s minutes, as Nellie just always seems to fall back on shooters when push comes to shove. I’m fonder than most here of Al, but I don’t see him as a great fit for this team at this point. Maggette is a more consistent version of him.

We definitely need another PG caddy for Monta, and another big body wouldn’t hurt. But I don’t hate this team. Essentially it’d put us in the position of most NBA teams: we’ll go as far as our best young player can take us. A lot will be riding on Monta’s li’l shoulders.

We don't need a true point.

It will probably just look a little different. The offense won’t just go through a true point. I’m sure we’ll see Jackson and Ellis bringing the ball up a lot of the time.

If you haven’t checked it out yet check out Zack Vank’s recommended diary on point guards…or the lack of a true go-to point guard on the majority of the past 20 or so NBA championship teams.

another pickup

i say sign and trade Kelenna for Marcus Williams of the Nets, check out my earlier post, (trade idea for GS to get decent PG of future) that explains the deal in more terms… that will give us a young talented bonafide PG with plenty of potential and bright future

lineup isnt as good as last years but im still satisfied with it.

im kinda surprised buike isnt there. hes on of my favorite players and would much rather see him backing up 2/3 than dandolph. if that happens nellie can put buike/jack or bellinelli/maggete together throughout the game. our depth seems quite thin and full of “potential” so why not bring back kelenna? so far, i think buike has proven to be in this team as much as all other bench players.

buike has proven to be in this team as much as all other bench players.

The problem is Bukkake doesn’t have any flaws in his game so Nelson won’t use him. Nelson thrives on do it the hardest possible way, everyone else playing big, he’ll play small, etc.

the only difference

with this lineup is we have maggette instead of Davis. however, ellis and biedrins shuold both be much better, jackson can play his best position at shooting guard, and we should have a better bench with wright and belinelli both getting better

dare i say that this team will be better than last years?

I wouldn’t go so far just yet… Baron led this team in a number of a ways that’ll be sorely missed, at least at first. And while we don’t necessarily need a true point guard, it may take a while for the team to adjust to Monta filling that slot.

But I think it’s still in the 40-45 win ballpark, and should be able to stay at least at that level for a couple years… that wouldn’t be bad, considering the blindsiding of the Baron thing.

ellis and biedrins should both be much better

Why would losing one of the best point guards in the league make them better? Do you think Boom was just there for looks?

Ben Gordon!!!

I say we go after him that way him and monta can designate at the 1 nd 2! he can move the only problem is that hes not too big.

NEED A PG

I Must Emphasize This Enough. Monta CANNOT Play The 1. I Played Against Him When He Was At Lanier And What He Does Best Is Shoot The Ball And Isos… He Cannot Be PG Because He Needs To Shoot And Is Not A Good Enough Player To Do That Job. I Do Like The Potency OF The Lineup But I Do Not Like Monta Running Nellie Ball And Al Shooting Like He Still Plays The Three.

Maybe we should sign you up then to play point?

Capitalizing every word does not make your point stronger. It discourages people from reading it. Regular rules of grammar and punctuation facilitate communication. Deviating from them at key times can add a desired effect but doing it as a rule just makes people’s eyes glaze over. Seriously, you may as well just type Word Word Word Word Word.

by jae on Jul 9, 2008 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

your lying about playing against him

I don’t think so, Check out the way he capitalized every first letter of every word, that takes finger skills similar to point guarding.

your seriously retarded. and if ur not lying then ur obviously jus jealous

we played against demarcus nelson in HS and hella people tried to say he wasnt that good blah blah even when it was obvious he was the hands down best player on the court. and montas a hell of alot better than demarcus

And suddenly the backcourt looks pretty big.

This lineup doesn’t show figure in Turiaf. If Turiaf ends up a Warrior, is there still room for Harrington AND Wright?

That lineup will not

scare anybody. We are going to be the last year’s Blazers…. and not make the playoffs again.

brb, going to ORACLE
