Scouting Reports Galore
Holy crap. Draft Express just dropped a ridiculous scouting report on the Warriors. They break down every non-rookie and non-sophomore with an overview as well as an analysis of their offense and defense. If you have a good chunk of time on your hands, jump on over to the scouting reports or consume them one player per day, whatever fits your fancy.

Maggette and Turiaf's Defense
Maggette:
A average defensive player who has the athleticism to be a whole lot more. Has the athleticism and strength to defend almost any perimeter player. Displays great lateral quickness. Doesn’t always get in a good defensive stance or close out hard. Contests shots, but appears a bit disinterested defensively. Will make an effort when he knows he has to. Good rebounder for his position. Commits quite a few fouls for a guard.
Turiaf:
A very good defender who plays with enough energy for two players. Fights tooth and nail for position on the block. Does a great job contesting post shots. Very aggressive. Will commit some fouls just by the nature of his game. Moves his feet well and does a good job denying penetration when his man gets the ball in the high post. Always boxes out and pursues rebounds. Excellent shot blocker. Will get on the floor when the ball gets loose in the lane. Great motor. Defensive intensity matches the way he approaches the game in general.
Here’s hoping this means well play a little, and I mean a LITTLE more defense this season.
A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.
if you really want some defense...
..try this:

...aussies won…
Regarding Ellis:
Has improved his shooting stroke, but isn’t always consistent.
Funny, I thought Monta’s mid-range jumper was one of the most consistent offensive weapons on the team last year.
Adoptive father of howtheyscored. The beatings will begin momentarily.
Al
Did he really say TMNT is a good finisher?
wat?
I’m not trying to be a prick, but how does one scouting report signify “scouting reports galore.”?
It’s more like, hey check out this one scouting report.
LOL
My evil plan is working…
No really, I just meant that there were a lot of scouting reports. You can look at it as one per player or a lot for the team. A lot words per player as well.

Those reports have some glaring holes
On the whole, they’re pretty solid (especially the Jack one), but these are real head scratchers:
On Andris Biedrins:
Decent passer for a player his size.
Huh? He barely passes and never averaged more than 1.1 apg You cannot run an offense through him by any means. Good passers at his size are KG and Lamar Odom.
Good weakside shot blocker. Very tough on the block. Uses leverage to push his man off his spot… effective one-on-one in close in comparison to the average player.
What games were they watching? Biedrins is simply too soft on D and does not protect the paint. He cannot guard that many 4’s and 5’s one on one. (Part of the reason I’d wait a season and see if he improves in that area before saddling him with a long term expensive contract).
On Monta:
Could stand to work on his point guard skills, although he’s not turnover prone at all.
Two years ago this was a major problem for him, but last year he really cut down on those. This season we’ll see if that’s just cause he was mostly a finisher/ slasher/ scorer last season.
Has improved his shooting stroke, but isn’t always consistent.
Agree with the good folks above. I was incredibly impressed with his consistent midrange jumper. Give the guy his props. He worked hard on that.
A mediocre defender, as he lacks both size and length at the shooting guard position and isn’t aided in the least bit his poor fundamentals.
Mediocre? Try terrible. Every night it’s a worry he’s going to give up a career night to the player he’s guarding.
On Al:
Effort and body language is extremely poor at times.
You know I never really thought that. I thought Al was trying hard and a positive locker room and on court presence. I’ll pay more attention to that this season.
Good finisher at the rim. Has great instincts for how to put the ball in the rim.
You kidding? I would say this is the single biggest part of his scoring abilities that’s holding him back. He just can’t finish around the rim at all. It’s like he needs to get a few more inches off the ground.

1. a lot of first passes in fastbreak comes exactly from AB since he is Warriors best rebounder
2.nobody asks him to pass in offensive end because he rarely gets ball in situation where any other player can finish better then he
Biedrins is simply too soft on D and does not protect the paint. He cannot guard that many 4’s and 5’s one on one.
1. i haven’t seen Biedrins last season having this luxury guard a lot of centers 1:1 -this is not the way Warriors playing
but
2. he did great job @ Orlando in second half -just blocking Dwight Howard out of the paint by leverage -one of the main reasons why Warriors won that game IMO (also Baron jinx was great the story )
3. he was good at 1:1 against Duncan when Warriors won @ home in OT
i suspect you don’t follow a lot how Biedrins is playing D -you just think he is too soft -and always thought so -yeah -skinny white guy is the best scapegoat

Atma? You watch a different game?
The man leads the league in shooting percentage becuase he finishes everything he gets his hands on around the hole. What game are you watching?

That’s a joke right?

I thought the same thing after watching him for a few games, it looks like he has heavy feet :>)

Serious?
I thought you’d agree with me about that on Harrington. His touch around the rim has always been surprisingly poor. He can’t finish in traffic either.
Love the guy, but his “big man game” leaves a lot to be desired.

Sorry. Mis-scanned your post. I missed the “On Al” shift and didn’t realize you weren’t still talking about Biedrins. It’s clearly there, but without being set off from the preceding paragraph, my tired eyes just seemed to ignore it. I should have checked more carefully.
Yes, I agree entirely that Harrington is a terrible, terrible finisher. Among the very worst. I have no idea how someone who is from time to time labeled as “athletic” can so regularly fail to convert layups.

Are you kidding me??? Seriously did you not watch any of the Spurs games were he was the main guy on Duncan? Jan 7th Duncan had 32 pts in 40 mins of action aided by 14 of 16 performance from the foul line, however our man Biedrins wasn’t in foul trouble and played 40 mins in a warriors in San Antonio. In there next match up Biedrins matched Duncan minutes again, this time limiting him to 1 for 2 from the foul line and only 17 pts for the entire game.
This is not to say that Beans is legit low post defender, but with teams like LAC with Camby, PHO with Stoudimire, POR with Alridge/Oden, and NO with Chandler there is a trend towards having more Duncan like builds in the front court. I think as long as Beans can keep out of foul trouble that he can play solid low post defense for us.

I think Al is going to be a complete stud this year.
So we need to keep him as he should go for 20/10.
