Stephen Jackson Launches "Jack 1 Foundation"

Our team Captain has been true to his stature as the Community Outreach champion of the dubs by launching the Jack 1 Foundation:

Golden State Warriors guard/forward Stephen Jackson is launching his charitable foundation, the Jack 1 Foundation, with a series of community outreach events in his hometown of Port Arthur, TX, from August 20-22, it was announced today. The mission of the Jack 1 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to provide community initiatives focusing on youth development and empowerment regardless of economic status.

"I am extremely pleased to launch the Jack 1 Foundation, and I'm very happy that the kick-off events are happening in my beloved hometown of Port Arthur," said Jackson. "Giving back to the community is something that I have believed in strongly throughout my entire NBA career. I feel blessed to be in a position where I can start my own charitable foundation that allows me to work more closely with deserving community groups both here in Port Arthur and my adopted home in the Bay Area."

To me this solidifies a few things:

He likes the nickname Jack, not that nasty "S-Jax" they gave him on the nasty Spurs that some of the bandwaggoners on here still refer to him as.
He's our guy and he's not going anywhere. Contrary to some web conspirators, Jack was not sitting crawled up in a corner of his garage trying to figure out a way out of GS all summer long. He's giving back while others are relaxing on vacation.
We easily forget how much he matured last season and how he's so underpaid compared to the other starters... that doesn't matter right now, he's all about redemption at this point in his life and trade thoughts or contract crunching are the last things on his mind.
He probably just as excited as we fans are (if not more) about this upcoming season.

no one making 6 million is underpaid

especially if you have a criminal record. but stephen isnt a bad person. if you read tht espn the magazine article it says he grew up in a dangerous area. he didnt go with his brother to see a guy who dated his bro’s girlfriend because he didnt want to get in trouble. his older brother was put in a coma and died and stephen said he wouldnt ever again not help a friend in need. so when ron artest went into the stands he went in to get him out and help him. when he shot his gun in the air at the stripclub because(this was caught on video) people said they woud spray jamaal tinsleys car up. so he shot the gun in the air to stop the fight and someone tried to run him over. yes he is emotional but he has good reasons behind his actions

You just defended Jack while still calling him a criminal and using that for a justification of him not being underpaid. How about we just focus on basketball, what he means to our team, and how he is getting paid less than Al Harrington. What pains me is someone can like him so much, go so far to defend him, but still has to open up their argument by categorizing him.

gotta love Captain Jack

Love this guy. He came over as part of the trade as part of a package that was supposed to be focused on Al Harrington. Once he got here, we realized he was the much more valuable piece. Since being here, he’s been a model citizen off the court, and has greatly improved his attitude on the court. This guy loves to give back to the community. I also like that he doesn’t really complain, he just goes out and plays.
