Poll on the best

I decided to put out a poll, so we could all see each other's opinions. It will also probably seperate the fans from people who actually understand basketball. Note: I am not saying that I'm a pro at understanding the game in any way, shape, or form.

With that said it would be also nice if you gave your reason for your pick & as much supporting information as possible or to your knowledge.

I was also wondering on everyone's personal opinions on the nba 2k9 and nba live 09' releases. Which do you think is the better basketball simulator & why?

I am a fan of the 2k franchise, particularly because of the improved player designs, smooth transitions in the in-game graphics and the physics are pretty phenomonal. The gameplay, I think anyways, is also better than EA sports' Live version of the NBA.

& yes I have played both 2k8 and Live 08'.

Poll
Of all the Warriors players, who do you think has the best all-around game? Remember to take all of the following in to consideration: fg%, 3pt%, passing ability, athleticism, rebounding ability, defensive ability, and effectiveness while on the court.

NBA 2K9

I’ve played the NBA Live and NBA 2K series simulators and I feel like the gameplay is smoother and more realistic in 2K. Both games have amazing graphics so if you’re just interested in how it looks you can’t go wrong either way. I’m just not a fan of the gameplay in NBA Live because it is somewhat unrealistic… at least in the last one I played which was 07 I think. Players with “powers” like good at dunking and good at passing and all didn’t seem right. I know a bunch of people that are fans of the NBA Live series, though so I think its just a matter of preference.

Of all the Warriors players, who do you think has the best all-around game?

How can you put Randolf in there when he hasn’t played a game yet? How can anyone know what he’ll do?

kellenna being in this conversation is a joke

and randolph hasn’t played a game.. but he has a chance to be that guy. Jackson on some nights can do everything.. score, distribute, defend, rebound, but sometimes he is sloppy and he is a streaky player. Al Harrington has a very good skill set but he just doesn’t produce. So i would have to go with monta.

NBA 2k series kills Live. i was kind of dissapointed with last year’s 2k for ps3 but it still was a good game and the last good NBA live was 2003. after that it went so down hill it isn’t even funny. absolute garbage.

Monta Ellis

Baron Davis said it himself when he was here, Ellis has the most talent of any Warrior.

by belilaugh on Aug 16, 2008 12:21 AM PDT reply actions

all-around

“all-around” means the widest variety of skills, not talent. unfortunately the warriors don’t really have any good all-around players. monta can’t dribble, shoot the threes, or pass. jack can’t rebound or jump much at all, harrington can’t do anything but shoot threes or get blocked trying to get to the rack, and randolph probably can’t do much of anything yet (although he has the potential to have a better all-around game than any other dub eventually). kelenna probably has the most well rounded game of the guys you listed. he can shoot from anywhere, dribble, drive it and dunk (so much better than evans by the by).

I'm keen on the professional basketball club The Golden State Warriors. I don't fancy other clubs.

by The Bimbo Coles Experience on Aug 16, 2008 1:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Bull

Monta can definitely dribble. That may not have been the case last season, but his handle is quietly getting sick now. Very underrated aspect of his game.

Only time will tell whether he can shoot the three. It seemed that when he shot it in rhythm he made it, but when he caught it off the pass and shot it he missed. But he will work on it. I was at a game near the end of the season and saw him in the warmups, and he must have hit about 12 in a row. Just like Wright’s jumpshot, he didn’t use it because it wasn’t ready, not because he didn’t have it.

And I wouldn’t say he is a bad passer just because he lacks flash. He is probably average at this point, it could improve.

He played terrible defense but again, it could improve.

by belilaugh on Aug 16, 2008 6:49 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't agree on that

I think Buike deserves more credit than that. He’s been a great role player off the Warriors bench for the past two seasons and played a key role at the beginning of last season when Jrich was out of the picture and Jack was suspended. He could improve on his D, but he scores high on athleticism, fg, and 3pt. He also does well on the boards for most bench reserves and his effectiveness while on the floor is pretty good. I think he’s a solid player. I’d definitely choose to sign him over matt barnes.

by iBallGSW on Aug 16, 2008 12:30 AM PDT reply actions

for the record

I’d vote for Jack, despite the fact that he can be streaky. He contributes the most while he’s on the floor and plays the best D out of the wings/guards. He can be a floor general at times and the scorer if need be. He can rebound (when he wants to) and improves the Warriors defense, just by being on the floor. Monta would come in a close second after him.

2k series, hands down. Always have been, always will be. Simply better in all aspects.

R you kidding me?

You’ve got to put Maggette in this lineup. The guy shoots decent from 3, can rebound, take the ball to the hoop, hit freethrows, and defend with anyone on the warriors. Not to mention he is in peak physical shape, so forget about him getting tired towards the end of the season (yeah I’m talkin to you Stephen Jackson). I vote for Maggette

Woops

forgot about Maggs. He should be up there.

Also

What’s up with everyone disliking Buike being up there? Give me one reason he shouldn’t at least be up there as a choice.

That's not much of a question,

All around game. There is really only one Warrior with an all around game when taking into account things like D and 3’s. Jack. Everyone else is pretty suspect on D with the exception of Buike Biedrins Turiaf and Wright. But all those guys except Buike are pretty awful 3 shooters. If you"re talking all around players Maggette should be there but definitely not AR and I dont know about Monta, if his D is better this year than yeah he should be. Biedrins is the best at fg% i and one of the best on D, and will be better this year, but you can’t put a center there or even a pf unless its someone like Rasheed Wallace. So its limited to guards, and when talking about all around guards on the Warriors the list should come down to Jackson Maggette Monta and Azabuike. And you gotta give Jack the edge

When its all said and AR will probabaly be better than all of them.

They can say it all they want but it has to be done to count.

I don't think AR will a better scorer than Monta.

Or Jack for that matter. Even Baron has a better post game than he does at the moment. I’m thinking he’ll end up being a star talent wise, but not a superstar.

by iBallGSW on Aug 16, 2008 8:17 PM PDT reply actions

Azubuike

i think Buike has the best all around game. he has more handles than Monta, can lock down on a player pretty well, has the 3pt range, has the athletic ability for offense and defense (ask JR Smith), has decent court vision and rebounding ability for his size. he’s a bit overlooked for his all around game at times. once he gets more playing time and shows his game, people are going to be glad we re-signed him at a bit of a discount for 3 yrs.

by eRonE on Aug 17, 2008 9:43 PM PDT reply actions

i cant believe you said that kelenna has more handles than monta?????

monta beside baron had the best handles on the court for us last year, plus captain jack is buike only a better rebounder, better D, better 3-point shot, and you can argue that he’s got better ball handling skills than kelenna as well, and oh yea 12 more points per game!!! as for the post:
jackson today
monta tomorrow

by hyphy cowboy on Aug 18, 2008 9:03 AM PDT reply actions

Jackson is NOT a better rebounder than Azubuike. It’s not even close. Suggesting that Jackson is a better rebounder suggests an extreme disconnect with reality.

Jackson’s 3 point percentage last year (the highest of his career) was virtually identical to Azubuike’s. KA has a higher career percentage.

2K all the way

ea sucks. I worked for 2k for 2 years, trust me, way better, much more “realer”.

Put a little mustard on it
