ESPN says Ben Gordon is done as a Bull

This is not another post to say let's trade Al for Ben Gordon or something. I dont think he would do us any good, and in fact, I am not sure how much he can help any NBA team.

He is a 6'3" guard who wants to be the leading scorer on his team rather than the leading passer, and he thinks he deserves a superstar contract despite a lack of ability to really make his team better.

Curious where you guys see him fitting in.  He really might be headed to Europe based on the current, growing trend.

No Thanks.

If we get any Bull, it should be Heinrich.

Europe?

I don’t think he will. He’s like a Monta with 3pt ability, but less rebounding and passing skills. ANY player that can come off the bench and score 16-18 ppg, is a need for at least one team. I don’t think we need him since we have so many guards/ combo guards. We could trade for him so we could use him in a trade for a 4. Other than that, I don’t think he’ll be of much use.

And much slower...

He’s not really like Monta. He’s an undersized scoring guard. End of story. Do we want him? I don’t know… he might mess with the PT for Buke and Belinelli. Lord knows they’re gonna be awesome.

Hmm this sounds alot like Monta…

by YaHeard on Aug 18, 2008 4:26 PM PDT   0 recs

Except..

Monta DOES deserve a superstar contract and DOES make his team better while shooting almost 10% better than Gordon

Playoffs!!??

He does have value

He’s a lights out shooter/scorer. That’s always valuable. Just ask NOK when they had Pargo last year, or SAS with Finley or Utah with Korver. Shooters will always have a place on a team. Gordon just wants a bigger piece of the pie than most teams are willing to give him. He might be a bit redundant on this team, but that’s not to say he’s not intriguing.

good player

although hes VERY streaky…but we definitely do not have a need for him….we already have numerus posts on this blog talking about the traffic jam at the SG position…adding Ben Gordan would jus be another person to play in front of Azubuike and Marco

by 3Kings650 on Aug 18, 2008 4:39 PM PDT   0 recs

That's stupid!!!

Sorry to be a dick, but thats a hella dumb trade. You give up front court depth, something that could be argued as already being a little thin(no pun intended), for an overrated and overpaid sg who would need to start to be happy and would make us smaller, weaker on defense and just a worse team. If we made this trade I would be the first on the “Kill Mully” bandwagon.

AL should only be used to get us a swing forward or pf and guard. Not overrated guards like ben gordon. I hope he goes to OKC or Europe or something

Ben Gordon

Looks like Ben’s better off in Europe than here in the NBA. Unless he learns how to become a play-maker, no team will seriously consider acquiring him as an undersized two-guard. If there was a team that should even consider getting him, I would say the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wally Szczerbiak is definitely a SF starting at the 2-spot. The Cavs essentially have a poor depth chart at the 2-guard spot: Szczerbiak, Billy Thomas, Tarence Kinsey, and at times Boobie Gibson. One problem arises for the Bulls and Cavs; trading within the division. It’s also obvious that we shouldn’t trade for Gordon anyway. If anything, he’s like Monta Ellis without the sheer athleticism, rebounding, and passing ability. The only thing he has over our Monta is dialing from long distance.
Anyways, we have our starting five and Ben Gordon has his own problems.

Ben Gordon is trash!!!!!!!

And I dont care what his numbers look like. This is a dubs post. I hate the bulls and and dont care for ben gordon. We arent getting him cause there is no feasible trade and even if there was, we’d be the losers. Plus….we have MONTAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY! (gay lisp). He would take dump on gordon’s face all day long.

I think with the loss of Jannero Pargo

He would be a good fit with the Hornets

the

hornets dont have the amount of money that ben gordon wants… i don’t think anyone does.. except maybe the grizz… but the grizz already have a lot of guards so they wont want BG. Gordon really screwed himself.

NO WAY

I was interested in Ben Gordon, but only before we signed Maggette. Right now we are 100% set with 4 out of 5 of our starters. Power Forward is the only position we could possibly sign someone for.

Ben Gordon will only be a starter. 1 of 3 things will happen.
1. He signs a one year deal with the Bulls and tries again next year for contract.
2. Another NBA team signs him.
3. An European team signs him.

I think number 2 is the least likely

by dancingchiapet on Aug 18, 2008 9:21 PM PDT   0 recs

He'd actually make a good guard in the triangle...

too bad there’s only one team that runs that offense.

Sign and trade

First trade with Memphis

LAkers GM – Hey Memphis GM wanna trade me Pau Gasol for KB
Memphis GM – Heck ya, just for Pau?
Lakers – Yeah, we’ll throw in Crittenton and even the rights to Marc Gasol
Memphis – That’s a done deal.

(Call 2 days later)
Mem – Hey, you tricked me, you said you would give me KB but I thought it was Kobe
LA – OOOO, you wanted KB24, not Kwame
Mem – Ya
LA – I’ll tell you what, I’ll give you Coby for Mike Miller
Mem – That’s definetly a deal………

hate to say it but be gordan is extremely athletic.
i’d say he has “sheer athleticism”

anyway thats not the point, the point is…

NO WAY!.
wait MAYBE.
definately an upgrade over someone like bellinelli.
well for now.
mm I don’t know.

BG or Belinelli?

My first inclination is to say no way, but when I looked, Belinelli is only 2 inches taller than Ben Gordon and less athletic. Let’s just say we do this as a defensive move since Belinelli and Gordon are both capable of scoring for the Dubs (alhtough Belinelli is unproven).
Ben Gordon cant be a worse defensive option. This conversation is starting to make me worry about the Warriors roster (even more than before). I still dont see a spot for Ben based on his attitude and potential inability (lack of desire) to be a third offensive option somewhere, but he has to be a defensive upgrade over several NBA starting players

by warriorsvictim on Aug 19, 2008 11:00 AM PDT   0 recs

Ummm...

We have no cap room. If Ben Gordon was going to accept a salary that would allow him to be traded to us for Belinelli, somebody would just scoop him up and tell us to keep our suit wearing Italian.

FAIL.

by Dubs fan in Boston on Aug 19, 2008 1:47 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

agree

obviously the trade requirements are ridiculous to consider. But I think we all agree Ben Gordon isnt a great option for 99% of the teams in the NBA.
He is either going to Europe or about to get screwed salary wise
Agent Zero was right, never turn down a good offer

Ben Gordon is not good for the Warriors

I don’t think anyone will argue with me when I say that Ben Gordon isn’t a good fit for the Warriors …… but…… what if….. (try not to flame me too bad for this) but here goes.

Let’s say Ben signs the qualifying offer. He’ll be on the books for about $6m for next season. Tyrus Thomas is on the books for $3m. The Warriors might be able to trade Harrington for Ben Gordon and Tyrus Thomas. Let Ben ride the bench and maybe play him when the Warriors need some shooting. Some people might say that we have Bellinelli and Morrow that come off the bench and shoot. Both of those guys are still question marks in my opinion. Ben is a proven shooter. When Ben does play I think he will play hard in order to show his skills to the league and get a big contract after the QO is up and he becomes an unrestricted FA.

Tyrus Thomas also has some attitude issues but I feel he is more of a true PF than Harrington and he is young and has more potential. He can play defense and rebound very well when properly motivated and I think Nelson could get that out of him. He would be under contract till 2011.

The Warriors could let Ben Gordon go off to free agency to another NBA team or Europe or…. who really cares. They get a young PF to replace Harrington at a lower price and have cap room to play with a little sooner than waiting for Harrington’s contract to come off the books. To be honest, I really really doubt the Bulls would make this trade but who knows. Tyrus Thomas may do something really stupid and piss off Bulls management and make them want to part ways. I’m also no salary cap expert and not certain if this trade would even work numbers wise but I think it might.
