David West for Harrington, Bellinelli, and CJ WATSON

This trade would actually give us a low post threat with a nice mid range.

Star-divide

The hornets would get a nice backup for paul in a jannero pargo type of scoring point guard. Al would give them a legitimate 3 point shooter and well rounded player at the 4 in harrington. Bellinelli would give them a shooter like mo pete with more of a scoring mentality with well rounded skills compared to mo pete.  i dont know if the hornets would pull the trigger but this would help out both teams. this would also open up more oppurtunities for b wright anf give azubuike and morrow more playing time,

why would the hornets need beli when they have peja?
why would they need harrington when they have west?

Buike for West straight up

By doing this, you could move peja to the 4, morrison to the 3, and have Buike at the 2 alongside Paul, with Chandler at the 5. That would be a DEVASTING lineup, and ultimately fair for all sides IMO, hahaha.

Really, take some time back, think about who they would give up for what they get, even go so far as to compare stats if you want, then come back and really try to justify this trade for NO.

more realisticly

we’ll have to give up b wright, randolph along with buike!
which doesnt sound too bad!!!

i can't see them wanting that deal either

people know that david west is an all-star, right?

by cap'n hack on Aug 21, 2008 12:12 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

my three favorite parts

-only capitalizing CJ WATSON
-belinelli is a more well rounded mo pete.
-the idea that this trade gives wright more playing time, not less, despite the fact that we would be bringing in an all-star at his position.

i can’t wait until people from the hornets’ blogs come in to mock this one relentlessly.

by cap'n hack on Aug 21, 2008 12:10 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

They would

But we’re already doing a good enough job. It’s not like they’d be able to say “Look at those stupid warriors fans, they have no idea how good West is!”. It’s just one guy, and his idea is getting torn to shreds by anybody who cares to comment on it.

The one thing that confuses me though… this is clearly a good trade for the Warriors, but it’s a bad (or worse) trade proposal. So how do I vote?

By the way, please recommend my post below.

by Dubs fan in Boston on Aug 21, 2008 12:52 PM PDT up reply actions   2 recs

i chose not to vote

that was the only selection i could justify.

and the blazers edge folks came over in a hurry after the oden post, that everyone here said was absurd, and that guy even apologized. there was just no stopping that flood.

by cap'n hack on Aug 21, 2008 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Online presence

The idea isn’t well thought out, maybe not on the level of the Oden idea but not well thought out, but the online presence of Blazer fans (especially on the SBN sites) far outnumbers Hornets’ fans. We react fast to anything even barely mentioning our beloved Blazer babies.

I mean, Jesus, over at Blazers Edge we got threads with 800+ posts just from watching RUDY FERNANDEZ, just him, in these recent Olympics— in the middle of the night. A dude who hasn’t put on a NBA jersey yet, is only playing 20 minutes a game (that’s all any Spaniard plays), results in nearly a 1000 posts.

Blazer fans like me are stupid about the Blazers.

So this trade is just as unlikely, but Blazer fans are more likely to swarm another’s site with WHAT WHAT NO THAT IMPOSSIBLE than perhaps Hornets fans are.

You're creepy...

Have you guys over at Blazers Edge assigned different members to monitor various fan sites? This is a silly article (sillyness clearly proclaimed in the title) about players that are in no way, shape, or form related to the Blazers. And here you are, reading 20 comments down and responding coherently.

I’m officially creeped out.

by Dubs fan in Boston on Aug 21, 2008 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My Oden-dar went off

Someone mentioned Oden, my surgically implanted chip in my palm lit up, and I pulled over right away and found a cafe with wifi to find out what I needed to do.

Kevin Pritchard had left me a message on Blazers Edge telling me that someone compared this fanpost to the bad Oden trade suggested a few months ago. He was relying on me to set the record straight.

Ok, I just like reading GSOM too and I love reading responses to bad trade ideas, and the subsequent defensive reply post by the author of the thread— “I NEVR SAID IT WAS A GOOD IDEA, JUST A IDEA DONT JUMP ALL OVR ME I AM A TRUUE FAN STOP BEEING A VIRGIN” and whatnot.

Someone said we Blazer fans jumped all over the place because of the Oden suggestion (and they were wondering where the Hornets fans were), and I was just pointing out there are a lot more of us Blazer fans ONLINE when compared to Hornets fans. So, just by sheer numbers, we’re more likely to swarm a place that mentions a beloved Blazer.

I am creepy though, so I can’t refute that.

after i made that comment

i actually went to the hornets sbn site and noticed that there is almost no activity. in fact, almost every sbn site i go to besides gsom and blazers edge is the same way. next time, before i joke about the blazers edge assault on these boards after the oden trade was suggested, i’ll have to keep that in mind. i will also keep in mind that one of you folks will surely read it, and make a similar point. it is fun to see you guys pop up on as often on sbn sites outside of blazers edge as you do. on some sites you seem to be more involved than fans of those teams. it’s great. we’ll need to have a monta ellis/brandon roy debate on the jazz blog sometime. you know, for fun.

by cap'n hack on Aug 21, 2008 2:48 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Haha

Slowly we’ll make every fan site just Warrior/Blazer talk. Blog-a-Bull has enough of a community to withstand our onslaught (they got plenty of regulars and an active writer running the site), but the others wouldn’t stand a chance.

Oh, just to get it started: Monta will likely always score more than Roy, but Roy all the way baby. PG skills, playmaking, leadership, defense, he even cured my heart cancer that the Jail Blazers gave me.

I say we do a Sergio Rodriguez, CJ Watson argument that turns ugly.

The Celtics blog at dawn, arguments at our side. Be sure to bring personal insults that have nothing to do with either player. My mother is overweight and takes money for sex, just to give you a little ammo to get us started.

Yeah, I try not to be too harsh on Outlaw to my Blazer brothers. He’s insanely athletic, can score on anyone, but still has a limited all-round gave and is (crazily enough) enterting his 6th season in the league.

An Azubuike vs Outlaw battle would end in all out nuclear blog war.

Hey, I got a real question— how good is Ike Diogu to you guys? Not in a trade or nuthin’, but I remember you fellows were high on him before you traded him. Is it just injuries holding him back?

I dunno where he’ll get playing time, but he’s interesting to me and mostly forgotten in all of the Oden hubbub.

Mortimer

by Mortimer on Aug 21, 2008 3:00 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

MY MOTHER IS A SAINT!!!!!

anyway, i think diogu could turn out to be a decent player, something like a 3rd or 4th (more likely 4th) option post guy coming off the bench. it just didn’t work out for him here, and indiana was a mess, so it’s hard to judge him based on that, but if he can add a few pieces here and there to his game, he should be okay. i remember that the warriors were pretty much refusing to include him in any possible deals until that one, looks like the organization was way too high on him, but i’m comfortable with saying he’ll be an okay player. don’t expect more than that.

by cap'n hack on Aug 21, 2008 3:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ike...

He had that one good game against Detroit where he was beasting the Wallace Brothers, had like 26 points in a blowout. That got everyone on his nuts. But one great game in 2 years, it’s curtains.

Plus he had that Mike and Ike thing with Dunleavy, which was pretty cute while it lasted.

but we could do better than that. we could use the same guys and add TURIAF for lebron james. i know this doesnt make to much sense for us to do this cuz we already jax and maggs and i dont think that lebron would be happy coming off the bench. but we could move him to pf. gotta love nellie ball.

antoher idea i had still using the same guys but trade for DWIGHT HOWARD. the magic would make this move cuz they have 4 centers on the roster already and we only have 1 also the guys that we are giving are potential all stars or should have been all stars but they just didnt get enough votes. any thoughts?

Naw... trade for a time machine to get Jordan

Let’s just trade TMNT to the government for a time machine. Then we can go back in time and convince the Philly that Belinelli actually IS Sylvester Stalone, they can use the whole Rocky thing for marketing purposes, and we can get the 5th pick in ’84. We can then offer 2 future #1s (or however many it takes) to move up to #3 and get Jordan.

by Dubs fan in Boston on Aug 21, 2008 2:42 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

That's not a bad idea

Back in 1991, Jordan was at his peak and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a #1 movie at the box office. TMNT fever was at an all time high.

It would be the perfect time to trade Harrington; Reinsdorf is a cheapstake, he’d go for the merchandide and ticket sales Al Harrington is guaranteed to bring in over some bald dude.

It’s a business, after all. Wins are for chumps.

That was more a Barcelona thing… other accents didn’t have the lisp.

I could be wrong. I speak very little Spanish but I’ve been to Spain a few times and did some random jobs. I like the country a lot.

Not that I mind a lisp joke, cause those guys DO have a bad lisp (well, “bad” being relative since it’s just how they pronounce stuff).

Shhh...

I don’t care what you say. All of Spain speaks with a lisp. I don’t care about your “experience” in the place or how you say people speak differently in “different parts” of Spain. They’re all from Spain (or live there), so they all speak the same, act the same, and wear the same clothes, and they’re all completely insensitive to the plight of Asian people everywhere (especially the ones in America).

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

Actually

You have it reversed. First of all, Barcelona, home of the Gasols, has its own language, Catalan, a Latin-based language that’s about as distinct from Spanish as Italian is. During the Franco regime, use of the language was largely repressed, but if you go to Barcelona today you definitely hear and see Catalan more than Spanish.

Second, in Barcelona, they don’t have the distinct Castillian “lisp” — aka ceceo — either when speaking Spanish or Catalan. This handy li’l map shows the lispy parts of Spain in yellow and the non-lispy parts in blue (thanks wikipedia!):

OMG U R SO RONG

LOOK PAL I AM THE WORLDS FOREMOST EXPERT ON EVERYTHING SO SHUT YOUR FACE OK BUDDY.

Yeah, I totally admit I could be (and probably are) wrong. I just remember only encountering the lisp during my time in Barcelona. No one seemed to lisp in Pamplona (much of my job was during the San Fermin festival, so of course Spaniards from all over were there meaning my lisp/no-lisp Pamplona sample is extremely tainted), Bilbao, or Madrid, or in southern Spain. Hmmph.

I guess it was just random encounters with lisping Barcelonians?

Maybe the lisp has gone away a bit?

Oooooh that Rudy Fernandez better not have that lisp or I’ll NEVER trust him as a basketball player.

Look, the main point is, Spaniards hate Asians and Monta isn’t a PG and Marco is human garbage who probably denies the holocaust. Why can’t we just agree to agree and be friends again?

Well babies are stupid

And foreigners are terrorists. If Roy DIDN’T kill babies and hate foreigners, then the bad guys will win. See, that’s the problem— you aren’t seeing past the surface! It’s those intangibles that Roy brings to the game — Baby murdering and Foreigner imprisoning — that makes him a winner.

Did you know Chris Mullin is the leading cause of AIDs in America? He goes to grade schools and just gives everyone AIDs. AND YET YOU CHEERED FOR HIM AND LET HIM BE GM OF YOUR TEAM. For shame, fooooorrrr shaaaaaaaammmeee!

And you guys never talk about that school bus Don Nelson crashed into when he was drinking and driving. He pulled a hit and run, skedaddling out of the scene of the accident but stupidly leaving on foot, and left his car, his wallet, 3 different forms of ID, and his cell phone which he had left on ‘video’ mode and it recorded him saying “bwahaha I am such a lush I’m gonna go run into that school bus and get away with it because I am Don Nelson”.

You might like his run n’ gun style, but those 37 kids who died in the subsequent fire, their flesh charred into the melting vinyl seat covers and their screams forever ringing in the memories of the rescue workers, might beg to differ.

Plus defense wins titles, not runnin’.

Brandon Roy smells like cinnamon and love while Monta Ellis smells like good offense but being given the reins of a team before he is capable. THAT’S A BAD SMELL.

Plus Stephen Jackson’s mom looks like Troy Murphy’s nose.

Anthony Randolph is a bed wetter.

Patrick O’Bryant is putting up 20/15, guaranteed, and Mullin let him go for nuthin’.

Corey Maggette reads old National Geographics for the nudity (ok, I guess that isn’t an insult, cause so do I).

I forget what else I was gonna say, but your team’s mom is a whore!

Most of us are SURE the Hornets would only pull the trigger if their laughter convulsions accidentally did so. There’s no way NO even thinks about this at all.

Nor any way that the league lets the Warriors trade a player who they do not have under contract no matter how many capital letters are used to spell his last name.

OK, we get it.

Now just assume that there’s no CJ WATSON in the trade. Just… try to get past it.

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because I live vicariously through every culture in the world.

but

he was the cherry on top of this delicious trade sundae, the hornets would never do it unless we include him…

Mmmmm....

delicious trade sundae…

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

So what's Marco?

The whipped cream, the nuts, or the hot fudge?

Don't mess with ^^^^ !!

The plastic wrapper

That the plastic spoon was in. You throw the wrapper away, to be forgotten forever.

If he was the bowl, that would be too useful. You can USE a bowl. In fact, maybe my wrapper analogy is wrong because at one time a wrapper is useful— it held the plastic spoon and kept it safe from germs. Marco doesn’t do anything THAT useful… hmm…

Marco is the empty calories, maybe? Sounds like a good idea before but afterwards you’re fat, bloated, and gained nothing from the experience except more time spent being unhappy.

I don’t think much of Marco Belly “Never was good in Europe why would he start now” Nelly, so I come into this excercise with known biase.

I think he's more like the undercooked brownie

He looks so good, until you get up close and taste him. Only then do you realize that you’re going to get salmonella because he wasn’t ready to come out of the oven. And then you realize he’s got no nuts and there wasn’t enough flour in the batter to toughen him up… he never should have been put there in the first place.

Shoot.

The title fooled me. I thought this really happened. Way to burst my bubble.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

Ridiculous

I would pull the trigger in a heart beat, but why would the Hornets do it? An allstar for 3 role players is just ridiculous. I don’t think Watson is any better than Mike James at the back up point guard position. The Hornets wouldn’t need Marco when they have Peja as their shooter and Mo Petersen at the shootguard position. They also need a banger to play alongside Chandler and West is perfect for that; Harrington just doesn’t fit the bill.

Whether or not Watson is better than James is immaterial. Watson isn’t signed yet. He can’t be traded as such.

asdf

Just when I was starting to forget why I don’t come here anymore and a post like this completely refreshes my memory….

Stephen Jackson catches on the wing and faces up against Vujacic. When Jax looks down and sees Vujacic, his eyes light up. He pulls out his nine, screams "Thug Life" and empties the clip, then drives in for a basically uncontested layup.

Where do you go?

I genuinely want to know… and I’m not going to a bobkittens website.

Ummm...

40 posts a year = 1 post every 8 days. That’s not a lot. Plus I bet most of those were in one big chunk.
