Best and Worst Warriors Draft in the last 5 Years
So I'm curious on your thoughts for what our best and worst draft class has been in the last 5 years. I've been kind of disappointed that we always did just good enough to get a middle of the pack lottery pick, but never really good enough (until 2007) to actually get into the playoffs. I'm also disappointed that we haven't pulled a Chicago Bulls and gotten a top 3 pick.

I feel that our 2006 draft was easily the worst in the last 5 years. Patrick O'Bryant turned out to be a bust for us (although it looks like the Celtics are giving him a chance which might mean something). Given that at our position in the draft there wasn't much to choose from I guess we did alright. In hindsight we might as well have gotten Marcus Williams because we ended up with him now anyways or at least Rondo or Brewer, but what can you do.
I think its kind of funny that our best player drafted in the last 5 years was a 2nd round pick in 2005. Props to whoever convinced us to take a chance on a small player out of High School. I guess picking Diogu was solid too in that he helped us net Captain Jack and TMNT.
Any thoughts?

While '06 is the clear "Worst"
It’s impossible to say which is the best at this point, they’re all too young. And you’re missing the ‘08 class. I can’t wait for Pietrus and O’Bryant to become All Stars.
I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

(Not including 2008 because they haven’t played yet)

This is true, but I have a hard time seeing either of them do better than Monte is right now. Pietrus is a crazy athelete and good defender 3pt shooter, but what is going to help him take his game to the next level and be an allstar? O’Bryant could be a solid big man but do you really see him being a 20/10 sort of guy?

So... you're restricting the '08 class because you don't think they'll be better?
I understand what you’re trying to accomplish here, but in my opinion, it’s silly to evaluate draft results any less than 3-4 years after the fact as there are too many variables that have yet to come into play. What happens when Kosta comes in this year with a jumpshot, 3 good post moves, and some defensive skills? What happens when POB actually gets a chance in Boston? What happens when Belinelli comes out with some serious skills. We’ve been drafting teenagers. They’ve all got so much left to learn that it’s ridiculous to evaluate their current talent level against each other.

2005 draft was bad too
besides the luckiest pick in monta ellis we could have chosen andrew bynum ad ryan gomes. no that would be an outstanding draft class. and on the other thought we could have chosen lou williams and people there wouldnt know the difference

Damn, now that I look back, we’ve passed up on hella good players over the past decade…KG, Sheed, Kobe, Nash, Peja, T-Mac, Carter, Dirk, Pierce, Rashard, Artest, Jason Terry, Manu, Tony Parker, Amare, Boozer, David West, Josh Howard…and more! What the hell was the front office thinking?! At least we got Jamison, J-Rich, and Monta, even though Monta’s the only one left now…
WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...

not accustomed to defending GS GMs but
lots of teams “passed” on those guys, no just us … look at any draft a few years later and there’s plenty of “doh!” moments

Not with in 5 Years but this #3 pick
Is the top of all list that set us back for along time. With the number 3 pick of the NBA draft 1986 the Golden State Warriors select Chris Washburn out of N.C State

Getting Biedrins
was the watershed moment. We have no one else that can do what he does.
