Mullin to scout Livingston today

Dimemag.com reports that today, Chris Mullin is flying to Chicago to take a serious look at Shaun Livingston. Rumor has it, Mullin was considering him well before the Monta issue. Makes a little sense now, with Livingston being a low risk - high reward option for the team. I look at it like this, WHY NOT? It is not like the Warriors need to make any more moves (Monta only out for a month or so into the season) but why not take a chance, what harm can it cause, NONE.

I feel that this will push coaching to play the youngsters on the squad and most important, build confidence in game time situations.

Anyway, here is a part of the dimemag.com report and link:

http://dimemag.com/2008/08/chris-mullins-outlook-on-warriors-pg-situation/

* Mullin is going to watch Shaun Livingston work out today in Chicago. Presumably, Livingston would take the third spot on the depth chart behind Williams and C.J. Watson.

Mullin said he’s interested in Shaun Livingston and indeed will take a long-scheduled trip to Chicago to watch Livingston work out tomorrow. He said it wouldn’t worry him too much if Livingston can’t play immediately because he has enough ball-handlers, even without Ellis.

The Warriors were rumored to be interested in Shaun Livingston before Monta got hurt, but now he’s obviously in a better position to get signed. Talent-wise, Livingston is better and has more potential than Williams, but who knows where he’ll be health-wise when the season starts. They could take a chance on him as Williams’ backup...

What do you all think, worth the chance? Will it happen?

no doubt

without a doubt this is worth it. a 6 foot 7 pure point guard who can defend? the only good reason not to be all over this guy is if the injuries he sustained have completely wiped his effectiveness out. but if not you just have to consider it, it eliminates so many issues we have with monta ellis has a marqee player.

hope they give the kid a good look

he’s exactly the type of player that can play alongside monta if both regain their prior forms. Pairing a 6-7 PG with a 6-3 SG would be great, as each could mask the others deficiencies. If he shows any type of promise, the Warriors should insta-sign him.

each could mask the others deficiencies

Yeah, each could point to the other and say it was his fault, he’s a cripple.

al;ksdj

if mullin thinks he’ll be a good fit then we’ll get him. i feel that this would be really good cuz the whole idea of turning monta into a point guard will be finished. i really hope everything works out, i almost cried when i heard about monta’s injury…

or watson goes.

that makes no sense, CJ can actually play at game speed now without waiting a season to see if he ever will.

what a surprise ;)

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball
