Mullin's backup plans
Just read a good artcile, http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2008/08/27/mullin-on-ellis-there-will-be-no-panic-emergency-moves-but-hell-take-a-look-at-livingston-tomorrow/
Tell me if im wrong, but doesn't it sound like mullin's talking about shifting jackson down to the point and not starting marcus? he mentioned just "opening up the games" more, and incorperating turiaf and biedrins as starters and more in the offense. sounds like jackson, magette, harrington, turiaf and then biedrins. very very intriguing. Another thing he mentions is anthony randolph having a bigger role now!

i didn't get that impression, actually
he didn’t say he would start marcus, but he didn’t really suggest that stephen jackson will be playing point forward either. he just mentioned using stephen jackson as a playmaker on the wing, as opposed to the point guard being the playmaker at the top of the court.
i like the shaun livingston idea. if we somehow manage that trade, and marcus proves to be effective, then monta might indeed stick to playing the 2 when he comes back, so as to not further rush his transition back to basketball/the nba. then again, that makes for a pretty terrible defensive backcourt… but i guess since when do the dubz play defense?

hehe yea
but that’s my point dubz, doesn’t it make it redundant for marcus williams to start but not be the predominant ballhandler? if jackson becomes the point forward then it would mean because marcus wasn’t there to constantly handle the rock as the starting pg. it implies that

oh ok
i see what you’re saying, my bad. then yeah, you’re right. it seems like mullin is implying that, but i’m hoping nellie is smarter than that (who am i kidding, of course he is). there are only so many plays you can run from a wing (see boring, i mean triangle, offense). basically, they’re gonna use marcus’ ballhandling and passing ability more than his not so strong ability to jack up 3s in people’s faces and desire to dunk on people (see baron davis). maybe like a jason kidd, or more like andre miller kind of player? but who knows, this might serve monta some good, watching a pure pg play with the team that nellie wants him to play pg for.

jackson will never be the starting point guard for the warriors…it just wont happen. he might be dribbling the ball up at times, but i seriously doubt he will ever be labeled as the warriors starting point guard. for now, the most likely scenario will be williams starting, cj behind him, then livingston in the 3rd slot (if we sign him). however, if livingston shows that he is capable of more…he may get more pt than cj during the season..
