Around SBN: DTN Interviews SI's Austin Murphy Bar-right-arrows

Where are they NOW? Former players/personalities.

I was reading the Andris Biedrins BMW thread, and it seems like a lot of people see former players/personalities still around the Bay Area.  Would anyone mind sharing any info they know of on some of our favorites players from the past?

Warriors. Warriors Cheerleaders.  Giants. Sharks. A's.  Niners. Raiders. College alum, yada yada...

Obviously if they are still in the league, they need not apply.

Personally, I'm curious what Chris Gatling and Sarunus Marcilonus are doing.  They were always fun to watch players and it would be cool to know what life is like after the NBA for them.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I'm going against your if they are still in the league they need not apply rule...

And I’m also going into a different sport, but Jeff Garcia used to frequent a restaurant I was a busboy at in high school. He was always super nice, and was a very, very, very generous tipper. Consistently in the 25% to 30% range.

Nate's BBQ...

is the best BBQ in the bay! Plus Big Nate is always there. I take it for granted.

I met Nate a couple times and was surprised that he wasn’t taller. I’m sure he’s been losing height over the years, but I thought he looks about 6’7”

Chris Gatling

His boy lived like 5 houses down from me, so I would always see Gat around the area. Big dude, effed up haircut. His boy used to play for the Cowboys or Niners or some NFL team. But Gat, dude had like 6 cars, and there was hardly no parking. He had a Range and a Land Rover, a gold Ferrari and a couple others. He’s probably still around the Oakland area.

Wasn’t his effed up haircut the result of all the scars on his head? I thought I remember that he had an accident or something that required extensive brain surgery.

My High School Geometry teacher was an ex warrior girl

This was back in the day though because I graduated in 99. She said Joe Berry Carroll fell on her once.

we're talking about drawing a line in the sand

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball

Chris Washburn

Last i read about him, he was found sleeping under a freeway overpass in Atlanta. He used to drive his Benz around East Oakland, overtly seeking crack. Biggest bust among many Warrior busts.

Todd Fuller

Not sure where he is right now, but up until late last year, the best draft pick in Warriors history :P (Kobe who?) Todd Fuller, was playing in our Australian NBL for the South (Melbourne) Dragons. He lasted about 8 games and was considered too slow for the NBL and was subsequently cut.

How embarrassing.

P.S. Former Warrior Mark Price was coach of the Dragons for 5 games before being sacked.

Sean Lampley

Also, another former Warrior, Sean Lampley, played for the Aussie NBL Champion Melbourne Tigers, in our most recent season.

by Ozwarrior on Aug 6, 2008 8:26 AM PDT   0 recs

I think about 2 years ago

Lampley was playing in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Assoc). Even there he was irrelevant. Us Pinoys are quick but anyone over 6’4” moves around like Gheorge Muresan. My wife’s friend dated one of the centers (6’5”) and he was just stiff – think Chuck Nevitt.

If he was stiff, maybe that’s why she dated him! :-P

what about Cliff Rozier

any body have anything on him

by Rach on Aug 6, 2008 2:14 PM PDT   0 recs

Cliff apparently moved back to Bradenton, FL where he grew up and is suffered from debilitating depressive disorders. He declared bankruptcy was arrested several times and apparently cannot function. He was incarcerated for auto theft after stealing a policeman’s car (not a squad car) a few years ago. I don’t know if he’s been released, but it sounded like being institutionalized, even in a prison, might be better for him. He’s apparently a total wreck.
