Kahn SLAMS GSW while ignoring some basic realities
ESPN’s Mike Kahn took a pretty one-sided swipe at our guys, laying a pretty negative foundation for why the "Offseason moves won’t help Warriors’ playoff bid."
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8512046/Offseason-moves-won%27t-help-Warriors%27-playoff-bid
Among his charges:
Jackson is demanding a contract extension – NOW!
Dubs front office investigation of Ellis’ injury is misguided
"Nelson stomped and screamed" for his own contract extension.
Blamed last year’s slow start on Jackson’s suspension.
Claims "obviously" something was wrong between Baron and Nelson at the end of last season.
Though calling Mullin a clever GM, he blames him for the Montgomery hire.
"It's only a matter of time before Nelson implodes for one last time."
Then he concludes triumphantly, "Essentially what we're seeing is the Warriors come back to earth where they belong. They're exciting. They're quirky. And success is fleeting at best. Just accept them for who they are and realize championship caliber they are not."
The problem with Kahn’s analysis is very little of it is relevant to THIS season.
While barely mentioning the offseason moves, Kahn describes the 30 some years of near futility of the franchise.
Do you think the Ellis injury will have more impact on our 08-09 playoff chances than any of the above?
Meanwhile the DubzReport cited coolly, calmly, and succinctly the real reasons why Nelson stated earlier that making the playoffs was iffy - even before Monta’s injury.
http://thedubzreport.blogspot.com/
GSW is the youngest team in the league (23.4) but also the second tallest (avg 6’7 – thanks Kosta) and tied for second LIGHTEST team in the league (217 lb).
DubzReport also pointed out that Detroit is the lightest team in the league and yet they have the reputation for being a pound it in, half court team. Obviously, it matters more who has your weight than the average weight eh?
Do you agree with Kahn? Do you appreciate this style of "reporting" ?

Perhaps Kahn is bitter at the NBA
Considering he’s from Seattle and used to write for the Tacoma New Tribune before moving on to CBS sports. I think his basketball analysis is average at best and more reactionary than anything else.
A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.

That’s kinda obvious isn’t it? If someone says no they must be from another planet.

Even with Ellis it would be very difficult to make the postseason, especially if Monta does not do well at the 1.
Hasheem "The Beat" Thabeet. A Warrior in 09.
never heard of the guy....
won’t start paying attention to him now.

the noise you refer to
is just lots of words summing up what we all know. but, he’s writing for a national audience, and i think a lot of hoops fans would find the dubs saga interesting. i don’t disagree with him, and he talked about the positives of a baron-less maggette-more lineup. look, i don’t think we have a realistic chance of playoffs until our skinnies at least get 3 more years of experience and chicken dinners under their belts. unless, nelson pulls off some serious magic and we get that frenzied overplay for a 50 game stretch of the season.
