What are the 2008 Warriors?

From TrueHoop:

Matt Steinmetz, sideline TV reporter for Comcast and blogger at the Examiner, is worried about the team's identity. Rather than saying what the Warriors are, it's easier to say what they are not. He writes:

  • They're certainly not a halfcourt team because they lack a low-post threat and they don't execute well enough to play that style. They don't have that kind of personnel, either.
  • They're not a defensive team, that's for sure. Let's be honest. The Warriors are the opposite of a defensive team.
  • They're not a team that relies on a star. Baron Davis, of course, was the closest thing the Warriors had to a difference-maker, and now he's gone.
  • They're not a good shooting team. It's not news that the Warriors took more 3-pointers than every other team in the league last year. It might be news, though, to find out that 22 teams shot it better from out there.

I loved watching the Warriors the last two season, but with Baron gone the identity of the Warriors seems to be fragmenting into something even I can't fathom. Is this a team based on potential, with youth everywhere providing the promise of future growth? Is this a team that still needs to be shaped and reformed? What will their style be?

How can we best define the 2008 Warriors?
