NBA 2K9 - Warriors player ratings

The official player ratings for NBA 2k9 has been released. Here is the link: www.operationsports.com/mediaview.php?id=481&page=7 (Click on 77 - Added: Sep 21, 2008)

Ellis - 87

Jackson - 85

Maggette - 83

Biedrins - 81

Belinelli - 77

Harrington - 77

Wright - 76

Randolph - 74

Azubuike - 73

Watson - 73

Hendrix - 73

Williams - 73

Turiaf - 72

IMO, I think they did an "okay" job with the ratings. Ellis at 87 and Jackson at 85 seem fair. However, I think Azubuike and Turiaf could have had a better ranking. Come on, just because Belinelli has a solid 3 pointer doesn't mean he's an overall better player than Buike! Your thoughts?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

by war i are. on Sep 21, 2008 11:23 PM PDT   0 recs

wow

and can someone please tell me how Chris Paul is ranked 99? i know he’s an amazing PG, but isn’t 99 a little too high?

by LETS GO WARRIORS on Sep 21, 2008 11:26 PM PDT   0 recs

um... consider he should won the MVP

a 99 rating seems right for Paul.

A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.

belinelli above wright, buike, and tied with al?! im a marco fan and everything but….

by gorillas on Sep 21, 2008 11:26 PM PDT   0 recs

so

belinelli is the 5th best player on the team and turiaf is the worst, with a ranking lower than hendrix? it sure was dumb of us to go get turiaf, if hendrix is already better than him.

heart of a champion, will of the warrior.

Yea seriously.

AB isn’t an overall better player than Kendrick “Freakin” Perkins? And argue all you want, I’d still rather have AB than Brad Miller or Memo Okur.

And another thing, even though Horford played Center last year for ATL, he’s NOT A CENTER. He’s an undersized PF and a hugely undersized C.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

lol

at Watson, Belinelli, and Hendrix’s high ratings.

by dajrichshow on Sep 22, 2008 12:08 AM PDT   0 recs

did anybody on 2k sports even watch a Warriors game?

I mean, I love the 2k series and I have every intention to donate my $60 to a good cause but seriously.

Jackson being a worse perimeter defender than Monta, and equal to Marco?
Monta a D- in rebounding? (and K. Durant, who averaged 10 rpg in college?)

by antihero on Sep 22, 2008 12:28 AM PDT   0 recs

The ratings can be changed, they're frquently incorrect with non-starters

I just hope they pronounce Azubuike correctly this time.

someone write a diary about this, analysis, etc

do you think we could get gerald wallace for maggette? i heard a rumor cha was shopping him perhaps because of injury history, but i still think this trade would benefit both teams

by steelekord on Sep 22, 2008 8:33 AM PDT   0 recs

What funny is that most of these guys should be W's FANS!

I know my buddy that works on the game is, but I thin this is the worst job they’ve done in recent memory on the ratings…

The game is going to be sweet, and luckily with the 2K Analyst updates they’ll improve as the season goes on. But I agree, Marco’s too high, Turiaf too low, and KAz is much better than the players he’s rated below.

by esco41510 on Sep 22, 2008 10:59 AM PDT   0 recs

Lollerskates

Those are the worst ratings EVAR!

This team will be about as good as we were on NBA 2K7. Which is to say: Baaaad.

Hopefully Adonal Foyle will beat his 80 rating of NBA 2K7: He deserves it.

Rosters...

Yeah, these guys do an OK job on the better known players but they have a hard time getting the role players right. Here are a few head scratchers: As was already pointed out Buike < Marco, but they actually rated MP2 at 79 with, get this, a B in b-ball IQ. Also Barnes is rated 77 and rated higher than new teammate Diaw (74 or 75).

I know some of this has to do with the fact that the overall rankings have different weighted skillsets for differant positions but there are some wacky ratings this year. THe really great news is that not only do we get “Living Rosters” (more frequent roster updates, including player tendencies and animations) but even better we get “2K Share” so we can download other users roster files and created players over xbox live. There are always some serious basketball junkies out there who put some serious time into mastering their rosters so there should be no shortage of good accurate user files.

seems ok across the board

i would give monta and jax an 88 cuz jax is a savvy vet with lockdown d and a killer 3(3 point rating in 2k8 77) and an underrated drive. monta is automatic offense and can score anywhere below the 3 point mark plus his a decent rebounder for a guard. dre 81 is good, mags and kaz should get the same rating b/c their basically the same player but kaz has range but mags should get an 81 and kaz a 78, wright should get 77 cuz he can play but needs meat. belineli should get a 75 cuz he didnt do anything last season and everyone else seems good

by gswLLBatman on Sep 22, 2008 1:03 PM PDT   0 recs

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ROFL

“maggette and Kaz should get the same rating because they are basically the same player”

DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BASKETBALL?

you do realize that both of them played basketball last year with a huge difference stats and both signed contracts this offseason with a huge difference in the amount of money they will be receiving. So was that a typo or are you implying that chris mullin is the biggest idiot in the history of sports and signed basically another adonal foyle deal when signing maggette.

sheesh… azabuike… i like him.. but he is the most overrated player on the warriors. why is he overrated because everyone thinks he is underrated.

by Agent Zero on Sep 22, 2008 2:34 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah i do know my basketball and warriors moron

kaz and mags: both around the same height 6’5"-6’6" roughly, both big, strong, both rebound well for their size, both play the same positions, both shoot free throws well, both love driving to the rim, kaz has range, mags drives more. you wanna know the difference between the two guys? One was chained to the bench by a coach that doesn’t use his role players and while being outplayed by 2 damn good guards (baron/monta). mags on the other hand pretty much was the best player on the team with brand out for most of the season so of course his gonna look good on a team without its best player. AND YEAH mullin is the greatest exec in all the world with picking up a young point instead of a vet like j williams that could have guided monta, or maybe its his ability to draft rookie of the year players with knowledge of nellie not playing rookies, or hey the fact that he let the best player on the warriors sign with a division rival. then yeah yeah he is a idiot

by gswLLBatman on Sep 23, 2008 10:14 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

wow

buike was a 73 last year, should be a 78 or 77 for sure. these ratings suck they got rid of the NUMBERS and replaced them with letters?! they better f’ng change that.

by Foulacy on Sep 22, 2008 1:36 PM PDT   0 recs

I disagree with that

that seems right. he should be a little higher like 75-78ish range, but not good enough to be 80. He is the most overrated warriors right now.

by warriorfan4life on Sep 22, 2008 10:55 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Cheapest Teams

Cheapest teams on 2k9 will probably be:Orlando, boston, toronto, lakers, philly.

by bojangles408 on Sep 22, 2008 1:58 PM PDT   0 recs

that team

SUCKS!!!
i would say a bunch of them are underrated and some are over rated but damn on paper we suck balls.

WTF! 2k best sim game for basketball mannn. Live is just pure………… no offense.

Monta will only comeback stronger. (haterZ)

by 61ixty on Sep 22, 2008 5:37 PM PDT   0 recs

I only play Live. I hate 2ks graphics

and the gameplay for the most part. In fact, I hate 2k sports period. I hated Nfl 2k, I hate NBA 2k, NHL 2k, MLB 2k. It’s all about EA Sports.

by StSaints408 on Sep 22, 2008 5:53 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

dude

live is fucking terrible and so are the graphics

by Foulacy on Sep 22, 2008 6:06 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

U must be the only one

who plays Live anymore. Better graphics? Everyone on live looks like they have a ton of eye shadow on. Gameplay? How stupid is a dunk button and a shoot button! So you’re gonna try and dunk from the 3 point line? Not to mention the HORRIBLE A.I.
Trust me I’ve been playing Live for years until 2k7 came out with that shot stick-best idea ever. Give the 2k series a chance; play the demo for like a week and you’ll find out how much more reaslistic it is.

by Captain Jack on Sep 22, 2008 6:43 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I love how you hate 2k with a passion...

but don’t front on how super rad LIVE or anything EA sports is… you’re the worst car salesman ever! Give me a reason to switch Dun!

by Tony.psd on Sep 22, 2008 11:42 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

been playing 2k since 2k6

Monta will only comeback stronger. (haterZ)

been playing 2k since... uh, 2k actually.

I feel old.

2k is the best

lol @ live. they messed up when they tried to have the best graphics instead of gameplay when 360 first came out. ever since then they were never able to catch up to 2k.

by bojangles408 on Sep 22, 2008 7:45 PM PDT   0 recs

damn… jkidd is at 92 but dirk is a 91

2K Blows...

NBA Live is better plain and simple, the ratings just prove it, whoever works at 2K is clueless on the ratings

by pbra17 on Sep 22, 2008 10:30 PM PDT   0 recs

I'd love to hear why...

I have an extra 60 in my pocket, why should I switch to Live? What new improvements are gonna make me wanna dish loot out for it? Every year its the same game… eye candy… dunkfests… stiff controls… bad camera angles… thank goodness I only rent it! What is it about 2k9 that’s gonna make me switch?

by Tony.psd on Sep 22, 2008 11:45 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

by Skeptic con Urquell on Sep 22, 2008 11:09 PM PDT   0 recs

The ratings don't me ANYTHING!

The game is going to have the same stat/roster updates that Live is doing with the “Living Roster”.

And like EVERY season, there are player who are going to surprise and play well above their skill level, and those that are gonna stumble out o the gates and play below. So this should not be a big deal to ANYONE.

Personally, I prefer 2k in every way, live is to “Arcade” like for me, but some people really like that….so to each his own.

Oh..and as for the person who made the statement regarding the letter ratings…the regular stat ratings are still there, you have the option of seeing them also, it’s just a quicker way of viewing a players overall stats.

by esco41510 on Sep 23, 2008 9:43 AM PDT   0 recs

those are for players who make significant progress by leaps and bounds. the only person i can recall last year was Bynum and Paul. players like Turkoglu’s rating did not even budge.

by vinchenzy on Sep 23, 2008 11:29 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

We should have a poll...

Which ones better?

Live sucks. 2K is 2k times better. And I’m not saying that just because I used to work for them…

Is this how we base games now, on the Ratings? Stupid, u can change the ratings if u want to

Put a little mustard on it

by The Barnes Supremacy on Sep 23, 2008 11:23 AM PDT   0 recs

you kinda made yourself sound biased...

but then again EA does suck at making sports games period

by gswLLBatman on Sep 23, 2008 10:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

should be..

Biedrins – 83
Wright – 76
Randolph – 75
Ellis – 87
Jackson – 85
Maggette – 85
Azubuike – 78
Turiaf – 79
Harrington – 78
Belinelli – 74
Watson – 72
Hendrix – 72

Im not sure how you give Belinelli a 77 compared to Biedrins’ 81…

How are you going to seperate one of the top 3 rebounders in the league(by minute) from a rookie guard who didn’t even play, by 4 points? They need to start taking surveys from fansites all over the country to get a more accurate estimation of the talent.

by JakeGittes on Sep 23, 2008 10:35 PM PDT   0 recs

Anthony Randoiph

He has a C in athleticism… Marco, Marcus, and CJ are ranked higher! WTF is that>
