Monta Was Injured in a Moped Accident
Monta had a great year.
Monta got a huge contract.
Monta was given the keys to the franchise.
Monta got injured.
Monta said it was a pickup basketball game.
Monta had surgery to repair his injury.
Monta lied.
Monta said the cause of the injury was something other hoops but didn't get into specifics.
Monta was injured riding a moped.
Ellis, 22, who signed a six-year, $66 million contract extension with the Warriors during the offseason, tore a ligament in his left ankle and sustained a high-ankle sprain in what one of the sources said was a "low-speed" mo-ped accident, according to the report. He underwent surgery in late August and is expected to be sidelined for another two months.
Monta won't be back until mid-December / January and it's uncertain how this affects his long term outlook. Did we just pay $66 million for what is now damaged goods?
Monta disappoints all Warrior fans.
Vote on what the Warriors should do.

low speed moped accident. calm the fuck down, that guy.
what do you want? for him to dance a little jig for you? sing a little ditty? you pissed he can’t do this ’cause he was uppity enough to ride his moped?

You are not smart
If you voted “do nothing” or “tear up his contract.” Carry on!
"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."
by GameSix on Sep 25, 2008 1:36 PM PDT 0 recs
well
they should tear it up and re do it. but we all know that can’t happen. but if they shoudl do anything they should not pay him for amount of games played, since he broke the contract even on such a weak way of getting hurt.
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

answers to any question
about what Warriors should do (and no doubt -will do) are written in Monta’s contract any action should be based on something -actually i think Warriors should do nothing -just let the contract work -if there is nothing about “low speed mopeds” or “dumb way injury” …well -shits happen’

here's the problem
the warriors might actually have less say in this than we all think. the nba has a right to fine and/or suspend monta for this incident. though it is a far smaller “mistake”, latrell sprewell would be exhibit A. the warriors suspended him for a few games, and the league extended that to the season (later reduced).
but assuming the league lets the warriors take care of this, the should either do nothing or fine him around 500K. Anything else could severely hurt the team, not only in this season, but the future. i’m guessing monta learned his lesson. if the organization punishes him more, the “hard feelings” game starts up. and that is DEFINITELY something you don’t want at the start of a 6 year contract. monta loves the dubz and the dubz love the warriors. it would be a terrible idea to jeopardize that.

I don't think you fools know...
the awesome raw power of a moped?! I know if I just became a multimillionaire at 22yrs old, the first thing I would do is hop on a sick ass moped and redline that bitch to 25MPH! F&ckin’ retard. If he fully recovers i’ll get over it, but so help me if he’s a step slower. Can’t the kid can run faster than a damn moped, f%ck was the point Monta?! Anyway, Im pissed more about our potential these days than Monta being a rags to riches stupid ass mississippi boy. I guess the only bright spot in this is other bench and young players will get more playing time to grow. I still don’t want Monta at point, but hopefully someone else while he’s out will be sick at point and we can refigure things. F$ckin’ warrior luck, never fails to amaze.

(Other) Refund some money to season ticket holders!
Not much but at least $5/ticket per game. If I buy damaged goods in almost any other “market” in life, I can take my product back and get a refund or discount. Not with the license that is good ole’ GSWHoop Tickets. Instead, they offer me some “awesome” deal on parking where if I pre-pay for the entire season, I save $1/per game. Hell, with that savings over the course of the year, I can buy the equivalent of 5 beers. (41 games x $1/$8 beers = approximately 5 beers (this assumes they don’t jack up the beer prices). Man, they make the playoffs for one-season and act as if their product is worth what they charge.
This will be my last year dropping good coin on season tickets.

I'm with you
If he is fined, which I doubt will happen (mediocre team + disgruntled franchise player = total failure), some percentage of that should be passed directly to people who paid to see him play. It’s simple, follow the money. If he’s fined, it’s going to be a marginal amount, that the owner can do nothing with (see the S.F. Chronicle today). A piece of 500,000 dollars divided up into season ticket holders could go a long way for fans both financially and mentally. It would show that ownership cares. let it be known that I expect the team not to fine him and sweep this under the rug.

Agree with you in that it would be too much creative thinking/empathy for the fan base
to give us as much as a $5/game discount. I expect the warriors to conduct business as usual and I will not be renewing my season tickets next year.
Any and all emails I have sent to them regarding their bogus parking “discount” went unreturned. Let me be clear, I am not hurting financially and therefore am not complaining about ticket prices, but when they offer you “discounts”, understaff the concessions, raise ticket prices, and generally treat you as a second class citizen, that’s where you have to draw the line. Here’s to hoping Monta makes a full recovery.

500K? Really?
Vladamir Radmonovic was fined that much for missing 2 months. And he was already 2 years into his contract with a total contract of only 30 Million.
If the Front Office finds that he may be affected long term then I say we need to terminate his contract.

Fine him half a million, let him learn his lesson, hes still young, let him grow up, a part of growing up is making mistakes. So what hes gonna miss a few months, he’ll be an all star caliber star for years.

They should fine him until he’s fit enough to return to action plus $500,000 on top of that.
Then welcome him back

nothing but support
Not like we were a championship caliber team with him…We are still a couple years away, and when Monta is going to all-star games and leading us deep into the playoffs when he’s 25-26 years old, this will totally be forgotten….Time to move on…Get behind him….Monta is our man.

Fine him, don’t fine him…. I can never understand why there is so much deliberation when it comes to things like this. If his contract specifically prevents him from riding motorcycles, then he shouldn’t be riding motorcycles. I never understood why the Bulls negotiated a settlement with Jay Williams when he threw away his career riding a bike when his contract prohibited it. If it was out of goodwill, sure, but damn if my employment contract said I couldn’t do something specific, and I went out and did that exact thing, the only thing I would be expecting is a pink slip.
That being said, I don’t think the W’s will do anything at all. Maybe a smallish fine at most. The kid is young, admittedly made a mistake, and is already getting skewered in the press for it.
And not to be cynical, but I’m calling BS on the moped story. Moped at slow speeds = sportbike at higher speeds.

a MOPED?
he must have been trying to pop a wheelie.
Are GAS PRICES affecting NBA PLAYERS too that they’re mode of transportation comes in the form of a moped?
I say ‘do nothing but support MONTA!’ it was a embarassing mistake as it is.
