about your expectations, it’s feasible that he is saying that to increase his chances of getting that contract extension. trying to make it sound like the present team’s chances of becoming elite is possible.

Contract issues
You know, that could explain what happened to the Warriors towards the end of the season. I remember they stopped playing team ball and went into a lot more isolation one-on-one plays. Looking back , it seems likely that the Warriors subconsciously shifted into one-on-one mode to show off their individual skills to everyone.
