Anthony Randolph

***okay. I forgot that Refs pick on Rookies with the foul calls. I initially actually didn't care if AR started or not (to just grant him enough minutes) but  after watching tonight's game I forgot about the stupid "you need to have the special treatment Michael Jordan calls and non-calls. "

I know I ask too much, but I hope tomorrow AR doesn't start. I hope Kurz starts and gets all the stupid foul calls. 37 minutes for AR off the bench. Thanks.

(watch Kurz start, do well with a triple double and AR gets 5 minutes of garbage time.)

Oh well. Go Warriors Still.****

-chill.

37 games into the Warrior season. We are 10-27. Play AR. What in the flying hell do we really have to lose? Another argument between Warrior fans on this site? Cool. I am ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL for it. Verbally execute yourselves over it.

IF I am dead wrong for the next two games. So what! we have another 45 games to make up for it.

Realistically, according to alot of so called "Experts"online and on Sports Radio, it isn't wise to play AR because he JUST isn't NBA ready.

He makes more bone-head mistakes, poor shot selections and TO's THAN he does with impressive Offensive/Defensive rebounds and/or putbacks, Monster Dunks, and Swagger Display after-the-THRASH-dunks or "Shut-the-EFF Up Punk" -ESPN Highlight individual Ogre Blocks.

-Yes because he is 19 years old.  So what if he commits 37 crucial turnovers in a game for us to lose.  You know what? I'll take all the Minor AR positives now with the Heavily Supreme Negatives..... over a Celtics or Lakers or Kings or Nuggets or Knicks or Cavs or Orlando or Spurs  "IN YOUR FACE YOU SHOULDA KEPT HIM WHEN YOU HAD HIM" chant at the Roaracle Arena 3 years from now.

Please continue to break down with a 37 paragraph essay of how it helps AR's self-esteem, maturity, and hands-on experience with basketball for ANTHONY RANDOLPH to sit on the bench and watch his teammates play so he can LEARN the correct way to play the game of hoops from the 37 feet away from the basket and not in participation of the game.

Alot of you guys are experts and deserve to  BE  the Warriors Front Office. (no sarcasm honestly, because you guys really blow me away with your knowledge.)

But you know what? I could care less about any of that for the next TWO GAMES.

Please grant me 37 minutes or more of ANTHONY RANDOLPH PLAYING TIME vs. the Blazers tonight and vs. the Pacers tomorrow.

We have an additive key injuries to this team now.... meaning more room for him to play, so please...PLAY HIM.

10-27. Our record to this date. I'm going to continue to root for the Dubs no matter what record we have and you experts will continue to break down how wrong I am to "feel" this way about playing AR.

You know what? SO What. I dont care! GO WARRIORS!  PLAY AR!

So.....if/when I am wrong, please mouse-permanent-press the "Publish" button for the next 3700 comments on here for how wrong I am on wanting AR to play so at least AR can use that as a motivation when I send him the email to read this site.

I'd

I’d be amzed if AR doesnt get at least 20 or 25 mins. How can he not when missing Jackson, Wright, and possibly Maggette.

Look, I completely understand why you want to see Randolph play

Depressed Warriors fans want hope, and hope manifest on the court to some is Anthony Randolph. He is their anointed one, blessed and cursed to lift us out of the dark ages.

And a part of me likes to see him play too. It’s exciting.

But please don’t confuse your own selfish desires with what’s best for the team and Randolph.

Does it help his self-esteem to put up poor numbers (seriously, look up his stats)? Does it help his maturity to be rewarded for his shaky fundamentals? Does it help his experience with basketball to play a few extra minutes every few nights- when he can stay after practice for hours anytime he wishes?

There was this dude in one of Bradbury’s stories who believed that when he didn’t see someone, that person didn’t exist. But just because we don’t see AR improve doesn’t mean he’s not scrimmaging with great players, taking tips from assistant coaches, and yes, learning about the NBA game from the best seat in the house.

Look at Marco and BW- they came along. Randolph will too, in time.

by antihero on Jan 10, 2009 2:16 AM PST reply reply actions actions   1 recs

I hear ya.

Very good points, especially with “But just because we don’t see AR improve doesn’t mean he’s not scrimmaging with great players, taking tips from assistant coaches, and yes, learning about the NBA game from the best seat in the house.”

I have no access to go to Warrior Practices. So if i read he is a punk in practice, I take it to consideration but not to truth. Stories always get easily misconstrued.

I love the development of Marco and BW.

My question is, what if AR is like OJ Mayo rookie quality. Wouldn’t you like to see averages of 19PPG, 4RPG, 3 APG, 2BPG by AR? I certainly think he is capable of doing that with enough EXPERIENCE and playing time. Who knows when that can happen. In a 10 game average. 2 year average. Please. Prove me wrong Nellie through the minutes played. I bet you could shut EVERYBODY UP by just playing him. You have nothing to lose with your so called “THIS ISNT A VERY GOOD TEAM.”

If we suck that poorly then play ALL the sorry ass saps that You claim they are to be…… especially the ones everyone in the OAKLAND GOLDEN STATE WARRIOR PLANET is claiming to have sooooooooo much TALENT AND POTENTIAL.. (which everyone on this website hates to label) sarcasm

My post should have been narrowed down to…“Give me 2 of the Next Two games of AR with 36 minutes plus. See what happens now.”

My emotions were poured into this post and easily shows.

I’ll add that every play that ends with a bone-headed turnover or stupid off balance jumper from beyond his comfort range is a play where the rest of the team learns nothing and does nothing to improve as well. If his play compromises the play of the rest of the team and their ability to learn to function as a unit, there’s a cost.

I think limited time, maybe not even enough for him to really see what he can do should at this point be a reward for showing something in practice. But gift time when he’s ineffective can harm him and the rest of the team.

Hello Marco! I’d actually prefer Rudolf getting the time cause he’s taller and younger so the POTENTIAL is better :>)

I've been saying this for the longest time...

As far as this season is concern, it should be devoted letting the young guys play to gain experience. I don’t mind a loosing season (but you never know… that’s the optimist in me) as long as I see progress. And progress means watching the young players get playing time. I think sometimes egos get in the way between players and coaches. It should be put aside and should be a reciprocal relationship. Both sides should think of doing it for the loyal fans. They are the ones paying everyone’s humongous salaries.

Does playing a guy who is as likely to take a bad shot or turn the ball over as he is to be involved in a play help develop the other 4 guys on the court? It’s still a team game.

I like AR too but Jae is right!!

by Kenfolks on Jan 10, 2009 5:29 PM PST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What I tink people are hoping for, me included

is that in a live game when he make a bone headed mistake he will learn from it, unlike practices where you dont have to think on the fly so much and with not nearly as much pressure.

“I think limited time, maybe not even enough for him to really see what he can do should at this point be a reward for showing something in practice. But gift time when he’s ineffective can harm him and the rest of the team.”

True Dat’ but you got to let him play through some mistakes and not have him looking over his shoulder when ever hes out on the court.

Does playing a guy who is as likely to take a bad shot or turn the ball over as he is to be involved in a play help develop the other 4 guys on the court?

Please think about the answer to this question before you say “Randolph will learn from his mistakes”. There are 4 other guy on the floor that should also be learning. Randolph can learn in practice, or after practice… just because practices aren’t televised doesn’t mean they don’t happen and they aren’t instructive. There are 15 guys on the roster. Each of them needs to learn certain things as well. If Randolph is just going to make boneheaded plays all day, let him do that on his own time, not that of the rest of the team.

Totally agree, but

if starting Rob Kurz at the 4 is the only other option, might as well give AR atleast 5 minutes or so at the end of the first half or something….

Too bad our front office is such a debacle, otherwise we might be good someday...

Yes, PLAY HIM

I really don’t know what else to say. You guys nailed it. I’m just hella eager knowing that our future front court is this guy, Wright and Biedrins. Simply amazing.

Randolph is already learning enough in practice

Yeah sure have him on the court but 10-15 minutes max for him a night.

We Believe 2.0!
I know the Warriors are a lot better than the way they're playing right now.
They just have to get healthy and dig deep. THERE'S MORE TO THIS TEAM.

he cant even play right now

he got winded playing 5 minutes. It shows how overwhelmed he is just trying to keep up in an nba game.

Nellie's system

you have 1 or 2 good games = sit on the bench
you shoot 1-10, 2-12, etc = you play the whole game

I will always be your fan JRich. Good Luck

I am surprised

What happened to all the Anthony’s fan? Were they so shocked by his performance tonight that they forgot to encourage him? Because he had his first start tonight?

10:45 minutes… 3 boards, 4 fouls and only one attempt. No points.. Oh, but he got +4. (Why do I have this ill feeling it has to do with TO?)

I wonder if he’s starting tomorrow…Anthony make me proud. (I am proud that he didn’t have ANY turnovers. Although I think he did tried too hard. Yes, that is so possible. I’ll give him credit though; he’s improving.)

by Shells on Jan 10, 2009 9:56 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don’t care how good or bad he plays, the more he plays, the more experience he gets, the more he learns. Give him his minutes here or there, but get him some minutes please. No more DNP on the boxscore, that is just absurd. The team is in rebuilding mode, rebuild it by developing your young talent, not by playing old veterans that aren’t getting any better and probably won’t be on the team for long. Thank you.

by runandgun on Jan 10, 2009 10:52 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

did you know?

talented players can be developed in practice. dnps when the guy is playing poorly are not a disaster. learning does happen without playing time.
