Rickey becomes sixth Oakland "A" to enter Hall [Athletics Nation]

Vote is in -- anybody understand it? | Rickey entertained in so many ways | Nobody will catch Rickey's record | Memories of Rickey being Rickey [ESPN.com]
I just want to know- who are the 28 clowns who didn't vote for Rickey? Did they not watch baseball in the 80's and 90's?

old time baseball purists...
those are the 28 clowns that wanted to believe that since no player has ever been given a 100% vote into the hall of fame that no player should ever be given that honor….since
ricky was a lock anyways…they figured one or two or 28 omissions should be good enough…

Rickey's a shoo-in, for sure
Though not just ‘cos of his stolen bases, which is his most overrated skill — and one of the most overrated skills in baseball. According to Joe Sheehan at Baseball Prospectus, the “break even” point for stealing bases is roughly 75%: if you’re doing worse than that, you’re actually hurting your team’s ability to score runs. Rickey’s SB/CS ratio was 81% over his career, so he generally helped his teams by attempting to steal as much he did, but not nearly to the degree people think.
Where Rickey was probably most underrated was in his obscene OBP skills: a career .401 — nine times in the Top 3 in the American League. As any good SABR dude will tell you, avoiding outs is the single most important skill a hitter can have. In his halcyon A’s days it just seemed like he was always on base for the Big Bashers. More than anyone else, he was the straw that stirred those great teams’ drink. As a Red Sox fan, I was always absolutely petrified of him.
Factor in his power (particularly in his youth, when it seemed like he led off every other game with a homerun), speed on the basepaths, and — maybe most impressive of all — the unbelievable durability and longevity, and it’s not even a debate. Yes, those 28 clowns who voted against him should probably have their HOF voting rights stripped.
-- That’s my opinion. Hate it or love it.
-- I’m actually going to dry-hump it if you don’t mind.

And...
in addition to avoiding outs he is the all time leader in Runs Scored. If there’s a more important stat in baseball I’d like to know about it. Take a look at the leader list to see who he beat out, the Top 40 are amazing http://www.baseball-almanac.com/hitting/hiruns3.shtml
I could be wrong but he might also have the most lead off home runs… He was just simply dominant. Very difficult to strike out. A nightmare at the plate… Whether he hit one out, or walked, or stole you just couldn’t get rid of the guy.

I'm willing to bet almost anything he'll be at the game tonight vs the Kings
And the Warriors announcer will show him on the big screen, announce him, and he’ll get his cheers.
