Trade talk...Earl Watson?
ESPN's daily dime says that he may be available: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-090113
I've always liked his game. He can score, distribute, and play solid on-ball defense. Think he would be an upgrade from CJ Watson. Although, CJ has been playing great...got to give him is props. But Watson would be a much better defender and could help "anchor" the D like Boom-Fizzle did in years past. I could see him starting at the 1 or coming off the bench.
**Side note: MONTE ELLIS IS NOT A POINT GUARD. I REPEAT, MONTE ELLIS IS NOT A POINT GUARD. His strength is getting that outlet pass around half court from the point or a big (following a rebound) and then taking 2 dribbles and attacking the rim. Playing him at the one would slow him, and the entire offense down. Plus, he does not have the vision of a point guard.
Watson has 2 years left on his contract at 6.2 and 6.6 million.
Perhaps we could have them include Joe Smith who has one year left on his contract at 4.8 million to clear up some cap room. They actually have a ton of expiring contracts including Donyell Marshall, Desomond Mason, and some other players I don't know too much about.
The players listed above are done so for salary purposes only to clear up cap room. I don't think any of them would help us from a basketball point of view.
The question is, who do we give up? Peep salary info below for both teams:

Ok... here's a trade idea
Granted, I doubt Charlotte wants to take on Maggette’s contact, but they might if it means dumping Mohammad.

Granted Felton is not involved and I bet OKC would want a 2nd round pick from us, but I think it’s a deal that clears the Warriors of the anchor that is Maggette’s contract and it helps the other two teams. Add bonus for OKC they get Watson, who played at OU in college.

That is a good trade to dump Maggette.
I came up with a good one. Send him to OKC for Joe Smith and Mason. They both have 1 year contracts so we would have Maggette and Adonal off the books next year, that way we have money to keep Belli, AR, BWright, and Morrow.

What would entice OKC to want Maggs? They’re a young team in building mode with 3 players they see as part of their future and a whole bunch of contracts that are going to disappear. They’ve got Durant who they feel is their 3 of the future who they’ve played at the 2 spot as well in Durant, and they’re playing Green, who many projected as a 3 at the 4 spot recently. Maggs can play off guard, but he’s probably more valuable as a 3, so he’s merely crowding out 2/3rds of their rebuilding pieces. What does he really do for them that the ton of cap space over the next few years doesn’t do better?
Put it this way. Imagine we had two expiring contracts and someone offered us Maggs. Would we take that deal? Why should they?

I like Earl Watsons game
i wouldn’t mind having him as a warrior. But i also love Jamal Crawford as a Warrior and i know he wants to be here for the long haul and getting Earl would mean he would be coming off the bench or we would start a ridiculously small lineup. I don’t know yet. I do still believe we need a true point guard for the team but i want Crawford to stay put. I won’t make my complete decision until i see how Monta comes back and takes on the challenge of running the point.

How would Earl help the Ws??
I actually like Earl as a player but if he is your starting PG you are dreaming of ping pong balls not playoffs. If you think he is a good backup PG…well the Ws have many more immediate problems then backup PG where CJ is solid.
The worst place in the NBA to finish is 6-14 just bad enough not to make the playoffs and good/unlucky enough to not get a top 5 pick. Be bad, get lucky and draft Blake Griffin then this franhise has some options.

THEN WE CAN WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! THIS YEAR TOO!

Wait, are we getting the pretty good players or giving them up? (I ask for clarification as sometimes it’s not clear which of these two choices Warriors management is using.)

just what we need, a point guard change
Just when the team is starting to come together you want to trade CJ for another average player? Watson would come in and play no better than CJ for the rest of the year while he tries to figure things out, then likely be dumped in a trade in the summer.
Enough talk about trading the point guards. I can see a move for a big man, maybe getting rid of Maguette or Wright, but ball handlers are too crucial to a team’s ability to play together. We need to roll with what we got right now

RIGHT NOW I'M
PEEEING IN THE WIND, and it is getting ALLLLL over me.
That is how I feel about pretty much any Warriors trade proposal at this point.

No. Earl won’t help this team nor will he help take off our bad contracts. It’s a no for me.

Why would Charlotte do this trade??
They already have Gerald Wallace at SF. They need a SG. Maggette and Wallace aren’t good fits at the 2. This is why they are playing Felton at the 2 and Augustin (who is too good not to start right now) at point.
There’s NO WAY Charlotte makes this trade.

Probably true...
But, the bobcats virtually pulled off this same trade earlier this week. However, instead of getting Diop and Watson, they’d get a scorer that would allow them to player Bell off the bench where he belongs. They’d have a starting lineup:
Augustin
Wallace
Maggette
Diaw
Okafur
Plus, with MJ running things he might just go for it. The problem I see is that OKC is total geared around getting draft picks ala Portland. I’d imaged that they’d have to get a couple 2nd rounders or a future #1 to make this deal. It might be worth it for the Warriors if they’ve completely soured on Maggette.

I heard that Oklahoma was willing to part with one of it’s late first rounders to get a deal done. They have a boatload of picks the next couple of years…

You must have a medical card
As a ex-sonics fan, current berkeley resident warrior fan, you do not want any of earl @#&%$ Watson. He has one of the ugliest jumpshots ever, kills momentum dribbling around doing nothing and is overrated on defense. If GS trades for this fool I will be on my third team in a year

Hey there...
A fellow ex-Sonic fan…. man we keep popping in the darest places. I don’t think people hear want Earl Watson, such as they do not want Maggette. Watson contact is 6.2 for this and next season and if the Warriors can escape the mistake of signing Maggette by picking up Watson than all for it. At least they’re not looking to get a much worse ex-Sonic pg in Luke Ridnour.

LOL
He said Earl Watson. Dude was average at UCLA. He’s below average in the NBA. I’ll stick with CJ Watson for the $200,000 we pay him.
