LeBron Displays His 'Flawed' Ability, Drops Warriors At Buzzer [Fear the Sword]
Looks like our friends over in Cleveland thoroughly enjoyed the clutchness last night from their lottery gift rental at the expense of another Warriors defensive breakdown [Talking Points].

Good for them even though they seem to have gotten a little carried away by Rick Barry's recent comments. Barry means well (I think?) he just has a funny way of expressing his thoughts.

Free LeBron! Seriously man- get outta the midwest aka the armpit of America as soon you can. Can you imagine how much more of a superstar LeBron would be if he played in a huge market like NY, LA, Chicago (the Oasis in the midwest), or the Bay Area?

They're so good they're "off the charts!"

Okay bad joke.

System maintenance I presume. We’ll look into it. Sorry about that.

No problem, I figured it was something like that. I noticed the site was down for a few minutes this morning.

or the Bay Area???

I’m ready to give 175 Million for Lebron to reside in the Bay!!!! All the rediculously bad executive moves the dubs have made would all be forgotten if we landed the king hahahaha! But seriously what a heart breaker last night. With that said when Monta is 100% were gonna be nasty!

by BarnettBeBallin on Jan 24, 2009 11:37 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Seriously

I’ll trade the entire current rosters of the Warriors, Giants, and A’s for him. I could be sold on giving up the 49ers and Raiders rosters as well.

hahaha

I think Vernon Davis could play PF but he’d probably attribute to more 2nd chance pts for the other team by dropping all the loose rebounds that came his way hahaha

But

Vernon Davis would get into the All-Star game for all those blocks!

Cavs Broadcast

did anyone hear their broadcast? I caught it on espn. “Good night Oakland…We’ll let ourselves out” Very nauseating..ah well in 2010 Lebron will be saying “Good Night Cleveland I’ll let myself out” hahaha im still freakin bitter bout this loss man!

by BarnettBeBallin on Jan 24, 2009 12:14 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

No, but just reading it annoys me

Things like that make me grateful that Bob and Jim are reasonably “honorable” and sportsmanlike when they make calls.

Well, except for… “Put that in your flattop!”

by IQofaWarrior on Jan 24, 2009 12:30 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

i agree

i cant even tell you what Bob’s words were as lebron sank the game winner but I remember his delivery expressed the pain that all warrior fans felt about that moment

by BarnettBeBallin on Jan 24, 2009 12:33 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Good thing I recorded it

“… at 3, at 2, lebron, to win the game… He does! … He does!”

He says that last part with a mix of respect for lebron making the shot and anguish for our loss. I didn’t remember it live because I was too busy typing Noooooooooooooooooo!!!

by IQofaWarrior on Jan 24, 2009 12:40 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

that sums it up

i was too busy changing the channel

indeed

my standard end of game ritual involves immediately erasing the game from my dvr, turning off the tv, and assuming the fetal position wherever i am situated. if my girlfriend attempts to console me i then leave the room silently for maximum dramatic effect…

It's funny to me...

that people feel LeBron ‘NEEDS’ to be somewhere else. What would he gain?? More commercials? More marketing money?

LeBron knows his legacy is going to be rings, not billboards. He’ll play for the team that gives him the best chance to win those rings, regardless of which ‘armpit’ it is…

its not what he needs

its what he wants. He will get more commercials and more marketing money. And he will play for the best team that gives him the best chance to win and fortunately for him that’s any team he goes to.

by BarnettBeBallin on Jan 24, 2009 12:43 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Disagree...

Any team that has the cap room to sign him will likely not have a very good roster. That means he would likely go to a team that had a horrible year the season prior.

LeBron loves the drama and he loves shocking people. It wouldn’t surprise me, though I think it unlikely, that he sign an extension this summer just to make headlines.

One fact few people talk about. The Cavaliers are also positioning themselves for the summer of 2010 to make a run at LeBron AND another of the big targets. LeBron will have a choice — go rebuild another franchise, taking 2 or 3 years at least to make them a champion or stay with Cleveland, with a roster that is already championship caliber and is adding to that talent.

yes

I have heard that as well. They are trying to open up space for a Chris Bosh or another 2010 impact free agent. I for one love that Lebron was raised in Ohio and I think that bringing C town a few rings would make him more of a legend then heading to NY or wherever because he would be the man who saved a franchise and a city who has not had much championship success.

But with all the speculation of Lebron wanting to jump ship to be the man in a big market, do you think he would want to share the spot light with another all star in his current market? You can make the argument that he is already doing this with Mo Williams but in no way are Williams and Bosh (or 2010 all star free agent) the same player and I am curious if that is something Lebron wants to pursue.

by BarnettBeBallin on Jan 24, 2009 1:09 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

That's a great point...

I think he;d be more willing to share the the spotlight in Cleveland where there is little doubt he is THE MAN, than go to another city where he comes in with a couple of guys and he never really is given the credit.

Lebron makes more in endorsements than Arod, Jeter, Kobe, and Shaq. In fact, it seems the only people making more than him right now are two golfers and a boxer. Perhaps he should switch sports?

by jcmurphy on Jan 24, 2009 1:00 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Don't bother...

No one wants to hear it. Their(and it is everyone who lives in a big market) core belief is LeBron will leave Cleveland because, well, it is Cleveland. This isn’t 30 years ago. Viral marketing, the internet, a 24/7 news cycle, allow a player to be huge regardless of where he plays.

LeBron could play in Europe, Asia, Russia, anywhere, and be as big as he is. Hell, his high school games, from little ole’ Akron, were on ESPN.

Free Lebron

“Free LeBron! Seriously man- get outta the midwest aka the armpit of America as soon you can. Can you imagine how much more of a superstar LeBron would be if he played in a huge market like NY, LA, Chicago (the Oasis in the midwest), or the Bay Area?”

This is a really good point. If he were in a bigger city, he might be famous enough to be on the cover of GQ. Heck, he could be the the first black man on the cover of Vogue. Instead, he toils in obscurity in Cleveland. Poor guy.

how much more of a superstar LeBron would be if he played in a huge market

Key word in bold.

Well for starters the open thread for his team’s excellent blog wouldn’t get just 4 comments, it’d get 1410+.

Just kidding guys! Just some silly jokes from a fan from a large market team that well… sucks.

Good luck to ya’ll in Cleveland!

Haha

And one of the four by our own Dungeness Crabdribble.

On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine LeBron’s career getting much of a boost from kids posting “I love LeBron — NO HOMO!!!” 376 times, Shells writing “Go Warriors still!!!” 424 times, and Vonteego Cummings listing the names of all 610 swimsuit models he’d like to get with…

Cleveland...

…is looking pretty damn whiny about the Rick Barry thing. What he said was pretty specifically aimed at his coaching and at his using screens properly, which all things considered he really doesn’t. He also mentions his shooting motion, which given that he’s a decent outside shooter now becomes quite pertinent. If he had a more polished form, maybe he’d be better. That’s not an insult, per se.

Fact is, having listened to Barry for a few years when he was on KNBR, his biggest sticking point is working to improve your game. It’s one of the reason both he and I have a sizable disdain for Shaq, because given his size and skills, he should’ve been in his prime MUCH more dominant than he even was.

by Zack Vank on Jan 24, 2009 1:03 PM PST reply actions   1 recs

I would agree, I was whiny!

It just annoys me because I don;t know what else the kid can do. He’s not going to make everyone happy, and there are flaws in his game. If, like in Barry’s day, LeBron had gone to college for 4 years he’d be in his 2nd year. HIS 2ND YEAR!!!

Instead of tearing the guy down, look at the good he does and let his game grow at its’ own pace.

still

you’ve got to be frustrated with his shooting range and his propensity for terminating his dribble. he could average 35-40pts a game if he put the time in to developing more range.

I'm not really...

…reacting to you guys so much, cause fan passion is what blogs are for. I think I’ve just become increasingly worn down listening to the announcing crews on away games. Jim Barnett and Bob Fitzgerald have proven to be paragons of objectivity compared to a lot of crews… I think the worst was San Antonio.

Mann..

Man i honestly thought we were going to pull that one out!! All props to Stephen, after all those turnovers earlier..there is still a reason why he is our Captain. It showed in the last minute who our Cap was and he came through. In other hand Lebron’s shot..u cant do anything about that one, but i would’ve put Jackson on him cuz he was doing so well guarding him in crunch time. Oh yea and Monta, great game..a pretty good game for his first game of 08-09.

Any one agree with what i just said fellas?

yeah i agree

Lebron's not going anywhere

I don’t buy into that “Lebron to New York” talk. He’s from Cleveland, and they’re a title contending team. This is like when Webber’s contract ran out with the Kings. The media was saying he’ll be gone because Sac isn’t a big market. Low and behold, they made him their $100+ million man.

What happened to the post that said

“If we go 35 and 3 the rest of the way, we’ll have the same record we had last year…when we didn’t make the playoffs” ???
That rates right up there with unstoppable baby , should be preserved in warriors folklore :>)
Why do things disappear in the night anyway? This place is not run by neocons is it?

Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

Lebron

More of a superstar? Maybe in the 80s and early 90s. But in the present day with the globalization of everything and the Internet and so forth, I don’t think it’s quite as big a difference as people might think.
