3 WAY TRADE VIA ESPN TRADE MACHINE
Ellis
Jackson
Marion
Magette
Beans
Yes seriously Magette and Marion. Jackson and Ellis
Since nellie is determined to go small with it anyways why not
Had to have some fun with all the shawn marion trade rumors.
All thats left really is Cj watson/Morrow and maybe marcus banks filling in for the backcourt/wings.........thats all thats needed. This trade clears up the mess in the backcourt.

throw in a first and it looks good.

stupid..
haha, i wouldnt do it, but it is fun to think of that starting line up. We would just lose all depth
well
hilarious but if it were possible to grab marion for way less than the all those players going out that would of course be better. anyone opposed to getting marion at all?
Marion
I’d give up Crawford for him, actually.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is some elaborate plot to drive me to suicide, isn’t it!?!? who put you up to this!? if you would invite something as abominable as shawn marion onto your favorite basketball team, i think there is either a deep seeded masochism churning within you, or you’re about as discerning as a rat dining in a dumpster.
i would rather watch a team of adonal foyle clones attempt to navigate a basketball court for 82 games than have to endure one jump shot attempt by shawn marion in a warriors jersey.
shawn marion's jumper makes me want to crap a book on how to puke.

So...
We trade Belinelli, Wright, Azubuike, Crawford, and Randolph for Marion and Banks? I wouldn’t do that at all.

no way
Wright and Randolph are young with have too much upside and Crawford and Ellis are going to form one of the most difficult back courts to stop offensively. But it sounds like a Rowell deal

If you remember the Rookie/Sophomore Game....
Chris Paul + Monta Ellis were unstoppable.
Remember they NEVER play defense in the rookie-sophmore game...
Blake Griffin anyone?

except for the HEAT. ha.
"Awesome! Totally awesome! All right, Hamilton!"
Ouch
No thank you. We couldn’t retain Marion after this year, so that’s basically giving up Crawford, Azubuike, and two of our best prospects.
Honestly, you know what lineup I like?
PG: Monta Ellis/Marco Belinelli/CJ Watson
SG: Jamal Crawford/Kelenna Azubuike/Anthony Morrow
SF: Stephen Jackson/Corey Maggette
PF: Anthony Randolph/Brandan Wright
C: Andris Biedrins/Ronny Turiaf
+ a year or two to develop.
that is a darn good lineup, if you ask me.
that is a darn good lineup, if you ask me.
but not as good as Lebron and nobody
Now wheres the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us.

oh dear
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but not only is that lineup not very good, its also loaded with bad veteran contracts. Move one of thebad contract vet wings (Craw, Jack, Maggs) plus any one of the tradeable young assets (Belinelli, Randolph, Wright) for a legitimate 4 and you may at least have yourself a playoff team. I think you may have to much confidence in Monta’s ability to single handedly take this team from awful to good.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
No
I’m not putting faith in monta to be our savior. But I do believe the following:
1) We have been solid in a lot of games this year (beating Boston, hanging with lakers, etc.), despite not having our best player (Monta), and having our other 3 20ppgs constantly injury riddled. If we have all 4 of those guys healthy, really good things can happen.
2) By the start of next season, being healthy and having gotten into a rhythm again, I feel that Monta is a top 15 player in this league.
3) Beans is a top-3 rebounder in the league.
4) If just one, preferably 2 of our 4 “projects” (Belinelli, Randolph, Morrow and Wright) turn out to be what we think they can, we will have a very deep bench.
5) We are the youngest team in the league. And despite losing, we have a ton of depth, when healthy.
I just feel like we need to establish our lineup, and stick with it for a season. As soon as we lost Monta and Baron, everyone knew this would be a stink year. So why are we worried with trades right now? I say give us a full, healthy season of all of our guys playing together, and see what happens. Let’s compare them to last year’s 48-win team.
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Monta Ellis
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Al Harrington
C: Andris Biedrins
key bench players: Matt Barnes, Kelenna Azubuike.
This year/next year:
PG: Monta Ellis
SG: Jamal Crawford
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Anthony Randolph
C: Andris Biedrins
Key bench players: Corey Maggette, Kelenna Azubuike, Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli, Anthony Morrow, Ronny Turiaf.
Ok, at PG we lose a lot of leadership and experience. But even Baron said Monta was the best player on the team. He may not have the leadership yet, or the crazy passes, but he has much better fg, and is as talented of a player. At SG, Crawford averages as much this year as Monta last year, with a better chance to explode for 50, and better ft. SF is the same. PF, Randolph provides much more defense and rebounding, plus an actual low-post game. C, Biedrins is much better. Bench, we have much more depth, some seriously good projects, a 20 ppg scorer (Maggette is our Jason Terry), and a solid backup to Beans, which we lacked last year in the Notorious POB.
Looking at it that way, I don’t see why we can be better than .500 next year, if we stay healthy.
Basketball requires chemistry, which requires time. It’s not baseball, you can’t be the Yankees and just buy the best players and be good (unless you’re like the Celtics and buy really really good players). Give the team a season to play together, then we can talk about changing it all up again.
by bradyk2 on Jan 24, 2009 3:19 PM PST up reply actions 3 recs
I dont think a deeper bench comes close to making up for the loss of Baron….. a big PG who could defend, run the offense, score, take the big shots, and allowed Monta to play off the ball.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
I guess
Those are big shoes to fill. But we are on pace to win, what, 22 games? less than half as many as last year. I really don’t think the loss of Baron, countered with the addition of a deep bench, maggette, crawford, and an improved biedrins, is 26 games for the worse.
no its not, but that team with Baron was a borderline playoff team. If we want to improve significantly its gonna take more than health and an end of the lottery draft pick. We cant just sit back and expect this team to contend or even make the playoffs next year without making any significant roster moves. The hole at the 4 spot is a huge one, and Odom would be a good fit. It could also be argued that there is too much backcourt/wing depth. Everyone already complains about the way Nellie’s rotation fluctuates so frequently but trying to squeeze Monta, CJ, Belinelli, Crawford, Buike, Morrow, Jackson, and Maggette into about 142 minutes is next to impossible. Isnt the obvious move to try and move one of the overpaid wings for a 4?
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
obvious?
yes. doable? eh, really depends. in order to work it out, we’d need to deal one of the young guys with one of the bad contracts and possibly a pick to secure a dependable 4. or you could move a young guy and a bad contract for a pick and an expiring for flexibility and another stab in the dark come draft time.
i’d be up for a randolph/crawford combo as a starting point for a deal. you could switch randolph for wright in that situation depending on what deal came around too. i think maggette and jack will be too tough to move with their longer term deals. so, it almost has to be crawford that gets moved. and i know that people absolutely love randolph, i also don’t know why. he doesn’t have superstar written all over him, as many say, he has “best case scenario: josh smith” written all over him, which is a really good player, if it pans out that way, but since it might not, if the right deal comes along, you move him. i also think he might be a more attractive asset (because of that potential that everyone talks about) than wright is.
these are things we have to think about to build a winner. we need to make a couple moves before the team is any better than a 7 or 8 seed. that can be done by, as you suggest, clearing the logjam and getting a power forward.
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
Baron Davis and Al Harrington >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jamal Crawford and Anthony Randolph
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
Pointers
Ferj – Thank you. and oops, yeah, I did forget CJ! Although I also forgot Pietrus for last year.
sam23 – I’m not saying we’re as good as with Baron. I’m just saying that we don’t need to force anything drastic, and that we can be a quality team if we get the chance to play an entire season together. With that said, I would gladly trade one project and maggs or crawford for a serious PF. but trading away half of our future for in iffy pf whose contract expires next year? that’s just silly.
Baron Davis >> Crawford, but as far as going deep, I’d prefer Randolph > Harrington, after Randolph’s had a full season to be a starter.
I’m just saying if we cant be as good with the current roster as we were with Baron and last years team with Baron was only a borderline playoff team then to be a really good team we do need to make some kind of a drastic move and trading one of the veteran wings with a large contract is the most obvious move. Its not that I dislike the squad or any one player in particular, its just that this team cant be all that great with their current roster.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
Errr
I kind of agree. And again, if we could get a HEALTHY brand or boozer like player by trading 1 project and maggette or crawford, I’d be all for it.
But we have a few pieces: scorers, bench scorers, a rebounder, an energy guy of the bench, and depth. No one knows yet just how good Monta, Biedrins, Morrow, Wright, Belinelli or Randolph can be. Who knows?
AR has a low-post game???
Anthony Randolph is ridiculously raw. His offensive game consists of nothing but an errant jumper and monster put backs. I’ll kill myself if he starts over Wright at PF. Randolph has the basketball IQ of a 10-year old fan. It kills me every time he tries to dribble like a point guard, turn the ball over, pull up for an ugly jumper, or send an errant pass sailing out of bounds. Right now, he’s nothing but athleticism. It’s like having a Ferrari without brakes or a steering wheel.
Randolph reminds me of J.R. Smith. All the physical tools and individual skills to become a great player, but is not because of a lack of fundamentals and a low basketball IQ.
"beans"= the worst nickname ever
Dude, he's 19
JR Smith is 23.
Further, his game is nothing like Smith’s: he’s already proven, despite his rawness, that he’s a gifted rebounder and shotblocker at the NBA level (11.5 and 2.7 per 36, respectively). Smith’s only two “skills” — dunking and launching from 3 — are far more common, and far less valuable.
Further, while Smith has gained a reputation in his young career as a bit of a slacker, Randolph by all accounts has a great attitude. He always bounds on the court full of vim and vigor, ready to scrap, run into people, attack the boards … yeah, turn the ball over, hack people and launch ill-advised shots, too … but again, he’s 19. The flaws are real, and could still easily prevent him from being a superstar. But it’s completely ridiculous to compare him to a dime-a-dozen 23-year-old chucker like JR Smith.

Randolph by all accounts has a great attitude
Wasnt there just talk that he didnt work that hard in practice and that his attitude was kinda poor? I agree its a little unfair to compare him to Smith because of their respective amounts of experience. But I also wouldnt call Smith a “dime a dozen chucker.” At 23 the guy can score with just about anyone. He’s got serious deficiencies, but he’s still got more ability than about 90% of the SG/SFs in the NBA.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
agreed. I don’t think Smith is a dime a dozen. In fact, I think he has a pretty good offensive package with decent handles, great athleticism, and a streaky shot. The only thing really holding him back is his low IQ and his ridiculous shot selection.
It’s true comparing him to JR Smith might be harsh and unfair because of the difference in age and experience. I might just be sick of him not playing to his strengths and his childish attitude (seriously, dude always looks like he’s gonna cry). But I have to ask: what is holding Smith back from developing a higher basketball IQ/shot selection? In my opinion, Smith had everything needed to become a great player but the heart and intelligence. He came into the league at 19, 18th pick overall. What stops Randolph from developing Smith-Syndrome? I think here we’re a little bit high on Randolph.
…But I would love to eat my words in a couple of years.
"beans"= the worst nickname ever
yea I’m with you, and I was among those who got a little caught up in the Randolph-mania following training camp. I’d love to be wrong, but I think he’s very overrated around here. If he’s this well liked around the rest of the league then I’d deal him now while his value is so high.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
oh, and
I’d also love to see JR Smith in a Warrior uni. I know we’re overloaded at the wing right now, and we’d have to give up way more than he’s worth to land him, and its a total pipe dream….I’m just saying I’d like to see it.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
been awhile
since i’ve seen a really really horrible trade proposal. Thats given up a TON of talent for a 3rd option point guard and a overrated SF/PF.
this is what I woud do
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
I wouldn't do that either
Come on fellas. get your shiz together
you wouldnt trade an overpaid wing who we’d have to overpay for the next 5 years (when we have an almost identical player at less than half the cost already on the roster) a big man who cant rebound, a semi-decent guard prospect (who will likely struggle to find minutes on this team) and another guard who couldnt crack the rotation before, for a legitimate 4 who can rebound AND play in Nellie’s system? I’m afraid Toronto might not do this deal with the number of bad contracts they are forced to take, but it looks like an easy yes from the other two teams to me.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
Odom has one year left on his deal
so basically you’re trading a guy that is probably as good as him but is a SG/SF PLUS other guys for a rental. No thanks
why would he be a rental? even if he was it was I’d rather have 14 mil of cap space than Maggette. But I doubt we couldnt retain Odom on a multi year deal for even less than what he was making before.
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
Haha the Lakers will never do that
Blake Griffin anyone?
by RunNdGun on Jan 24, 2009 4:49 PM PST up reply actions
at first im thinkin yes
but not if we have to give up randolph and bukie. let’s hope that in 2 years randolph will be as good as marion but taller and a jumpshot that isn’t retarded
how, we have no money unless Craw opts out. I love the idea of Odom as our 4 though, see my trade idea above. He could likely be re-signed to a long term deal for less than what he’s making now. If we made that kind of deal and then drafted another 4(Monroe Hill, Griffin) we’d have a playoff contender that looked like this-
Monta/CJ
Crawford/Buike/Morrow
Jackson/Buike/Randolph
Odom/Rookie 4/Randolph
Biedrins/Turiaf
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
No way
Odom has one year left and he has been an idiot in the last year’s Finals.Maybe we can be a playoff team for 2years but not for the future.CJ sucks,he can’t even defend and score in fast break.Marco is much better than him as a PG and marco is potentially better.
CJ is not a bad backup PG at all
"It’s a hobby of mine. Kind of like collecting your fingernail clippings or pooping in jars." -olympic mike
so what can he be?SG?
He’s too short for SG.
Oops
I misunderstand ur meaning.Anyway I think belli is a beetter pg than him.
No no no no on....
Shawn Marion is not dependable on offens. I’d rather have Maggs over him any day.
The FO will not do this trade
Unless they are retarded even they are
This is the worst trade idea ever
Marcus Williams by himself outplays Marion + Banks and you want to give up ALL our future fot them?
Jesus, and I tought that trade idea to get Shaquille ONeal 2 months ago was bad…..
