What do you guys think of this trade to get odom?

possibly throw in CJ watson or a draft pick?

Odom would fit our system perfectly at the 4. Maggs would be great off the bench for the lakers and as far as i know they need annother backup PG? idk

Personally I think we need to trade to get a 4 and try to draft a 1 since there are so many quality 1's available in the draft

what do u all think?

I dont think LA would have much interest in trading Odom for two smalls, especially with Bynum going down last night. I think they could have interest in Jackson though.

too much?

we dont even use mwilliams EVER

and wright…hes good but we gotta give a good prospect to get odom

and maggs would fit LA system far better than he does GSW

i think its a very fair trade for both sides concerned

Odom isn't even a PF,

he’s a SF. We all know you have a hard on for Odom, but you need to calm down. He’s not needed. Why would you want to get the “missing piece” for a young team that won’t even make the playoffs. Odom wouldn’t make us contenders or even a playoff team.

Nelly has wet dreams about starting Monta at center.

wrong

Odom IS a 4. One of the biggest reasons he doesnt start for LA is that he doesnt fit very well at the 3 and they need outside shooting. He’s their first big off the bench and relieves Gasol and Bynum. Odom would be a perfect fit here because he rebounds well, has a good midrange shot for a 4 and can pass and handle extremely well. We wont make the the playoffs this year with him, but we’d have a good shot at retaining him and he’s a much better option at the 4 for next year than anything currently on the roster. However, since LA just lost Bynum to a knee injury I doubt they are looking to trade Odom unless it nets them a big man who could contribute THIS season.

right

because clearly what we need is another scorer……why would we want a guy who can play the 4 and rebound?

I like Odom

especially for our system and with the gaping hole at the 4. But LA really wont want to part with him now unless they get another big man in return. How about something like this instead? I think its fairly realistic.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=31901653783039245054961710163441615635&teams=28281328282892813139&te=&cash=

So LA starts Farmar/Kobe/Jackson/Gasol/Bynum(if his injury isnt serious) and has Fisher, Vujacic, Walton, Ariza, Powell, and ONeal off the bench. They get a whole lot tougher and better defensively (which is exactly what they need) and add insurance in case Bynum’s knee injury is serious. In the playoffs the 3 big rotation of Gasol/Bynum/ONeal is tough to matchup with on both ends of the court and Jackson gives them some outside shooting in the starting lineup and allows Kobe to not have to guard the other teams best wing player all game long.

Toronto starts Calderon/Crawford/Moon/Bosh/Bargnani with Solomon, Belinelli, Kapono, Radmanovic, Humphries and Mihm off the bench. They get a scorer at the wing (which is exactly what they need) and can give Calderon a little more rest with Bargnani’s buddy Belinelli. The bad contracts (Walton, Vlad) are tough to swallow but there dont seem to be many better offers out there for JO right now and they need to show Bosh they can contend this year or next so he’ll stay. The only way to do that is to add a wing scorer. Vlad could actually be pretty productive off the bench in that system too, so I dont think his contract really hurts that much. Walton’s is just bad, I’m not sure theyd do this, they may insist we include Wright instead of Williams which could be a deal breaker.

The Warriors then have Monta/Buike/Maggette/Odom/Biedrins with CJ, Parker, Morrow, Wright, Randolph, and Turiaf off the bench. I dont love parting with Jackson, Craw, and Belinelli for a couple guys who could leave via free agency but this deal would certainly give us the ability to outbid most offers to Odom. I think he’ll have to take less than what he’s making now and with both Odom and and Parker off the books he could probably be retained and still have some left over. The only problem would be if he opted to take the MLE with a contender, but I dont really see him doing that. This clears more playing time for young guys like Morrow and Buike who most seem to like and want to see more of. It also allows us to draft the best player available at the draft instead of basically forcing us to draft the best PF available. It eliminates almost all the bad contracts (other than Maggette’s) from the roster.. Even in a worst case scenario Odom leaves and we have a roster full of young guys AND cap flexibility similar to what the Thunder have now.

yea he does

without Belli, theres no chance at all Toronto even listens. Theyd take on 2 or 3 bad contracts just to get one good wing player for this season. Theyd need at least one good prospect to be involved in the deal. There have been rumors about the Raptors liking Belinelli since before he was drafted.

no they say he is drawing the most interest. thats not the same thing as most value at all. I cant imagine CJ having more trade value than Belinelli.

lol

yes trade all our players and watch odom bolt the very next year? no thanks.

by saintdee on Feb 1, 2009 12:18 PM PST reply actions

yea it would be terrible to have 10 mil in cap room instead of a ton of overpaid veteran wings, wouldnt it? why do you say odom would bolt? we could probably offer more than anyone else next year.

maggs is sweet

but he doesnt fit our system at ALL once we have a solid lineup

he cant pass, he cant shoot from distance, and once he gets the ball its the maggs show, which slows down our offense.

as much as i like him, he doesnt fit our system once we have the right pieces
