Personally, I always thought the box score needed an "assist attempted" stat, so the assist maker doesn't look as bad if the shooters aren't hitting.

interesting analysis, but
massa doesn’t overtly state what style of play is more valuable. clearly having a PG that can create from wing makes the defense commit to one side allowing a skilled passer to hit a cutter coming from the weakside, beating the defender by a step. receiving the ball where you can do something with it is critical and baron was excellent at that with barnes and biedrins.

You’re right, he does not discuss which is more valuable at all, partly because he’s trying to make the point that they are both valuable and complementary styles of play.
