Best Trade Partner for Jax? NO doubt, it's the Hornets!
Alright. What's good in The City?
I just spent the last year of my life serving as a volunteer down in New Orleans, LA. I tell you this not to tout myself but rather because I think it has helped me understand who the Warriors currently best match up with for a trading partner. Furthermore, I was fortunate enough to catch my first ever NBA game last year down in NOLA when the Warriors came in and scored one of their better wins of the season in spite of a dominant performance by CP3. Seeing the Warriors that night was a great reminder of how close we are in many ways to truly reaching into the upper echelon in the West. That being said here is my 3 part take on what I see as the general overview of the club, its needs, and some ways to address these needs with our current resources.
Overview:
Undeniably we have tremendous talent. Players such as Ellis, Ammo, AR4REAL, 'Dris, Curry, Wright (Make these Broken Wings to Fly!) give us a bevy of compelling reasons to watch as a fan base and real depth in terms of playmaking ability. However, it is also undeniable that this squad needs to form an identity both as a team and as players. We Believe! is over and most of the key players from that squad are gone. It's time to turn the page. How will this one read? Truly nobody knows what the new core identity of our young squad will be, because I believe that these kinds of things can't be artificially manufactured, and if they are they turn out badly. Rather, this process will come through the decisions these guys make for themselves and with each other. I like what I see when Ammo and AR4 are playing summer league like it's the Playoffs. That is the hunger and passion to prepare yourself to have the will and edge to dominate when it matters that has made the likes of Jordan and most recently Kobe unstoppable. Flat out, players that dominate when it matters are guys that don't back down because they have trained themselves specifically to thrive in those situations and to be that kind of player. All players train, but not equally. On the day after John Wooden's 99th birthday his maxim that "failing to prepare is preparing to fail" is more true than ever. Now, I just wish he could coach our current squad! Nevertheless, it seems that Ammo and AR4 have gotten this message on their own and have announced to the rest of the league and most importantly to their teammates and franchise that they are on the cusp of getting to that next level and breaking through mediocrity to set a new standard. Clearly I'm high on the the makeup of our young guys, but who do they to need to get to help them get to that next level?
Needs:
Veteran leadership: Without question it would be nice to have some more experience on our roster as I think it would help lessen the overall burden on our young guys and keep them from being overwhelmed, but NOT to the extent that it interferes with the overall formation and development of our young nucleus.
Remain in Position to Compete for FA in 2010 class: There will be major players available to add this summer so moves to better us this year cannot compromise the gain we could make this next summer. I see the SF position as the place we are most in need of landing a difference maker and with the likes of Joe Johnson, Josh Howard, T-Mac, Ginobili, and Jefferson being available then I would like us to go after one of them.
Coaching/ Ownership: Do I think any other coach could have done what Nellie did with the We Believe team? No. It was miraculous. However, this isn't that team. Also, we've seen that you get a lot of give-and-take with Nellie, not all of it is positive or suited to our current situation. The latter gives me more concern than the former. I really like what I've seen from Keith Smart. I want him to get a chance. I think it could help change the culture in our locker room and the view of our organization around the L. I think it would be the right time to make a move because it would send a message that we have turned the page and we could come in with new credibility in how we conduct our business internally and with upcoming free agent class. It would be a bit of a risky move considering Keith's previoius stint in Cleveland wasn't too successfull (nobody could have been with the roster he inherited!), but I think he has shown enough in his work developing our young guys to prove he deserves the opportunity.
Handling Jackson Situation: If handled in a positive manner by our ownership that would be a good sign to free agents coming in to GSW. If it's a disaster ala Tinsley/Marbury I think that would create some real damage in going after free agents. Perhaps irreparable.
Proposed Solutions:
Move S-Jax: He wants out. His contract is bad, but he does have value especially to teams set up to compete right now that are low at the 2/3 spot. He can help somebody in that situation solidify themselves as contenders. The team I see best matching up with us is the New Orleans Hornets. They are the thinnest of the teams in contention at the 2/3 spot and Jackson would be an immediate upgrade. The team's core of Okafor, West, and Paul are all signed for 3 or more years and that leads me to believe that Jackson's contract would fit in with the overall direction they are going for in the next 4 years plus. Furthermore, Paul really wants to contend now and has been vocal about needing to make a move. He's excited they got Okafor but getting him a legitimate wing player would really be a message from NOH management that they are committed to winning and keeping Paul around. I could see NOH making a deal for those reasons stated and the fact that I don't see them being a major player for FA's and this could be their best opportunity to score someone of Jackson's caliber and position due to his reduced value in light of his current situation.
The deal I like best would be sending Jackson and Claxton to New Orleans in return for Peja. The salaries match up and Peja's deal has an ETO for Summer 2010. Even if he declines that option we still retain him for less years than S-Jax. We also get a player well suited to our current style of play. Peja though not what he was in his prime can still get some minutes for us because he shoots well from outside. I think we have enough depth at 2/3 position to cover for his weaknesses or to give us different looks with our lineup. Peja's also been a winner and star player throughout his career and would bring some valuable experience to our young core. I think he might be the best return we could get for Jax at this point and someone that could help us compete right now without killing us for FA crop to come next summer.
I think this deal could put us in good position to develop towards being a contender. Maybe not the sexiest move to make but do you think it could be a piece to getting where we need to in the long run?
Please send me your responses and criticisms of this deal and my overview.
When this young group takes over, people are going to be shocked at how shiny Gold can be.
Peace!

Remain in contention for 2010 free agent market? Don’t you mean get in contention? I think we are about as far away as we could possibly be from being able to score one of those guys. We have no cap flexibility and no winning. Not a good mix.
I bet CP3 would like to have Jack, but as I’m sure you picked up while working there, ain’t a whole lot of spare cash in NOLA these days, and that includes the basketball team. I lived there from 2002-2006 and it was poor BEFORE Katrina.
Peja? I mean I guess. The whole reason we won that game you reference last year was that our offensive strategy amounted to “whoever is guarded by Peja, take it to the rack.” Highly effective given that he can’t guard ANYONE. I’d almost rather get Eddie Curry because I think Nellie might actually be tempted to USE Peja.

then the obvious solution would be for us to keep Jax and trade everyone else for CP3 ?

No, because the salaries don’t match. And the Hornets probably wouldn’t make that trade.
But don’t let that deprive you of another opportunity for a trollish cheap shot at the Warriors’ current roster…

Gee, this trade sure looks like it goes through, saves NOH ~1million dollars this year (they are in the luxury tax right now) and gives them a player upgrade with Jackson for Peja. It also gives them a lot more financial relief next year after Claxton expires. There is nothing crazy about this trade idea (except how little we are getting back with Peja’s age and contract. Thanks Jack!)

This trade helps out New Orleans even more – saving them 6 million dollars this year, while significantly improving their team. It also helps us out by clearing up the two contracts that are most likely to cause us problems down the road and giving us some veterans to guide the youth without impeding their playing time.

going all in
This one gives them Jackson, Maggette, and Claxton, while we get Peja, Posey, and Mo Peterson. They save roughly $7 million this year (factoring in the luxury tax,) significantly upgrade their SG and SF positions, and enjoy the benefits of Claxton’s expiring contract next year as well. We… don’t have to worry about Jackson and Maggette’s contracts preventing us from resigning our young guys and get veterans with good attitudes and playoff experience.
This is the best result I could hope for.

I rec'd it
This would be the coup of all time, from our perspective. James Posey is the PERFECT compliment to our lineup with Jack and Maggs gone.
1. Monta
2. Ammo
3. Posey
4. Randolph
5. Goose
Turiaf, Buike, Curry, CJ in the mix
No way this happens. Not to The Suck.

No thanks to Peja.
I’d rather keep a disgruntled Jax on our team that plays limited minutes (if that), than have Peja.
If Stack Jack actually keeps his word about giving his all on the court, then I would rather have his trash talk against opposing players, defense, and sometimes get-hot 3pt shooting.
Also, A-Mo over Peja any day.
Buike over Peja any day.
Heck, even Anthony Randolph as a SG-SF over Peja any day.
Yes I said it. AR at swingman. Yez! (once he gets a consistent 19 foot jumper).
Sorry man, its just “Hell No any day” for a Peja trade.

True.
As long as A-mo and Buike steals all of Stack Jack’s minutes and that player with a shorter \ expiring contract rides the pine or plays less than 37 seconds a game then I’m cool.

C'mon
Peja isn’ that bad. Aside from the fact it would be a major coup to dump Jackson and his huge burdensome contract, Peja isn’t a complete albatross. He’s a career 40% 3-point shooter, and that’s pretty good for a guy 6’10. He doesn’t pass the ball particularly well, but he collects rebounds at about the same clip as Jax.
No, I understand that Peja is a significant downgrade to Jackson, but of course that’s the only way this trade works. My point is just that Peja could make a positive contribution beyond facilitating Jackson’s departure.
I don’t think he’s that bad. I mean, he’s not someone you add with hopes of improving this team, but he’s no Devean George.

agreed
Im fine with it, he doesnt necessarily (had to spell check that one) have to play 42 min a night like jack maybe like 15-20 a night and not having jack on the team is going to get a lot of other players more shot opp (i will name off all the players i think because everyone else does it, but its not like everyone else doesnt already know)ie: ammo, ellis, curry, ar4 so its not a bad trade plus getting a cancer like jack off a already flucked up team is the main objective.

the idea is...
That you can’t make demands like we need front court help and dump a contract of disgruntled player. Maybe if Jackson was a impeding FA then you might have some leverage to make such type of demands.
Love the Peja idea because it just like doing a buyout for Jackson. In the sense that the Warriors would like a salary cap hit for two seasons for Peja’s contract, but would be in the market to deal Peja’s 15 million dollar contract for the 10-11 season and then actually get some assets like the PF/C that we need instead of the glut of guard that the Warriors roster currently has. This is much better alternative than to just by out Jackson and I believe a better option than keeping him around if he’s going to continually up the ante will his outburst, public comments, etc.
Cliche Time: sometimes you have to take a step backwards (Peja’s contract) to take 2 steps forward (dealing Peja’s expiring contract for front court help).
A Sonics fan without a team... but after 6 seasons now of GS Warriors season tickets have convinced me to adopt the boys from Oakland.

Luckily our guard glut is going to end
speedy/law/cj are all expirings. Morrow too but I’d think we are keeping him. Probably also keep one backup 3rd guard (speedy or law I would assume) in case of injuries.

I would take Sean Marks at this point. Just someone who can play 15 minutes off the bench.

As far as New Orleans is concerned, how about
Jackson and Watson for Posey, Marks, and 1 or 2 2nd rounders. Then put together a package involving Maggette for that serious bulky guy (ahem, Denver) and we’ll be set with Posey and Azebuike at the 3. This year, Morrow’s offtime can be covered by Ellis,Law, and Azebuike. A lineup of Ellis, Azebuike, Posey, Randolph, and Bulky Guy would be serious. I really would not trade Biedrins even if Bulky Guy took minutes from him in the short term, because Bulky Guy would not be around by the 11-12 season when Randolph is a 20-10-4a guy, but Biedrins should be as the perfect compliment to a star 4 (Randolph at that time).

Not the ideal trade, but Jax is making sure the ideal never happens. Get rid of Jax and Claxton and maybe buy a little more playing time for Buike and Morrow. We could definatley do a lot worse, don’t know how much better we can do.

I really can’t see NO committing that much money to sjax but i do feel it would be good for them. I really dont care who we get for sjax as much as i care that he is gone before the season starts. If he stays he’s gonna destroy any chemistry that monta, curry, buike, and ammo are building. Peja would not play much but would be more good veteran leadership that this team needs. I would love to see it happen but would be totally shocked if it actually did.

I could actually seeing this as a plausible trade. I mean, theres both positives/negatives for both sides and this trade seems more in the realm of happening than the other ones I’ve seen on this site.
For the Warriors:
Jack is unhappy, plain and simple and we know how bad a player can play if he’s disgruntled like Jack is now. We trade for Peja and even if we let him ride the pine and get spot minutes here and there, it opens up more opportunities for Buike, Ammo, and even Maggette. Peja at this point is definitely less than Jack in terms of talent, but at this point of Jack’s career at GS, he’d be better suited elsewhere.
For the Hornets:
Again, Peja ain’t doing much for them right now and he’s got a pretty hefty contract. The Hornets are also very thin at the swing and we’ve all seen what an inspired Jackson can do for a team. A “big” (and I use that term very loosely) of Paul, West, Okafor, and Jack can do more damage than a four of Paul, West, Okafor, and Peja.
I’d said go for the trade! Benefits both teams. And although Jack’s contract is two years longer than Peja’s, Jack is also getting paid about a third less than Peja, so in terms of numbers, it’s about an even trade. I’d say lets do it!

I'd do it
Maybe Peja comes in and hits some 3’s for us now and again, but most importanlty, Jack is gone from the team. I don’t care what he says, he is not going to play hard, and considering how he has burned every possible bridge to the team (even throwing his teammates under the bus for his irrational play,) I can’t see how anybody would even want to play with him. It’s simple, addition by subtraction.

what about shane battier?
I dont know if the rockets are willing to part with Battier but they definitely need more offense since yao is hurt and Ron is gone. I see that as a perfect move for us because I actually feel like our offense is better without jack but it’s defensively where losing him will hurt us. Battier is a top notch defender and can hit the open 3 which is exactly what we need from the 3 position.

it'd be nice,
but I think Battier is worth more to the Rockets than Peja is to the Hornets, which in my eyes, makes the Hornets trade more plausible

Rockets won't trade Battier
Hornets might trade Peja, especially if we sweeten the deal with picks or money. He’s not producing what they need him to and has an expensive contract that they want out of.
Battier is the prototypical Rockets player; his box score stats don’t look like much, but he contributes a lot to a winning basketball team. The Rockets go to great lengths to target such players and bring them in. Unfortunately for our trade hopes, Jackson appears to be the exact opposite. I’d love to have Battier on my team, but it isn’t going to happen with Jackson.
by toddaverth on Oct 15, 2009 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
they might
T Mac isn’t coming back until January or February, and his time in Houston is coming to an end anyway. The Rockets need a swingman exactly like Jackson. Scoring, 3s, passing, free throw shooting. The ‘little things’ Battier does can be handled by guys like Dorsey and Hayes. The Warriors will still have 3 guys to play the 3: Azebuike, Maggette, George. Plus we can draft a 3 and he’ll be ready by the time Maggette is gone. This will free up more playing time for 1s and 2s in a ripple effect, which should improve cohesion. I did not realize that Battier was being paid that much and his 2 years is perfect especially since we have the option of drafting a 3 and/or signing a star 3 this summer. Straight up, the perfect trade for both teams= Jackson for Battier and a first rounder. I repeat , Jackson for Battier and a 1st rounder.

Jackson scores, but more through shooting bunch and not by shooting particularly well. He’s not a particularly good three point shooter either, though that doesn’t seem to stop him from shooting them. He’s not at all the sort of player that I can see Daryl Morey going after and there’s no way that he’d dish out a first rounder for him.

I doubt there’s a single team in the NBA that would even consider taking Stephen Jackson over Shane Battier. Battier’s a better player, a much better teammate, and has a much better contract. I do love your chutzpah, though: not only do you want to swindle the Rockets, but you want to grab their first rounder while you’re it.

With a not pure PG like Brooks, the Rockets needs someone who can pass. Battier is not a black hole for sure, bat he can’t make 5 dimes pg like Jackson do. They hasn’t a simple player in their line up who can do 20 points pg easily, Jackson can.
T-Mac is over. For the Rockets may be a smart move to change a top-3 defensive forward, since they have signed Ariza, forward for a more complete guy like Jackson, who is also a good defender. With the trade and without major injuries, IMO Houston is PO team
For the warriors it would be the best move at this moment, Battier definitely would improve our D, hits 3’s with great % and can guard PF very good, since he is 6-9 in shoes, that means no Maggette at the PF. Curry-Ellis-Maggette-Battier-Biedrins would be a great small-ball line up for me. Jackson+first rounder is a good offer.

You're being more reasonable
It is more reasonable admitting that we’d need to send Houston our 1st round pick to pry Battier away from them. Clearly the Warriors would benefit by turning Jackson into Battier; he’s exactly the type of player they need both on the court and teaching the young guys.
I’m still not sold on your theory that Houston benefits from this trade. They don’t need to win now. T-Mac comes off the books this year and they can either resign him for much less or sign someone else to replace him (or both.) They can expect to get Yao back next year. Getting a high lottery pick only helps. Houston is better off if they “develop their young guys” this year and don’t waste salary cap space this year, positioning them for a quick rebuild and long term dominance ala David Robinson’s Spurs. I won’t be surprised if Houston milks their injuries for all the losing they can get away with.
Even if you don’t take that (rather cynical) view, Brooks, Ariza, and Scola provide the Rockets with 3 strong scoring options to go along with strong hustle/defensive players like Battier and Landry. I also wouldn’t be too surprised if Houston wins a number of low scoring games with good defense and efficient offense. They’ve won without T-Mac and Yao before. They could do it again.
Either way, there isn’t nearly the motivation to pick up a high-scoring option as you might think, especially one who could be regarded as inefficient and a potential problem in the locker room.

It’d be great to have Peja compared to having Jack, partly because his contract is shorter. Of course, I’m sure the Hornets feel the same and don’t expect Jack to give them a championship. They don’t need to do it. It’ll make them worse in the long run, and they know it.

Definitely one of the more plausible Jack dumps I’ve seen — the Hornets have the ugly contract to offer back, the desire to lower their annual payroll, and a superduperstar to keep happy. I don’t think it’s an outright no-brainer that CP3 would want Jack by his side… the Hornets have been a low-drama team the last couple years, and Jack is, well, Jack. But Jack would help them, so it’s plausible.
I have to say, I’d be a little leery of adding Peja. He’s the exact type of player Nellie might fall in love with, despite his obvious inadequacies at this point… I’d hate to see Peja get minutes over Morrow or ‘Buike. Part of me thinks it’d be better to add a non-factor like Curry than a name like Peja who might siphon time from younger, better guys. Still and all, though, this would be a fine outcome to the Jack Attack.

Do it already
People who want to get something positive back for Jackson are smoking crack. Peja’s contract is shorter, but the Hornets get immediate lux tax relief. If they will take Jackson and Claxton straight up for Peja, do it. I’d even take Curry from the Knicks, but I doubt that Donnie Walsh would take Jax, given that he helped dump him on the Warriors in the first place. If the Warriors can’t get a shorter, less toxic contract back for Jackson, they need to just send him home, Marbury him. He’s a cancer to this team.

Yeah
The team with the weakest bench in the entire NBA for frontcourt players with an owner allergic to long contracts is the right fit….
Oh wait.

we could, and may have to, do far worse than Peja for Jack … and hoping we get a useful PF for him is beyond crack’n
Okafor was a salary move if I read NOH’s offseason correctly, and in that light it’d be hard to see them taking on Jackson’s contract ….
still think Chicago might be the team to call …

Peja for Jack is the same sort of salary move
If you use any of the 3 trades I listed above (Peja for Jack+Claxton, Peja+Posey for Jack+Maggs, or Peja+Posey+Peterson for Jack+Maggs+Claxton) the transaction is just like the Okafor for Chandler swap, it saves them immediate money in slightly reduced payroll, but extends their payroll commitments out for more years. (Chandler is on a large short contract. Okafor on a smaller, 5 year deal.) The deals that include Claxton are even better for NO because they also give them an expiring contract at the end of the season. Furthermore, Jack and Maggs 4 year deals are not that painful to take on because they already have money committed for that time frame that keeps them from being big free-agent players and need to upgrade by trades anyway. Jack and Maggs are upgrades over Peja, Posey, and Peterson now and, while the contracts are 1 or 2 years longer (with Claxton it average out to the same time frame,) they become expiring contracts the year before Okafor and the year after Paul and West. This trade gives the Hornets a strong squad for the next 3+ years that they can build, if needed, with a big man at the mid-level exception.
This deal is just like the Okafor deal, except it is even better for the Hornets financially. The question isn’t whether the Hornets like it, but whether it is good enough for the Warriors to consider it “fair value.”

curry morrow and buike can already stroke it w the best of them (hopefully curry) wat we need is an athletic big who plays tough d but can still fit into nellie ball

Not even that
We just need a (as in a single player) that is a backup 4. Rather it be Landry, Maxiell, Joe Smith, Nick Collison etc.

We’re not going to get those with Jack. No one wants him. We can tough out this year with Biedrins, Randolph, Mikke and Turiaf. Between those four, we can get by until Wright returns by around playoff time (I’m guessing). Next year, we’ll be SO much better off with Peja as an expring. We can even trade him next year as an expiring. That’s not a bad idea.
Also, the Hornets would be a better team with Jack. I’d keep Jack on the bench still, until the trade deadline for the most part. I’d play him in big games, to give him opportunities to prove he has trade value. Then at the trade deadline, if nothing better presents itself, Jack for Peja works.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.

Rather have a 6'10"
PF/SF than Maggette at the four. Maggette creates mismatches by being small, but the defense suffers too much. The league, especially the west is so big that Maggette is still smaller than most SF’s at 6’6". I actually like this more:
Curry/C.J./Law
Ellis/Buike/Morrow
Peja/Maggette/D.G.
Randolph/Peja/Wright…eventually
Goose/Turiaf/Moore
A funny thing that a sports fanatic told me today: If the dubs play Jax, and he acts in obvious ways that screw up the team, (acts considered to be detrimental to the team’s credibility), like he did with the Lakers, they can suspend him without pay to get the money back. This should be enough incentive for for a respecatble athlete, (I know, we’re talking about stack jack). If he keeps acting so selfishly, then he will never be traded and perhaps never play in the NBA again, (buyout, I hope not). When he realizes that his own credibility and character will be marked for life if he continues on this destructive path, he would be an idiot not to change his attitude. With it being the first year of Adonal Foyle’s buyout coming off of the books, it would be sad to see another five year speed bump for the Warriors to do sometihng.

Jack for Peja
Obviously we make this trade if they would accept it. You make just about ANY move for Jack at this point. My points in the first comment were directed more to the fact that NOH probably is not in position to take on a longer contract. They also recognize Peja’s value as a trade piece next year and bringing in Jack would essential commit them to winning with CP3, West, Jack and Okafor. Solid core, but with no one to back them up I doubt that team goes very far.

that's what came to my mind too
We FINALLY get Adonal’s buyout off the books, and now we’re going to have Jackson’s big money contract buyout on the books too.

Jackson and George for G Wallace. I would rather have G Wallace playing hard for the next 3 years than disgruntled Jax for the next 4….this way we wont decrease our defense either

Gerald Wallace is a much better player than Stephen Jackson even when Jackson is fully gruntled.
But Charlotte would do this … why exactly?

Didn’t the Hornets just sign Chris Paul to a huge extension? They don’t really have to break their bank to try to keep him happy, he’s already theirs. That is, until he starts complaining; which he hasn’t.
The target I’m seeing is Cleveland. If they fall off this season with Shaq (which I can see happening), they’ll need to do something to make Lebron happy or he’s leaving to New York. Maybe that’s when we can unload Jackson?

if lebron goes to NY
i can see them doing that after they trade him and use jack to fill the void of losing LBJ but they wouldn’t want a neuicence like jack around the king..it wouldn’t even cross my mind if im their GM..thats why i dont think the Big Z deal will ever go down either.

Hornets fan
I’d do this move in a second but U have three concerns as to if NO would pull the trigger:
1 I don’t know if B Scott and Jack get along. They have had some beef when Jack was traded to San Antonio from Jersey.
2 Shinn, our owner has made a big deal of high character guys recently, and I don’t have a beef with Jack wanting to win but recent and past events are definitely a strike against him, and
3 Long term salary commitment as has been stated.
That said, I think the Hornets would be willing to throw in Juju. Hw can’t shoot the 3 which is an obvious strike against him, but he is an uber athletic 3/4 who is a lonckdown man defender (though his team D needs work) who doesnt need shots to be effective. Nellie would probably play him at the backup 4. He essentially our only real trade chip other then our first rounder, but this move gives the front office an excuse to get rid of him for value.
I doubt if Juju will ever work for NO becuase our offesne is predicated on wings who can space the floor and nail spot up j’s. He can do just about everything but that (and be a first scoring option, not something you need). Also, though we will be able to sell assets to getunder the books this year, it may be a different story next year. This gives us an excuse to make a salary move veiled as a trade move.

If you mean Julian Wright...
I’d be willing to see if Julian’s got the right stuff to play Nellieball. Its a low risk, high reward pickup for the Warriors and another potential piece of a young core; especially with rumors that he can play defense.
I would have thought you’d be more inclined to go with one of the more complex packages including Maggette & Jackson to give Paul more toys to play with (as I haven’t heard much good about Posey and Peterson lately, Jackson and Maggette are slightly younger and more productive than either of them) and keep Wright around as an inexpensive potential replacement as they get older. Unless you were talking about the big trade already, with J. Wright as a sweetener. I’d be very happy with that.

If we can get rid of Jax’s contract it really wouldn’t matter what we get back. You might have to worry about Nellie playing Peja too much but that’s better longterm than having Jack on the books for so long.
Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

Y'all check out New Jersey's situation
They have Terrence Williams to develop at the swingman and dozens of millions coming off this year. So much that they could afford a max guy and more next summer. But they don’t have much offense. Let Williams sit behind…..Jackson. We should get Tony Battie straight up for Jackson the salaries match and both teams should benefit. That team belongs to Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, and their main guys they sign. Jackson will not have the leverage (especially with the competition from newcomer Lee) to cause problems there, especially if you-know-who wants to go play for his buddy Jay-Z.
by polar on Oct 20, 2009 11:12 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Nets won't eat into their cap space
They have enough for two max contracts next summer (and with their new Russian owner practically rolling in money, you have to expect massive spending next summer) if they stand pat with all their current players. The most they’ll do is take buyouts (say from Alston) from players so they can sign with contenders. Past that, they have practically no incentive to win now, which is what trading for Jackson would indicate. They have a very young core (Harris-Lee-Williams-Yi-Lopez) and there’s absolutely no hurry to win. The first overall pick (Favors?) in the 2010 draft on top of a marquee free agent or two is a far bigger boost than anything Jackson can provide for them.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

Jackson for Battie plan
Come to think of it if they don’t get you-know-who which they probably won’t, I smell them going after Stoudemire, who will get doubleteamed and kick it to….Jackson. That should raise his shooting % or nothing will. Meanwhile the Warriors will be enjoying our new free agents as well as increased opportunities on the perimeter for our current guards.

Crazy idea
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yj5jdr4
Here me out on this one
1.Cha – They want to save as much money as they can. 26.5 mil in expirings is saving money….
Pg – Felton, DJ
Sg – Henderson, Flip
Sf – Tmac , Vlad ,
Pf- Diaw, Brown, Hayes
C – Chandler , Ajinca
2.Cle – They can’t match up with ORL or Bos. There just to stiff up front. Jack makes them as good or better then LAL and I say wins the title. Title = Lebron stays.
Pg- Mo,Gib,
Sg- Jack, Parker
Sf- Bron, Moon
Pf – Varejoa, Powe, JJ
C- Shaq, Varejoa
3.Hou- They badly need help up front and Z fits perfectly. D13 becomes there two.
Pg- Brooks, Lowery
Sg- West, Barry, Taylor
Sf- Ariza, Battier
Pf- Scola , Landry, Dorsey
C- Z, Andersen, Pops
4.GSW – Self explanatory
Pg- Ellis, Curry, CJ/Law
Sg – Ammo, Buike
Sf- Crash, Maggs
Pf- AR, Wallace/Maggs , Moore
C – AB, Ronny
Let the hate begin…….. (sorry if this was to long.)
