I felt the same thing when I heard this

Nellie helped him get his reputation back
and let him do pretty much anything.
I wonder what Nellie though of the extension back when it happened.
Good questions. Hmm...
Maybe… “I guess Jack’s decided to go through the rebuilding process with us.”

nellie is so above jackson and his bipolar moment. Jackson looks like a complete fool and is losing this PR game. He’ll shut his pie hole and play ball soon.

Very happy with how Nelson is responding
Nelson is:
1. acknowledging that there is a problem
2. acknowledging that Jackson feels the way he does
3. acknowledging that he doesn’t fully understand why Jackson feels the way he does
4. acknowledging that Jackson is a good player that can contribute a lot to this team
5. repeatedly expressing love and respect for Jackson
6. expressing a willingness to satisfy Jackson’s trade request if (and only if) it does not hurt the team
7. refusing to judge Jackson (which is more than I can say for myself)
8. speaking very positively of this years team, calling it very good and saying they have a chance at the playoffs this year (despite Wright’s injury.)
I can’t think of anything I would have rather heard Nelson say. This is exactly how this situation should be handled. Jackson needs the opportunity to realize that the team does appreciate him, that it is a very good team with or without him, but the team wants him and will be better if he plays well with them.
A lot of this has probably grown out of Jackson’s friendship with Harrington. Al doesn’t like Nelson very much and has said so repeatedly. It is easy to see how, with Harrington’s feelings coloring the picture, Jackson would focus on the negatives surrounding the team and forget about the positives. I think it is no coincidence that Jackson’s trade demand came while he was with Harrington. On the other hand, Jackson feels like he has to stand by what he says, so I don’t expect a retraction.
I can hope for one of two things:
1. Jackson to quietly realize that this team is good and getting better, he can be a part of it, and forgiveness is extended all around. Jackson isn’t going to be the leader of this team any more, but he can still be a good part of its success.
2. a fair trade, like Jack and Maggs to NOH for their SF/SG’s with shorter, larger contracts.

I would generally agree — it sounds like Nellie’s responding as well as can be expected. My only quibble is Nellie’s repeated claim that we’re a little thin at small forward. In a Jack-less world, we still have Maggette, Morrow and Azubuike to play swing minutes. That’s far from “thin” — all three of those guys are pretty close to Jack in value, and I’d say at least one of them’s better. That’s not to mention occasional appearances at the two by Monta and Curry, which make us even deeper at the swings. We really don’t need Jack, and it’d be great if we could move him soon, because Nellie would probably realize that quickly.
The other thing is that Nellie’s absolutely right: this is a weird time for Jack to demand to be traded, considering that the team’s showing some real promise. To be clear, I think we’re a longshot for the playoffs at the best… on the other hand, it’s not like Jack is on the Kings here. If he were a truly committed Warrior, he’d see plenty to like about this roster, and be motivated to help the young ‘uns along. Whatever his beef is, I don’t think it’s team quality.
Anyway, a really interesting, candid, likeable interview… made me remember why I like Nellie so much.

Yeah, sounds pretty positive. I wish the guy with the frog in his throat had pressed nellie for an answer as to why he didn’t pull Jax after 2 fouls and why he din’t take some of the heat from the refs to protect his player? It don’t look smart to for him to have let Jax get the feeling that his team isn’t behind him whether it was true or not?.

Ralph is soft on Nellie
Ralph doesn’t really ask Nelson those sorts of questions, mostly, I suspect, so Nelson will keep coming back and talking to him.
I suspect Nelson wouldn’t be happy about being asked that and would have repeated his “Its over. I’m not going to talk about it.” line. Nelson isn’t going to say on the radio “I wanted to let Jackson make a fool of himself” and he isn’t going to say “I thought Jackson could handle it.” He’d look like either a jerk or a fool.
The truth is probably somewhere between – he thought he’d let Jackson play through it and prove he could handle Kobe and then just said “to heck with it” when Jackson went off instead. The situation doesn’t reflect well on either Jackson or Nelson and Nelson’s desire to forgive and move past it is a very good sign.
I think Nellie is a pretty good coach for Jack… perhaps the best in the league for him. But that’s not saying much. Jack has problems. Hopefully, Nellie can help settle Jack down. I wouldn’t mind seeing Jack play well this year.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.

We’d love to see Jax playin great this year cause that would mean the Warriors are winning
