Let's Trade Stephen Jackson
I exhausted myself talking to people about how Stephen Jackson could possibly be moved .. the only realistic deals that I could come up with are listed in this article.
They are ..
1) Jack and George for Yi, Sean Williams, and Hassell
2) Jack for Varejao OR Jack and Law for Ilgauskas
3) Jack and Law for Jared Jeffries, Toney Douglas, and Chris Hunter
4) Jack for Landry and Cook
I justify each deal and conclude with this: this whole situation sucks and the Warriors should just end this garbage and move on. Get out of his deal and rebuild.

My Target would be
Gerald Wallace
Maggette is going to be injured 1/2 the year if he’s playing the 4

Charlotte’s target with Gerald Wallace would not be Jackson.
Thing A

Agreed, though their target could conceivably be an expiring contract (Josh Howard, e.g.) if we could find one in exchange for Jackson.
Then again, if a team wanted to deal an expiring contract for a vet SF, why would they just deal with Charlotte directly and get a young, productive Wallace rather than a less young, less productive Jackson?
Most likely, Charlotte realizes that Wallace is their best player (not saying much but still) and will keep him.

Charlotte is in cost-cutting mode
They’re up for sale, so getting rid of their long-term committments is definitely something that they should consider doing. Jackson for Wallace seems like a lateral move .. you might as well get a big so that the depth chart looks healthy again.
WHAT AM I SAYING?! NELLIE WITH A BALANCED ROSTER?!?!?

Jackson for Wallace seems like a lateral move …
From our perspective, I think it would be a pretty huge step forward. Wallace rebounds and defends well enough from the small forward position that we could occasionally contemplate a backcourt of Monta and Curry without getting absolutely murdered on the glass.
Rebounds per 36 minutes, last season / career
Wallace 7.5 / 7.0
Jackson 4.7 / 4.2
Moreover, Wallace is a much more efficient scorer than Jack: .585 to .530 TS% last season. Not surprisingly, Berri and Wins Produced love Wallace: his 15.7 WP last season (or .283 WP48) earned him the honor of Best Small Forward in the NBA Not Named LeBron. Jackson, despite OK-looking counting numbers, wasn’t close — WP48 of .106.
If it’s true that the Cats would like to rid themselves of Wallace, and we can either —
(a) work a three way deal for Wallace (Jackson for Expiring Contract X for him); or
(b) dump Jackson for an expiring contract while dumping our expiring contracts (Claxton, Law, George) for Wallace
— I think we’d be crazy not to.
p.s. Hi Pree. ;-)

Behold,two deals for Wallace
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ykmyyay – How many expiring deals do they want? Cause this would be enough…

I think . .
1) I think part of why Wallace has such good numbers as a rebounder is because he hasn’t really played for a team with many other good rebounders. Other than Okafor, the Cats never have had a guy really willing to get in there and board. Primoz Brezec was at one point the team’s starting center .. and we all know he’s pretty soft. On a squad where Wallace would be playing the 3 beside AR and AB, I don’t think he’d have as many opportunities to rebound.
2) I know Nellie and Nellie would be foolish enough to misuse Wallace and play him at the power forward spot in the same fashion he did with Stephen Jackson. Wallace’s worst year health-wise was when he played the 4 consistently (before they got Diaw) and he was always getting hurt and laid the **** out. His resiliency was tested.
I know that #2 is a weak argument, but I feel like Gerald Wallace is kinda overrated and injury prone. I don’t know if I see it as a boon for teh Warriors to pick him up.
(and I don’t really think that the Bobcats will trade him, either)

Good idea, Skep.
And we’ll let you pick up the $200M difference between Jack/Curry and that profligate bunch of hired mercenaries.
You gotta love a league that allows its richest team to pay its players five times what its poorest team pays. It’s grotesque.

1 & 4 seems nice
Although, I don’t think NJ would give up Yi.. I do like both he and Sean Williams though. Having those two would more than likely = no Maggs are the 4.
Landry is very explosive, but I think the Rockets are pretty high on that kid. But then again, the Rockets probably need a player like Jack, since T-Mac’s always injured.
I’d be happy with those two. Jack & Acie for Ilgauskas seems okayy too.

Pree, are those Cavs deals possible? From everything I’ve read, they aren’t gonna risk trading big for small because of the questionable reliability of Shaq. Varejao’s contract is possibly more ridiculous than Jack’s (and I’m sure they only gave it to him to appease his buddy LeBron), but if he’s gone, and Shaq and Ilgauskas are both gone next year, they’ll have absolutely no players on their front line.
I think the more realistic deal with Cleveland is this: Jack + Turiaf for Ilgauskas. This allows Cleveland to maintain their front line depth at a cheap price, Jack immediately takes weight off LeBron’s shoulders on both ends of the court, and the Warriors… well, they get worse, which is gonna happen in any Jack deal, but at least they get a Nellie-type center for a year.
I’m afraid that any Cleveland deal will have to involve Boobie Gibson, who would be more than worthless for the Dubs.

I addressed it there
And I’ll do so here more freely :)
If Cleveland wants Stephen Jackson, they cannot expect to get him without giving up one of their bigs. At this point, you ask yourself which big you want to give up – Varejao, Ilgauskas, Hickson, or Shaq. You can’t give up Shaq or Hickson, so it comes down to Varejao and Ilgauskas. If I’m Cleveland, I’d take a Mikki Moore + Stephen Jackson for Ilgauskas trade any day of the week. Mikki isn’t a great player, but he’s big and can play spot minutes if Shaq is all messed up.
I’d be weary of a trade with Cleveland, though. I don’t see them as a “risk taking” front office now that there are so many pieces in place. Picking up Jack would be hella risky and I think they’d want to see how the season goes before anything happens.
(watch .. Ilgauskas is going to get hurt and kill the chance of the Warriors unloading Jack for Big Z ..)

Throw in a 2nd rounder and call it a day.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjxelp8 – If they needed they could trade Rip but that’s there problem, crazier things have happened. 1 and 4 are the best out of those you said.

Prince to the Warriors
to good to be true, but he is the heart of the Palace. So I don’t think Detroit would let him go that easy, specially Piston fans hate Jackson.

We were on the verge last year to make a trade like this for him so they are willing to do it.
We just have to revisit it and see if it isn’t still possible.

Last year the Pistons were cutting salary
Last year the Pistons were cutting salary so they could rebuild (see Iverson, Allen for Billups, Chauncey.) That’s done. IT was over the moment Jackson signed his extension. Also, Detroit signed Gordon and Villenueva. You’d have to give them expiring contracts to make it worth their while (something like this.) It might happen if they realize the team they have right now isn’t working out and they need cap space for 1 more big name (and we give them an incentive, like a pick) but I think it is unlikely.

DING DING DING
Exactly – talks with Detroit will not be brought up now that they have Ben Gordon. They’re still trying to figure out how to rotate Rip, Stuckey, Gordon, and Bynum .. bringing in Jackson doesn’t help (even if it is for Prince, who is tandeming with Daye).

A Wally World sign&trade hasn't been discussed much.
Wally just turned down $1.4M from Denver. How about doing like Dallas did in the Kidd trade using Van Horn? Delonte($4.25M)+Wally(S&T at $1.9M) with only the 1st year guaranteed, that gets us within 125% of SJacks salary($7.65M).

Warriors fans, especially those at the highly entertaining blog Golden State of Mind, have always had a "thing" for Yi Jianlian.?
The only “thing” we’ve had is the luck that Yi went elsewhere.
Why again did we need another Jax for throw the dart trade? How many players are there in the NBA that could be made to work salary wise anyway?? We might be able to stretch the possibilities out all season??

Don't deny it. There definitely was a "thing" going on here.
Although I don’t remember any specific piece of example tying Yi to the Warriors pre-draft. At least not anything concrete. By that time of course, I think GSOM figured Yi would be out of our range (which was true). I remember during the draft we were rumored to try and acquire Yi through trade, but I think that was misinformation.

I like Gerald Wallace but do you really want to trade a number #1 pick for him? I’m not confident acquiring him gets us out of the top 10 in the draft even if he does stay healthy (unlikely). Plus I’m not sure how easy it would be for us to trade a pick since we still owe one to NJ. jae mentioned that he thought the Warriors and Nets had come to some agreement that could make it a little bit easier, but I haven’t been able to find any specifics.

You're correct
The Warriors sent two future second-round picks to the Nets so that they could delay the first-rounder that they wasted when they traded for Marcus Williams. The Nets got the Warriors’ 2011 pick in that Williams trade, but now that pick could be delayed up to 2012, I believe.

it won’t work. we are pretty high on toney douglas, and our coach loves jared jeffries. i don’t know why. jared jeffries is the most innefective basketball player in the nba. but anyway, i just can’t imagine we would take on a long running contract.
you might want to figure out a way to send jackson to memphis. but just wait a couple months for that team to implode.
