Warriors Could be 09-10 Champions
I've worked out a three team trade and a seperate trade that I believe would make the Warriors a championship contender this year and ensure financial flexibility for the future.
Given are current situation with Stephen Jackson I would make him the number one priority. Jackson has said that he desires to go to Cleveland and chase a championship with the King and Cleveland has been rumored to be interested in Jackson. The obvious trade is Jackson and Claxton for Ilgauskas' expiring contract. Yes this would help the Warriors get out of a bad contract but they would also be losing an integral part to the team and Ilgauskas cannot come close to filling that void. The Warriors will be set up for another guaranteed losing season.
Instead it would make more sense to include a third team in order to bring back some sort of talent that can contribute this year. An interesting third-team trade partner would be Memphis.
Warriors trade Stephen Jackson and Speedy Claxton to Cleveland.
Cleveland trades Ilgauskas to Memphis. Warriors trade Devean George to Memphis.
Memphis trades Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, and Marko Jaric to the Warriors.
This trade could be beneficial to all parties. The Cavs get Jackson who could be the final piece to the puzzle along with Claxton's $5.2m expiring contract. All they have to give up is Ilgauskas and take on the risk the Jackson carries with him.
The Grizzlies have been rumored to have been shopping Gay who is in the final year of his contract and may be asking for an extension that is too rich for management. Gasol is a decent center but the Grizzlies just drafted Thabeet to be the center of the future and Ilguaskas would give them a one year stop gap and would get Thabeet minutes without bothering anyone. To make this deal go through Memphis would probably insist on the Warriors taking Jaric and his $14m over two years. Compared to Jackson's contract, Jaric's will be easy for the Warriors to swallow. Memphis gives up Gay who they weren't going to be able to sign, give up a decent center that was going to be a backup in a year, are able to get rid of Jaric's contract, get George as a fill in at small forward for a year, and end up with $13.1m in expiring contracts. Memphis could make out pretty good in this deal.
The Warriors manage to get rid of Jackson and his bad contract and even worse attitude and actually bring some quality albeit temporary talent back in return. Gay is a bonified scorer and Gasol adds depth as a big man. The Warriors have to take Jaric's contract but it will be a valuable trade piece next year and it gives the Warriors fan's a chance of seeing Supermodel Adriana Lima in the stands this year. Most of all this trade could open up an opportunity to add one more piece that could make the Warriors a championship contender.
Warriors trade Maggette, Turiaf, Law and 2010 1st-rd pick to Toronto.
Toronto trades Bosh to the Warriors.
Toronto finally comes to the realization that Bosh is going to end up in Miami or with Lebron next year and the Warriors finally put together a package decent enough for them to pull the trigger. Maggette instantly adds scoring and toughness driving to the basket that Toronto has always lacked. Yes his contract is hefty but on that team he could play shooting guard with Calderon at the point and Turkoglu at the three. Turiaf is an above average back up and could be a solid starting center and at a good price he could help soften the blow of losing Bosh. Law would add depth at the point and the 1st-rd pick could seal the deal.
The Warriors have been coveting Bosh and they finally get him albeit just like Gay he is only here for a year. But for this one year the Warriors line up could be deadly:
Ellis Curry Watson Jaric
Gay Morrow Jaric
Randolph Azubuike Jaric
Bosh Moore Pruitt (Wright)
Biedrins Gasol
This could be a championship team.
The next step would be to sign Bosh and Gay and see how many championships this team could win.
An alternate and still plausible trade could be:
Warriors trade Jackson and Biedrins to Memphis
Grizzlies trade Gay, Gasol, and Jaric to the Warriors
Ellis Curry Watson Law Claxton
Gay Morrow Jaric
Azubuike Maggette George
Randolph Moore (Wright)
Gasol Turiaf
Still pretty good.

I dont know about championships
But this is actually a solid team, and i could see all teams involved actually doing this. Problem is that all these pieces have to happen in order for this to help us. But i would pull the trigger. Problem is i really want to do a jackson trade that sends him to the clippers, or better yet the kings. I want Jackson to either suck it up, and earn a championship here, or rot at the bottom of the NBA until people are saying Stephen who?
But back on topic, yeah lets do it.
yeah
Not a “championship” team, but definetly a playoff team.
If I don't like it, I don't like it, that don't mean that I'm hatin.

My guess is the same number of championships Bosh and Gay have now

I'm not mad at this one.
We’d get more than most think for Jackson.

causes some SERIOUS matchup problems

AR can’t guard SFs and the backcourt can’t guard anybody… matchup problems be serious
An empty barrel makes the most noise.
Haha
You know it’s a lame trade proposal when
1. It involves multiple lopsided trades that the other teams would never in a million years agree to.
2. The resulting Warriors team still kinda sucks.

Tim: Sleepy is waiting on his pitch. He knows it’s coming.
Joe: FixBayAreaProSports shaking off the catcher. Again. Here’s the pitch… a swing and a… Wow, just wow. That was the farthest I’ve seen a trade proposal knocked into mockeryville since… forever.

I know he was hurt but the Laker game should cool the jets of anyone who thinks AR will be ready to play small anytime this year.
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
This’ll never happen. Clevelands says they’ll only trade Ilgauskas for Jackson and Turiaf together.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.
No WAY
The Warriors trade Turiaf + Jackson for less than an all-star. Turiaf would have more impact on the Cav’s than Whack Jack
Really?
If Turiaf wasnt such a great guy and I truly believe that he helps the youngsters with his attitude, I would trade those 2 for an expriring contract.

what's that smell?
smells like …..WEED!
Rap’s won’t give up Bosh for less than a near all-star (read: ellis or biedrins) no matter what the rest of the package is
the other is more plausible, but i can’t help but think in the year the Cav’s expect to win it all they would trade Ilgauskas, who’s been with the team for over a decade. biz is biz but that would be pretty cruel.
I think it’s more likely the w’s get someone like Gerald Wallace or maybe even David Lee
No kidding!
Unless Bosh pulls a Jackson, and throws a tantrum in Toronto until he is traded, no way would Toronto accept that package for Bosh. Any package for Bosh from us would have to start with Biedrins.
I do, however, like the trade with Memphis. As long as Cleveland is willing, I can see Memphis taking the expiring contracts.
You do realize that even if Memphis doesnt
want to resign Rudy Gay, they could sign and trade (because they have bird rights and he would be a restricted free agent) without taking back any salary because they are under the cap. Memphis didnt want to part with Gay last season for a trade for Amare. Why would they trade Gay for Illgauskas, a guy that would probably retire than suit up in Memphis.

You forgot to add in your title "On 2K10."
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
I told Randolph that Bill Russell would tell him to keep that ball in play and start the break.
RANDOLPH: "I know. But sometimes, you gotta let ‘em know."
(MT)
Gay AND Gasol for Jackson?
LOL
Welcome to the Warriors, Stephen Curry, the 2009 NBA Rookie of the Year.
Panda's and Curry in the Bey Area. Who would've known?
Conductor of the "We're Back!" Bandwagon!
why would memphis trade
Rudy and Marc for Illgauskus and Devean George. Illgauskus wants to retire after the season and will want to do it even more if he went to memphis.
Gerald Wallace dooooeeee!!!
Let’s snag Wallace and take on Diop’s 3 year contact. In return, we offer Curry who will replace the injured Bell and throw in Maggette and the expiring contracts of Claxton and Law. Defense wins Championships doooooeeeee!!!
PG Ellis – Watson
SG Jackson – Morrow
SF Wallace – Azubuike
PF Randolph – Wright
C Biedrins – Turiaf – Diop
no thanks

Do memphis trade, Raptor's won't do it they want to make playoffs, now or never and they want to show Bosh that they can do well and be contenders
Why not, this is a stupid move for the Grizzlies trading their best player, and their only good forward in Gasol. Never trade Gasol. They are not to bright so lets take advantage
Mike Conely Mike Taylor Marcus Williams
Oj Mayo AI
Sam Young Devean George Trey Glide
Zach Randolph Darrell Arthur
Zydrunus Illgalskus No way Hasheem starts too unskilled offensively Hameed Hamaddi Steven Hunter
No one on this team passes this a horrible team with no style of play, but they might do it
Stranger things have happened
I'm in eighth grade give me a break
Lets hope our Cowan doesn't screwup and makes the trade he would probobly trade Biedrins for Randolph knowing his stupidity
If this trade worked I think we would be a contender I wouldn’t trade for Bosh though
Ellis Curry watson
Morrow Bukie Jarik
Gay Maggette Bukie
Randolph Gasol Maggette
Biedrins Turiaf Moore
This team could be a playoff team without trading our futture for one guy. He is good but we are better without him, more depth brighter future.
This would be a team Nelly would drool over
a lot of guys for him toplay with
A player like Gasol would be Nelly’s dream , this would be the most depth the warriors have had in 3 years
The most athletic too a lot of potential young and skilled
every guy on the team is capable of helping the team no bench warmers.
I'm in eighth grade give me a break
Not a contender but we would be in the playoffs for sure
The only thing I question is why Cleveland would trade for Jackson they need the money from Illlgalskus’s expiring contract to resign Lebron and give him another piece.
I'm in eighth grade give me a break
Whoa!
To come up with a trade scenario, you must be gettin some good stuff! Serious though, this is one of the craziest trade scenarios I’ve ever seen. Ilgauskus and George for Gasol, Gay, and Jaric? Really? I really have to wonder where peoples heads are at sometimes. All of the proposed trades are completely lopsided, and like previously stated, still don’t make us a “Championship Caliber” team. I don’t think even Kobe or Lebron could push us to that level.
by Pearlsofwisdom on Oct 22, 2009 11:03 AM PDT reply actions
You Forget...
We are dealing with Memphis, none of their player transactions make any sense. If it is true that they don’t see themselves being able to resign Gay, they would defenitley take on expiring contracts and draft picks.
I recall people being skeptical that Memphis would take back so little for Pau Gasol, yet they did. So why not try and be the team to take advantage of them and improve our lineup.
Aww, what fun is that?

Well, theoretically….
That team would have a non-zero shot at winning it all. Say on the order of 1 in 500.
Of course the chance of either of the proposed fantasy trades happening in the real world is a lot closer to 0. Say 1 in 10,000 for the Bosh fantasy trade and 1 in 100,000 for the Gay fantasy trade (since it involves three teams, two of whom would be getting hosed).
500 × 10,000 × 100,000 … roughly a one in 500 billion shot of that Warriors team occurring and winning it all. Never say never!
There will be no extra point!

Is that higher or lower than the chance of a Rowell/Cohan run team winning a championship?
