Perimeter Offense will be key tonight: Morrow, Curry, Jax, Maggette

Because of Houston's style of defense, I'm not entirely sure we'll have an easy time getting to the basket tonight without getting fouled or having our shots altered. Yao Ming is out obviously, Tracy McGrady as well, AND Houston is coming off a BACK TO BACK (they lost to Portland yesterday).

So we have a good chance to win... if we can get our Perimeter Offense going.

Ron Artest is gone, but they still have Shane Battier and Trevor Ariza to guard the wings. They're very good at doing that, so this game COULD be decided by the shooting touches of Morrow, Curry, Jax and Maggette than anything else. I expect a lot of double-teams on Ellis, forcing him to swing the ball out more.

And you can be sure I'll be shouting from my Section 208 Row DS tonight too. For games like this every season where its an offensive vs a defensive team, the crowd noise could be all the difference in the world.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Take it to the rack

As much as I like watching Jackson launch triples in transition, or Morrow standing in one spot waiting for the ball, I’d much rather see the “Maggette to the Foul Line,” or the “I Wanna Go Fast” shows take control. I want to see them get aggressive and drive the lane. Try and penetrate that defense, and work the officials to get those whistles blowin’. The sooner the G’s can get the Rockets into foul trouble (preferably Hayes, Scola, Landry, and Ariza) the greater the chances they can open up their offense.

The key tonight will be

limiting turnovers and moving the ball well. With the exception of our beloved rookie pg and our backup center, we dont have a guy that sees the court well and make that extra pass. If the Warriors are serious about moving the ball and defense we have a good chance tonight and the rest of the season. Hopefully Monta or Morrow can seriously heat up tonight and lead the way in the points department and the rest of the guys do their job and carry us to victory.

The GSW’s backup center is going to be their starting PF for the opener.

The Rockets are pretty bad. Unless they are somehow red hot from the perimeter (iow, 3), I’d be shocked to see the Warriors lose especially seeing as it’s a home game.

Rockets will likely go small with Lowry & Brooks like they did last night as that was how they came back from 20+ to make the game appear close). It’s not like Ariza or Battier has a post game to take advantage of their size over Monta.

Warriors will win easy if

-they get Points of turnover
-have less than 12 turnovers entire game
-shoot the ball mid 40’s as a team
