"Both LeBron and Shaq . . . like the idea of acquiring Jackson."
Also in the post by ESPN's Marc Stein:
- Nellie's "surprise[d]" about an imminent trade.
- Cleveland doesn't want to trade Ilgauskas, unless the Warriors release Zydrunas or Turiaf is included (speculation).
- Another team could be involved in the trade, but not San Antonio or the Clippers. Dallas has told the Warriors that they have no interest. Denver's trade exception is too small for Jackson's contract, and expires soon.
- New Orleans could be a dark horse, and Charlotte is a possible destination as well.

Hot dang… maybe something really will happen soon. Nellie denying it makes it seem the all more likely. I AM INTO THIS.
One thing I gotta say:
If the Warriors were willing to package Ronny Turiaf along with Jackson or planning to waive Ilgauskas after they got him – potentially setting up Big Z to rejoin the Cavs after a 30-day wait as seen last season with Antonio McDyess – Cleveland’s perspective would presumably change. Every signal I’m getting, though, suggests that Golden State would be amenable to neither of those scenarios.
Warriors. WARRIORS. Guys.
Just trade for Big Z and waive him. So the Cavs get a free player… so what? That player is an overpaid, overrated headache. So we lose a starter with no talent in return… so what? We don’t add any future salary, and we open up minutes for players who are better than that starter.
If we can get an expiring guy we can keep, a Camby type (though I’m not surprised that Camby himself doesn’t seem like an option), then great. It’d be nice to have another big while Wright’s out. But if we can’t get that anywhere, let’s grab Z, buy him out and move forward. Much better to do that than have someone like Peja stinking up the joint and the books for two years. This season shouldn’t be regarded as mission critical… I’d rather keep our future free and clear than add a “win now” piece that clouds that future.
Jack for Z. MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.

Agreed, I think last night’s game proved that although Jackson gets his numbers hes more of a detriment to our team than a benefit when hes on the floor, he had a +/- of -2 (ok, so not THAT bad, but he also), shot 7-16, I saw him (still) complain about calls instead of hustling back on D, and generally has not dismissed his usual ball hogging ways, I’m even down with waiving big Z after trading for him only to free up some cap space

agreed
but can we sweeten the deal a little? Jackson and Speedy for Big Z and Hickson and agree to waive Big Z. We keep Hickson.
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

DO IT!!
I really like this idea!!! Hickson can serve as insurance in case Brandan Wright gets injured again or takes longer than expected to return from his current injury!

and they can use speedy as back up PG/SG since Delonte West is crazy…..

+1
WHO CARES IF THEY WANT Z BACK! Give him back, if it means we can get rid of Jackson and his salary while at the same time freeing up minutes for swing men who actually deserve the minutes.
This is a no brainer. I can’t believe they are “not amenable” to that…ridiculous!

We would want at least SOMETHING back for a 20-5-5 guy, no matter how much of a detriment to the team he is. I saw another post that said if we trade for the sake of getting rid of him, it makes the team look weak and show players that if they make a little noise, they’ll get their demands met, and our front office looks weak enough as it is…

Don't package Turiaf
Especially if we won’t keep Z. That would be stupid. Get a 3rd team involved to send them a big if they don’t want to lose size.

Nellie: "You're a rookie"

losing z might be the best possible situation for the cavs. i can’t figure out why they’d want him back so badly. if the cavs trotted out a starting 5 of mo williams, jack, parker/moon, lebron and shaq, isn’t that team WAY better than mo, parker, lebron, varejao, shaq? go small, cleveland! lebron can guard the power forwards of the league! he’s got the size and strength, and something tells me that it’ll be much much harder for the opposing 4 to match up with lebron’s quickness than it will be for lebron to match up with his man’s strength. make the right call on this one, cleveland. don’t be stupid.

Actually, I hope they’re really stupid, stupid enough to trade lebron to the warriors! Lebron to the bay, make it happen, cleveland!

Giving up Turiaf and Jackson is beyond stupid. Like we aren’t short enough on big men, much less quality big men. Turiaf is underpaid and underrated on so many levels.
Welcome to the Pit of Despair! Don't even think about trying to escape.

I like Turiaf, but he’s not a threat at all offensivey and he doesn’t rebound well. Thats two pretty big strikes against a big guy. His contract isn’t bad, but I don’t think he’s all that underpaid or underrated either. I’d prefere to trade for Z and cut him, but if thats not possible I’d be willing to at least talk trade with Turiaf involved.
