Bob Fitzgerald - Fox News Correspondent

I called the Fitz and Brooks show today. The first time I called, I told them that I wanted to talk about the Warriors. The guy then told me to email the show instead. I called about 30 minutes later and gave them a different name, and said I just wanted to talk about Stephen Jackson's play. The guy who I was talking to then asked, "You're gonna talk about Stephen Jackson's game right?"

When I got through, I asked Bob about why the Warriors gave Jackson the extension despite the turnovers, the lack of ball movement, and the horrible percentage. Fitz then gave an answer like a typical Warriors PR guy.

I then asked him what was the sole reason the Warriors have been a bad franchise the last decade plus, and his answer was that the team has had a winning record the last couple of seasons, and that they have young up and coming players.

Bob Fitzgerald is a Fox News employee. His master ,,,,,,,um, I mean his owner, is Chris Cohan. Why do you think the Warriors let Bob Fitzgerald steal Greg Papa's job as the announcer. Listening to the show is like listening to Fox News. In the words of Mike Singletary, "Cannot play with them. Cannot win with them. Cannot coach with them. Can't do it. I want winners. I want people that want to win."

Boycott buying tickets people!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Thanks for taking the time to call the show. The screening process is ridiculous and is so transparent that they protect Fitz and the Warriors in every conceivable way.

Come on, can never have enough Fitz bashing

He was actually insinuating AR was more responsible for the loss than Maggs….

he basically said that fact that Scola dominated Randolph at the start of the third quarter lost them the game

How can Scola dominate Rudolf? This is a team sport, he dominated the whole team. It’s up to the coaches to figure this stuff out as it’s happening, not blame it on one player later.

Rudolf got dominated, so the team got dominated. Rudolf, that game, was a weak link defensively. Was it his fault entirely? Well, he does need to pack on some muscle and learn better technique on defense, doesn’t he? Give him another year to not get dominated by Scola.

KNBR

Do they protect the 49ers and Giants the way they do the Warriors?

by Rated-R Superstar on Oct 29, 2009 3:35 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

No,

its just Fitz really. All the other guys will speak their minds about the other teams. It does seem that they tread a little easy around the giants if they are stuggling but Fitz refusing to say anything negative about the Warriors is really disgusting.

I know Damon Bruce certainly doesnt.

I'm gametime_gsw, and I approve this message.

by gametime_gsw on Oct 31, 2009 2:19 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

That

is why the Kuip said F#$k Damon Bruce one day on tv when he thought he was not on. But Damon literally says what should be said and is not afraid.

So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

bob fitzgerald is a major doucher. I hate when he changes his voice when the warriors are giving up a lead. He then says that the other team is unstoppable.

Do any of you guys believe that he has ever played basketball a day in his life?

He was most likely the kid that the popular kids picked on during recess

"If you can make 10 things happen during the 10 minutes you play tonight, we will quadruple your salary and you will start for the rest of the season" ... and then he does just that, but the coach reneges on the promise so Anthony has a near-crying meltdown on the bench. That's every Anthony Randolph game.

Matt Steinmentz works for the Warriors too,

ever hear him on the Razor and Mr. T, or read his stuff at fanhouse?

Yes I have

and I don’t think Matt Steinmetz works for the Warriors right now. I think he works for CSNBayarea. On the other hand, when Matt used to do sideline reporting for FSNBayarea, I can’t remember whether or not he was critical of the Warriors back then.

In any case, whomever Bob Fitzgerald actually works for, we all know he’s supportive of the Warriors. Why is this surprising anyone today?

About Fitz

Yes he’s paid by the Warriors so he won’t public ally bash them. However if you listen between the lines he’s realistic. He constantly bangs away at fact they have talent, but they are missing specific characteristics: A post player, good ball movement, defense.

He doesn’t think they’ll be a playoff team but could be exciting 35-40 win team, and who knows what will happen with a trade….I don’t think there is anything wrong with not having a constant doom and gloom voice.

One thing that does annoy me is his Morrow love. He seems to be convinced Morrow is the next Reggie Miller/Ray Allen. Personally if he became the next Dell Curry I’d be happy

No reporter should be paid by the organization he’s reporting on. Why don’t they get someone with no ties to the Warriors to report on them?

I agree with the criticism, but...

There is so much negative talk on the radio and monday morning quarterbacking that it can be refreshing for Fitz to be pro warriors instead of constantly bashing them.
We really dont need every broadcaster on KNBR to bash the Warriors 24×7.
He just needs to tone down the butt kissing

by warriorsvictim on Oct 29, 2009 4:22 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

butt kissing isnt the problem. thats to be expected, but he really knows nothing about the game of basketball. I actually respect barnett.

is broadcaster same as reporter?

I don’t think I ever thought of BobF as a reporter. He broadcasts and announces for the Warriors, and thus is the on air cheerleader. On TNT and ESPN, the announcers will be more neutral, but have you ever watched a Suns or Bulls or Heat game on their local TV? They say the craziest stuff to defend their team, and bash the referees when it doesn’t go their way.

I like Jim Barnett, and I think Bob is doing fine too. We’re probably just a bit sick of hearing them try and excite us and keep our interest in a team that keeps putting them in a losing position.

by dukeya on Oct 29, 2009 11:13 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

has anyone here even watched NBA TV?

Listen to any of the local announcers on NBA tv, people, and then see if Fitz is really that bad. Not my favorite radio host, but I don’t mind him at all teamed up with Barnett for play-by-play. Almost every other teams have people way more over the top. Last year, the color guy for cleveland, yelled “BRINGS THE HAMMER DOWN” ever time anybody on the cavaliers dunked. It got tiresome very fast.

I already did. Why are you chiming in like 15 hours later, when I have said nothing since then. I feel I have a right to respond to a bash on Fox News included in a headline of an entire post with the above relatively benign response. How about you quit telling me to quit, when I was perfectly within reason with that response and have said nothing since? What was unreasonable was the political jab at Fox News included in a freaking basketball post. Someone can use an entire fanpost as a political statement, and I’m not allowed to respond? Please.

Haha

I was just joking around. In case you haven’t noticed every time you bring up politics here it takes up about three days of your life that you’ll never get back. ; )

If you were honestly offended by the original post go ahead and flag it, and state your objection in the comments section. You were trolling (just like illmatic to be fair) and despite the fact that I am mildly amused by your political rants and thread-busting debates I think now that the season has started we should probably stick to basketball.

The mods aren’t going to do a thing. I promise. I’m not going to waste my time flagging ignorant political jabs. I’d rather just jab back. I was not trolling, by the way. It’s an absolute fact that MSNBC is far left. They recently turned the ACORN story into an anti-Glenn Beck rant.

He is supposed to be play by play but is an opionated color commentator

That’s always been his downfall. And you’re right, there is a direct correlation between him and this ownership era in the way that they try to ignore what the fans really want to say and he defends management and not the players and fans as much as a REAL commentator would. Just the opposite of a homer, really.

AND DOES ANYONE ELSE EVER GET SICK OF HIM MAKING EXCUSES FOR WHY WE LOST GILBERT ARENAS?!?!?!? HE’S THE ONE THAT ALWAYS MANAGES TO DROWN OUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!!! GILBERT WALKED AWAY BECAUSE COHAN WOULDN’T SIMPLY SHAKE HIS HAND AND MAKE A VERBAL COMMITMENT!!!!! IT WASN’T JUST BECAUSE OF THAT DAMN RULE!!! UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH those memories bother me.

Judge: "In the case of 3 month old Tracie Taylor, we find that Dirk Nowitzki .... IS the father!"

Dirk [in Hassellhoff accent]: "That baby don't look like me!"

Him having a radio show and working for the warriors is a huge miscue

KNBR is literally a joke from the hours of Noon to three, at least when talking Warriors.

by 123707THIZZ on Oct 30, 2009 12:17 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I just can't stand when he

explodes over meaningless plays like some unconscious jitter bug nancy with his hands folded under his chin, foaming at the mouth like some AND 1 suburban fanboy. His monthly jokes about being amphibious or ambidextrous between his sickening rants about things that absolutely have nothing to do with the importance of the game tire me. I’m sure they tire Jim too. When does he say anything about the game that you don’t already know? Have you ever learned anything from Bob? Has he ever said anything prophetic or astounding that proved his worth as a personality of the game? “Bob is the play-by-play guy. Jim is the color guy. Bob tries to be both.”

Listening to him on KNBR is worse, while he orally services every single Warrior guest on his show with unrelenting praise…and his questions! ALL THE TIME with the multitude of stupid questions! Never any kind of substance, any kind of provoking professionalism. To Morrow: “How does a human being make 91 out of 116?” Well how the hell is Anthony Morrow supposed to answer that? Ya, I know, “Because I’m good.” Obvious enough.

Clearly, his agenda proceeds towards kissing every notable crevice within the organization with so much plastic enthusiasm, that the average so called Warriors fan goes, “WOW! This guy really loves his team duddn’t he, eh!?” He knows that’s his ONLY shot, and I really can’t stress the word “only” enough, of not losing his job to one of the hundred guys who know the game 100x better, and is not afraid of the contact of a good argument with any greater competition than Rod. See, it was Bob. It was Bob who coined the slogan, “IT’S A GREAT TIME OUT!” while the Warriors won 20 games a year.

He has no relationship with the players, even though he pretends. I hope I’m unveiling that to anyone who didn’t know any better. Any time you see a player interact with the commentator team, they always choose Jim. They know Bob is a lightweight yes man, who’s legacy should be forgotten along with the past 14 years of unbearable idiocy this team has abused my unbridled love with. OFF WITH HIS HEAD. Bring in Matt Steinmentz, or my beloved Greg Poppa, who epitomized my early relationship with this team, and let he and Jim have a go of it.

I have not commented this site for quite some time. I hope this illustrates how much Bob’s exodus means to me.

Down with spiked hair plugs! Long live the Warriors!

LILboots...U SAID IT ALL!!!

You get a rec for your commment b/c dat is exactly how I feel whenever I listen to Fitz on da radio. I think all we are asking is for him to be more honest about what’s going on instead of turning a blind eye. Great comment and for all those who say dis is beating a dead horse or I want someone positive not all the doom and gloom…I say log off your terminal at warriors headquarters b/c this is how a lot of real dubs fans feel.

I just want to be able to have a dialogue about the team that doesn’t involve me only heaping praise on the team when they don’t deserve it. I just want to ask real questions about the team, about the FO, about where we are going, etc… Is that too much to ask? I mean even Razor has fallen victim to liking da team too much to ask the tough questions.

I know fitz works for the dubs and I know he is always gonna be positive but the way he goes about it, is by drowning out actual dialogue and valid arguments by either saying you don’t know what your talking about or hanging up on you. If that is what you want in someone who represents the Warriors, then you aren’t a REAL warriors fan.

Keep it up lilboots!!
