CBS Berger Report: "Nelson will quit by next week!"
Hello Everyone!I cant believe no one posted this yet! Its the biggest news until now this season.!
CBS Sports Writer Ken Berger is reporting that there´s a good chance that Don Nelson will resign the coaching job "by next week" and would assume a consultant role, with top assistant Keith Smart taking over as head coach.
I totally agree with that! I already wanted to make a post about why Nelson should be fired. The problem cant be Anthony Randolph, Jamal Crawford, Al Harrington, Mickel Pietrus, Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, Chris Mullin, Monta Ellis and today Stephen Curry... He destroyed the We Believe team, he is fighting with all our top players and all of them want out because of his attitude... It was about time to resign. He is too old for the job.
What will happen now? Ellis and Jackson will stay? The team will completly implode??
Its an absolute must read for every Warriors fan: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/12514475/nelsons-abrasive-style-might-have-him-on-way-out
Its also being reported on RotoWorld: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/clubhouse_news.aspx?sport=NBA&line=118164&majteam=GS
I want Nelson out and Keith Smart in as the Head Coach.... Lets find out "next week"

Jackson and Ellis
Even if Don Nelson does resign and Keith Smart does take over, I don’t think it really changes anything in regards to the Stephen Jackson situation. Maybe it does for Monta Ellis to a degree, but “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Keith Smart....
> Don Nelson Mini Me…
I dont see things changing significantly in any way if Smart takes the helm. Maybe interim head coach but witha vie that we go for a whole new fresh look and start next year with new logo’s, new uniforms, new players….
ust make 2010/11 the big change….to finally break away from We Believe and start a new era with Curry, Morrow, Randolph, Wright and others…..

getting rid of nelson
opens other coaches to perhaps consider the warriors.
plus we have no idea what Smart would do without Nellie looking above his shoulders
Why would any other decent coach want to work for the Warriors? Seriously, unless it’s the only position available to them, I don’t see why anyone would take that job…

They might be able to convince a potentially good coach to come here… one that doesn’t have head coach experience. I don’t think it would kill their careers if they failed here too, since we don’t exactly have a winning atmosphere or roster. If they turned the program around, it would mean huge rewards for them. (Borrowing from TK’s list) People that won’t come here would include: Avery Johnson, Jeff Van Gundy, Byron Scott. People that might: Bill Laimbeer, Mario Elie, Sam Cassel.

best guess
While there are likely to be rumors of Nelson leaving, it’s seems more likely that he’s not leaving that coveted record on the table when he is so close. One aspect to consider – Cohan did not let the fact that Montgomery still was under contract stand in the way of replacing him with Nelson. Best guess is that Nelson gets the all time wins record, and we have a new coach next season …
he's not leaving

He said himself he doesn't care about the record, that Lenny Wilkens deserves to keep it.

The BEST, Most Consistent Player on the W's is...
Kelanne Azabuike
He has shown the ability this season to be the full time starter at the 2. I’m totally fine with the W’s trading Monta….and sitting Jack until he either wants to be a part of the team again, or we get an expiring for him.
LineUp:
Curry
Buike
Morrow
Randolph
Beans
Question: Do you think Bosh could be had for Monta/Randolph? I would pull that trigger
Don't give up on Monta
Are you watching him play? No one else can do what he does. I like Curry as much as anyone, but he is still a rookie. Work with them both.
Now Jack, unless he promises to limit his 3pt shots to four per game, he can go wait in Port Arthur for his trade.

monta is garbage. jack has issues but is still the most talented guy by far. monta can't afford to have a grain of attitude until he becomes a player.
The Warriors aren't playing like the Raiders.

And how Jack is the most talented guy while you’re at it….not that I expect any sort of reasoned argument supported by evidence from AR…

Consistent? I mean, he’s not Jax, but he’s far from “consistent.”

Hell no!

Kelanne Azabuike
Azabuike is massively inconsistent. Also, he is nowhere near the BEST player.

TK2?
Who is this guy Berger? Tim Kawakami? Sounds like a bunch of horsesh*t.
I was going to post the same article I read this morning...
It seems to me like Nellie has once again found a way to alienate his players, this time by lack of communication. It was only a matter of time before he blew up a good thing, again! This all goes back to Nellie and Baron being the yin and yang of the team….when BD left, rather when Rowell put the kybosh on his 3 year deal and Chris Mullin’s authority, is where the glue started to come off. I mean, I was really bummed when J-Rich was traded, but at least we still had Dizzle to keep everyone in check, including Jackson & Monta. He and Nelson were total opposites but it worked because they shared one very important thing in common: The desire to win and play W’s basketball like only they could. Even after the strange fallout in Phoenix in 2007 after BD’s birthday, they still had a mutual love and admiration for one another…..and Mullin is the one that brought them together in the first place.
So….BD leaves, we sign Beans which was good thank goodness!….. we sign Maggette which could still be good if he continues to turn into the best 6th man in the league…. Monta gets big payday…..loses almost one year because he makes a poor decision…..almost gets his contract voided….feels alienated by the team……………..supposedly makes up with Nellie and Rowell…..Jackson gets stupid money & years from idiot Rowell…..Mullin is lame duck for more than half the season as a scapegoat because Cohan has no f*%$#@g idea what he is doing………promises are made to Monta & Jack that are not kept…..Jackson turns into a whiny little bitch and blows up….he can’t leave town soon enough……and now Monta is not far behind………and the other good young players are starting to turn against the coach.
Hmmmm……….do you see a pattern evolving here?
My take on why Monta is really starting to act like a punk is because Crap Jack is whispering in his ear all the time and setting a bad example. Deep down I almost feel like Monta turned to the dark side a bit after he got all that $$$ from the Dubs and his amazing talent aside, if he can’t be professional after becoming set for life, then he can pack his bags as well.
I hope that isn’t really then case but if Smart takes over if and when Nellie is fired or steps down as coach, and Monta still can’t be happy, then the problem was never really all Nellie to begin with. He definitely has not helped himself by his lack of communication, or questionable moves with younger players historically, but Nellie has at least been around the game longer than any of his players, and they should at least respect that.
Wow, I never expected to go off on such a tangent, but I am a W’s fan for life and I’m so tired of all this bullshit drama and wasting of talent………it needs to stop and the franchise needs to turn it around, because “us fans deserve much better!”
I’m talking to you Cohan, Rowell, and Nellie, & Slack Jack……and you too Monta! All of you grow up and give the fans some damned respect for a change. You’re all rich and have nothing to worry about except counting your money…..we’re all sick of it and we demand a change!
Warrior fans are the best in the NBA so give us a the best team for our buck and our loyalty! Go Dubs!

Baron vs Nellie?
Baron loves Nellie - where do you get the idea they’re 100% opposites?
Personality wise, is what i was getting at.
Besides, my point in this case was they both had a great desire to win!

O RLY
“all of them [top players] want hour because of his [Nelson’s] attitude”
What about their attitudes. Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis are the poster children for bad attitudes.
Nellie gets no love.

After watching the game last night
I think a story about D’Antoni quitting or how he is the NBA’s most overrated coach would be more to the point. Piling on and regurgitating what has been written about 100 times is a waste of cyber space.

CYBERSPACE IS LIMITLESS AND CAN ONLY BE WASTED BY THESE 4 WORDS "WASTE OF CYBER SPACE"
oops im guilty of it too
Whooooa, Nellie!
If Kawakami didn’t say it, then I don’t wanna believe it. (wink, wink)
That guy, as Ralph Barbieri puts it, thinks he knows everything. But usually, the guy is right on.
I don’t think Berger was confident writing this piece. that’s why he included the word, “might”, in the title.
Is Nelson leaving sometime in the future? i think so, but not this soon. If last night was any indication, Nelson is still very much coaching to win. There’s a reason Randolph, and especially Curry, played so little. Dude wanted to win. Get it? He has an individual goal to accomplish here… ? Something about passing wilkens? or something…
Is someone putting a gun to his head and forcing him to resign? Ownership is on his dick, Berger. what are you thinking? Why would he resign next week? that’s just silly…

Kawakami is the source!
Is there any doubt the Kawakami is the source? Now Kawakami’s next blog entry will cite this article as proof that he’sbeen right all along and he’s not the only one reporting it.
It’s like someone on the Fox News opinion shows saying something, and then the “News” shows saying people are outraged. When the “outraged people” are their own employees.
It’s a great formula to show you’re right and knowledgeable – even when you’re wrong 90% of the time. Create fake news – have someone else cite you or be a source – then cite them. Brilliant! And very sad.

Although i do love the run and gun
It is getting somewhat slower and they actually arent even running and gunning. I still think the real reason for us losing is Chris Cohan and Rowell we cant just blame in on Don even though he loves to play small.
ive bin wantin avery johnson since he got fired
keith smart is not the answer!!! Look @wut avery was able2do with the mavericks team nellie built. nellie built our team<, & evn tho we hav no DIRK, he wud still give us way more wins than nellie or smart cud give us with our current roster. has anybody else bin thinkin bout avery?
a little bit
…for the reasons you mention. However, I’m not one of those people who think Nellie our problem. I think our biggest problems were: 1. FO, 2. malcontents, and 3. injuries.
Nelson played a hand in the FO moves and, to a lesser extent, the rancorous atmosphere, so he bears culpability. I don’t doubt that. I just think he’s (still) a visionary coach with massive personality quirks and a decimated roster.
All coaches rely on good players, and Nellie ball has never one a championship, but Nelson > than virtually any other coach we’ve had the past two decades. At least, he’s shown us our best results. (Adelman might be the better coach overall.)
The thing is, it’s hard to manage the personality types of many top NBA players, and Nelson’s an eccentric personality himself. Here I think Avery could be a significant upgrade. He’s got that napoleonic disposition.
As much as I hate the idea of starting from scratch with a new HC, we may as well blow this sucker up.

That article is a joke
Speculative and makes some really bizarre assumptions- like saying Nellie just sat Curry in NY to embarrass him, while not taking into account that Curry barely played the 2 games prior to that. Frankly, I think that reporting job is so bad, the author should be reprimanded.
The issue with the Warriors is they haven’t had a leader of good character lately (other than a flaky Baron), and keep trying to turn selfish immature players into leaders. It’s perplexing to me why anyone would place a; Jackson, Harrington, Crawford, Pietrus, or Ellis, up against Nellie’s brilliant career and use them as an argument to side against Nellie.
I can understand people who feel Nellie has to go, but using those guys as any part of the reason makes zero sense.
If Bochy coached the Warriors Bengie Molina would start every game at PG.
Berger is a joke
Berger is an absolute embarassment to his kind. I just point to his article about the Nuggets-Hornets massacre. Just read his last original paragraph (the one before the “update”).
And then read the first comment under this article. Have fun and don’t use him as your advocate.
