Monta Ellis Doesn’t Sound Happy
(Marcus Thompson) (Found thanks to shoothoop)
Well, here's the full Monta interview with Marcus Thompson. Now things are more in context. What do you think of our current leader?

lol He wouldn't even say if he's happy or not!
Jack trade is done. There’s really nothing anyone can do about that. Ellis is a rookie leader, I guess I understand that. But he needs to put more effort on learning how to be a leader on a team that needs it more than ever. I get the pressure part but I wish he wouldn’t let it manhandle him. Work his way around the pressure.
Will this matter a year from now?
He needs to
“Make love to pressure”

He doesn't sound like he's happy or wants to leave
He just sounds very frustrated, can’t say I blame him…
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"
...
I can see why he is frustrated, but he should also step up and be even more of a leader when the team needs it most. He definitely shouldn’t back down from the challenge, whether he likes it or not. If he doesn’t think he can take on more burden, he definitely shouldn’t be expressing that as it shows a sign of weakness in his ability to lead.
Yeah, and that's the problem
His complaining about not wanting to put more on his back sure reminds me of Jack’s “I don’t want to be a role model for anybody”. I suspect he’s turned over to the Jack side more than we think. He’s probably just as disillusioned as Jack was when we got Curry and nixed the Amare deal, especially if the story is true that Rowell promised to bring a vet around Monta and Jack. Now I think he just wants to do his own thing and not worry about anyone else, like Jack.
If he had said something like “I cannot do any more than what I’m doing now. I need help”, then I can respect that, because it means he’s giving all he can as a leader, and there’s no shame in asking for help at that point. But the way he talked about wanting someone else to fill Jack’s shoes, it sounds to me like he doesn’t want to be a leader, or he doesn’t want to lead the youth movement here.

And the more I think about it, the worse it gets
like this quote:
And we’re trying to get better as a defensive team. And now, who we got now that’s going to play defense? We got me. And who else?
While it’s true that Monta has put effort into playing defense, and it’s true that our other players aren’t exactly defensive specialists, this quote reeks of the “It ain’t me”, “It’s everyone else’s fault” attitude that we heard so often from Jack (there goes his influence again). That’s the path to alienating your teammates.
Well Monta, all eyes are now on you in the next few weeks to see how much of a spoiled brat you are.

He probably feels alone
It’s a sucky situation. Hopefully, he can get passed it and develop good chemistry with all the younger players.
This is Kristin Kreuk, now zip it. - GTTM
what happened to the monta that didn’t talk much but when he did it was positive? that didn’t get frustrated on the court but just played and had the occasional smile? oh ya.. he jumped on a moped and ruined his career

How can you ever call this guy a "leader" ???
I understand his frustration with Nelson and losing but he sounds so unprofessional in all his interviews, he doesn’t answer the questions clearly. Shows no positive attitude or support to new teamates. It seems we’re gonna have to wait for Stephen Curry to grow into a leadership role for the Warriors…
Where Monta was asked.....
“Do you feel a need to be more vocal?” I understand his point on that, somewhat.
If he’s trying to take the leadership role and the coach tells you to be quiet, then he basically feels he has no right to speak and be vocal.
Seems like he's learning some of Nellie's bad traits
Everything he says and does is correct, but the bits about his teammates really don’t sound good, and aren’t going to be looked at positively by the rest of the guys in the locker room.
You have been DFiBrillated.
