Marcus Thompson twitter: Nellie announces third lineup in three games: PG Curry, SG Ellis, SF Buike, PF Jax, C Biedrins. Randolph out as starting PF, in as back-up C

gswscribe (MT's twitter)

Hmm... Randolph as the backup C. This either means Randolph is in the doghouse, or Turiaf is out for Wed's game. Still 2 days to go, so the lineup can change by then.

It sucks that we have to find the right line-up just to find a spark

I know that’s how it’s supposed to be on mostly every team, but to me I feel like if the Warriors had great chemistry then it wouldn’t matter who we put on the floor (as long as it’s not the scrubs).

other teams have a bigger divide between starters and bench players in terms of talent. it’s not a good thing for us that our starters might be outplayed by our bench on any given night, but it’s pretty clear that we need to switch out a couple of our good players for a great player. until then, we’ll keep being mediocre with our mess of good players and desperate need for an alpha dog.

That can be AR

And Maybe Steph. AR will be a great player given playing time (aka Nellie needs to go)

giving AR playing time isn’t what’s going to make him a great player. he’ll need to put in the work outside of games and learn to play within himself. it’s not a lack of talent that is going to hold AR back; it’s a lack of discipline. giving him 40 minutes a night won’t give him that.

he has, and it showed in summer league, but he still doesn’t have the game figured out just yet, and that’s showed this year. giving him free run will not make him a better player. it’ll allow him to be a talented player who never put it all together.

Yes he still shouldn't have free run

But not to run in the exact same circle as last season, he also shouldn’t be pulled and thrown in the dog house for every mistake. Bench him for a little, send him back in, and if Nelson’s feeling really adventerous maybe even coach him a little bit verbally not to make that mistake anymore.

seems totally fair to assume that don nelson doesn’t tell players what they’ve done wrong. i haven’t been to any practices, but i’d be willing to wager he just gives them drills to run without ever doing any coaching…

on a less sarcastic note, randolph hasn’t looked great so far. he’s also recovering from an injury. a quick leash on a young guy who doesn’t seem to be at 100% and has been known to try to do too much isn’t exactly terrible strategy.

It's ironic

that Brandan Wright is the exact opposite of Anthony Randolph. Brandan Wright is quiet, disciplined, in control of himself. His problem is that he was TOO quiet to fight for rebounds, or rotate, or whatever.

If we could just fuse these two guys together into a Brandon Randolph or Anthony Wright, we’d have a terrific power forward. Oh, but with no one backing him up. Argh.

While were at it, lets combine Ellis and Curry for the most amazing pg ever.

Truthfully

Two to three players in the line up have to do the dirty work (tough D, rebound, scrappy play) in order for small ball to work. Steph Curry may even have to drive the ball more often, can he?

by Brothaplease09 on Nov 2, 2009 6:16 PM PST reply actions

Why is Jack starting?

PG – Curry
SG – ME8
SF – Buike
PF – AR
C – AB

What as AR done to be in the doghouse? Have a great summer league? A solid preseason? Work his butt off in training camp?

I cant wait till we trade AR

I am seriously 100% behind an AR trade, this is getting laughable

I'm so tired of small ball

It doesn’t work! No matter what kind of benefits we might reap due to offensive mismatches, it will be overshadowed by lack of defense and getting pummeled on the boards. Prepare for a beat down courtesy of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. (Oh, and also Hasheem Thabeet if he gets some run)

excellent idea put SJax againsst Al Jefferson!

Doesn't mean AR is in the doghouse...

Having AR as the back up C doesn’t mean he’s in the dog house. It just means Turiaf will probably be limited our out for Wednesday and that Nellie wants to have a least 2 big men available to play rotation minutes. This way you don’t have to worry about early foul trouble so much and it seems like Nellie really doesn’t like Moore.

If Biedrins and AR start and both pick up 2 fouls early (highly likely) the Dubs will be in major trouble and have to play Moore major minutes or be prepared to run with 5 midgets instead of 4 all game.

Didn’t he have any input into picking Moore up or was he passed out that week?

Jack at the four is atrocious, but maybe he and ‘Buike will switch defensive assignments. Good to see that ’Buike’s strong play has been rewarded, at least.

Rebounding-wise, Jack at the 4 is atrocious. I think our rebounding stats will be an atrocity.

I like the line up! this way the 2nd unit has AR and Morrow..

hopefully Coach won’t throw Maggs in too soon unless he’s serious about going to the rack and not shooting jumpers. Leave that to our guards…PLEASE.

playing time lineups:

Curry,Monta,Curry,CJ,Law
Monta,Morrow
Buike,Jack,Maggs
Jack,Maggs,AR,Turiaf
Beans,AR,Turiaf,Moore

This is what Nellie said

“Most backup fives aren’t going to really horse him around.” Nelson said. “And then that jump shot that we really don’t want him to shoot that much when he plays (power forward) is a pretty good shot against a (center). So I hope it’s going to open his game up a little bit as well. Last year, when he had his best games it’s when he was playing (center).”

Say what ??!!
