Nelson is absolutely right, though, it doesn’t particularly matter how they like each other. A coach is more like a parent – it’s not his job to be the players friend, it’s his job to try to get his players to act and behave in the right way. If he has to discipline a player to change their behavior, that’s much more important that being buddies with the player.
