We Still Believe
I think after last night, it's time for us fans to fully commit to encouraging this team. No more hating or negativity or skepticism. In the playoffs of 2007, we proved we are THE BEST fans in the NBA - and the Warriors, who are still one of the most emotional teams in the NBA (if not THE most emotional team) feeds off of what we give them.
It was an unfortunate start of the season. Jackson speaking out, all the injuries, the media trying to spin some silly story about a Monta Ellis - Stephen Curry drama. Lets leave the drama to Brandon Jennings' mama. Lets focus on the positive. We have some serious stone soldiers who, though they only had six standing, left it all on the court in Dallas, beating the 10-3 Mavericks and snapping their 5 win streak.
All I'm saying is we should be proud of these guys. We've seen Morrow quickly grow into a legit all around NBA starter - we're just now witnessing Monta become The Man and seriously take responsibility for the W. And we're watching Curry learn to believe in himself. And you know what? I think we're about to see Anthony Randolph's big bad coming out party. I think if we keep hustling, if we can regain and maintain health, if we can snowball the enthusiasm we've felt the last couple of games into something with serious momentum, people are gonna have a tough time stopping us.
We have a team we can believe in. They went out and played like Warriors last night for the win in Dallas. It's our turn to do our part: Lets bring back We Believe. Not so much in a sign or a t-shirt, but in a spirit. In enthusiasm. They are earning it back from us as fans, against all odds... and if we start meeting them halfway, and getting crazy, and... believing in them and encouraging them and speaking positively about them... it may have its effect.
I'm seriously excited for the Spurs tonight. Hopefully Monta gets some time off. Kind of ridiculous how unstoppable he was on the drive last night.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I'm scared
as we win more, Oracle starts packing the house more often and Chris Cohan will NEVER sell! I’d rather see a couple of throw away seasons and see Cohan sell to Larry Ellison than to forever be doomed under Cohan, Rowell, and company. But don’t get me wrong, I’m LOVING what I’ve been seeing by the dubs these past few games and hope this good energy and hustle continues!

really
you’d rather see 2 losing seasons?
cohan kept the team through 13 losing season – what’s another 2?

Point taken.
But I don’t think Cohan has been in such financial trouble through those years he’s been in recently, with all the lawsuits and trouble with the IRS. Who knows what can happen. But a man can dream, right?…

If this team wins, teams value will go up and he might sell....
Ellison isn’t poor, but right now Cohan is asking too much for team considering the economy….

Agreed
If we keep playing like this against top teams we will be in the hunt. But first we need to get healthy. Also I think this team is very similar to the We Believe team talent wise. I’m not sure if Morrow can be a full time starter or if Vlad can keep playing as well as he has but it looks good right now. But remember, that team made a trade that gave them that extra edge. They got veteran in there too mix things up in Jack. I mean look at this team. Monta is playing in the role of Baron, Beans is Beans, Vlad is Harrington/Barnes, Morrow is J Rich, but we have some extras that could make us better like Curry, Ronny and AR. That team never had a big like AR or even Ronny. But we would be missing one key guy, Jack. Maggs won’t be it. I still think him packaged with a 1st rounder could get us a solid starter to take that role. You may say but who will take Maggs? Remember who will take Dunmurphy? Or we could get nothing in return for them? Hint hint…

you need to be quiet dubzfan
you ask needless questions all day long about how we need to make these stupid trades that you fathom in your mind. The NBA isn’t NBA2k10…alright dude. And WE Believe is dead, we need to think more about a team that doesn’t get into the playoffs as a 8th seed, and expecting them to pull of the greatest upset in NBA history every time. It’s only happened once, and it’s not going to happen every time we make the playoffs as an 8th seed. I don’t care if we have pieces like the WE Believe team. I’d rather have a team that makes the playoffs as a 6th seed and goes 7 games and loses, then the next couple of years start moving up the ranks, than a dubzfan nba2k10 novelty roster that wins one or two series unexpectedly once every couple of years. Alright.

Rude much? Why so serious?
Lol, it was just a thought but you took it like a life and death choice. Did I even put a link to the trade machine? I can’t count how many times I’ve seen people say we should trade Monta for a big 2 like TMac. It’s just a thought form other people, not a huge fanpost supporting it. Did I even bring up getting in as an 8th seed? What if I said we could be a 7th 6th seed? Would you blast me for thinking that’s too high of expectations as well? And did you also just say you would rather lose a playoff series than win it? I just simply brought up bringing in a good starter could help and you just snap. May I remind this board has freedom of speech? I simply brought up we are similar, not the same but similar, is that so wrong?

I believe he already had it.
He should be back by the time the Warriors make the 2010 NBA Playoffs this season.
Yez!
lol.
I think they said it could be out 4 weeks or out for the rest of the season. Really depends on how it heels.

No more hating or negativity or skepticism.
I’d have to disagree with that statement.
You have a Great positive attitude and spirit, but not every fan is going to think the same.
Some will. Some won’t. That’s any general fan and that’s what makes life interesting.
It is also difficult to ALWAYS BE optimistic while putting negativity aside when we are run by a crappy front office. It is also very difficult to think the same about Don Nelson as our head coach and also very difficult to THINK POSITIVE with all the extra drama Warrior fans have had to go through.
But collectively as a whole, not even being biased, we Warriors fans are unique and are the best. It is absolutely insane how loyal of a fanbase the Warriors have.
Even though we all have strong opinions, optimistic or pessimistic, make dumb comments or highly intelligent comments, or repeatedly say “I’m so sick of the damn Warriors. I hate my life. I’m done with these fools,etc.”….we will always have one thing in common and agree on one thing:
Chanting: LETS-GO-WAR-RIORS!
(LGW! STILL! SO WHAT! I DONT CARE! [place current year here] NBA WARRIORS CHAMPS!)
and agree on supporting our Warriors team.
The end.

I'm riding the high from last nights game too
But lets see what happens tonight. We might have to come back to reality. Back to back games with only 8 healthy players is a challenge for any team, let alone our young Dubs. But, GO WARRIORS!

I think "WE BELIEVE"
As a sign should retired in hallowed hall of the arena…it was a past time….and these young players deserve their own new ‘mantle’….
How about:
In respect of one of Oaklands very own sons!!!
We make the Oracle new ‘Anthem’ tune during games MC Hammer and the signs all…
“CANT TOUCH THIS!” get everyone up dancing in the arena during timeouts….can you imagine 20,000 fans all screaming and shouting “Cant touch this…” with kids and that guy in the Blue Jump suit all doing Hammer dances…. The Hoop troop in the baggy trousers…..the Warrior Girls in the baggy trousers an crop tops….
Invite the man himself to come along, “Warriors adopt…MC Hammer”
Place would absoltely go off!!!

Forget all these slogans for the Warriors. Let's just expect them to win and believe that they'll win. You don't see the elite teams having slogans besides the Cavs because they are so full of themselves with LeBron.
by duballers23 on Nov 25, 2009 2:48 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
on a side note... Warriors + Lebron would be better than Cavs + LEbron
its a fun game to play. Put lebron on a non playoff team and see how good they’d do…..
Memphis suck… but you put lebron at the 3… all of a sudden OJ Mayo is a nice complimentary player, Marc Gasol is good…. top 4 seed in west

We Believe?
I believe that when Curry, Morrow, and Randolph spend heavy minutes on the court together, we will always have a chance to be competitive; against any team.
I believe that if Monta Ellis keeps playing like he has in the last two games, he will be a superstar in this league (but I still don’t think this is likely to happen).
I believe that when Corey Maggette stays on the bench, our team is a million times better.
I also believe that when Don Nelson comes back, so does 48 minutes of smallball and the losing streak will return.

Put Away the Champagne
We have been playing unbelievably well since we made the trade to ship Jax out of town, but I think it is still too early to start looking at playoffs.
Don’t get me wrong, if Ellis, Maggette and Radmonovic keep playing at the level they are playing, Randolph and Curry continue to improve, we get Biedrins and Turiaf back healthy and Raja Bell’s wrist only needs a month and not the season to heal, we could make a run to get one of the final spots in the playoffs.
The only thing is, after last night, other teams are not going to be taking us lightly and it will be how the team adjusts that will be the determining factor on us making a run for the playoffs.

"We have a team we can believe in."
Sure we do. But do we have a FRONT OFFICE we can believe in? Don’t get it twisted. I think a lot of folks on this site believe in the TEAM, but they have no faith in Cohan and co. We cannot conflate believing in the players with believing in an incompetent and crooked franchise.
You mentioned the WE BELIEVE warriors of two years ago… well.. I don’t think anyone here needs to be reminded of what happened to them. If history has taught us anything it’s that winning is NOT a priority to this ownership, thus they’re not afraid to COMPLETELY DISMANTLE a team regardless of how successful they are.
I think we need to be cautiously optimistic because so long as the Warriors are run by people who don’t know their * from their elbow then we’re really setting ourselves up for another epic letdown. If we really want to see success over the long term then the idiots in charge of this organization need to get run out of town.
by bogeydead4 on Nov 26, 2009 12:11 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
thus they’re not afraid to COMPLETELY DISMANTLE a team regardless of how successful they are.
You say that like we could freeze time, both in terms of players contracts and players ages, so we could keep the team together forever? We don’t need to go into detail on the JRich trade, some people don’t like it some people don’t mind it, the real point is it’s fair to call that one more towards “dismantling” the We Believe team. Other than that, though, what have we done to “dismantle” the team? Guys like Pietrus and Barnes contracts expired so they left. Baron’s contract expired and someone else paid him way more money than they should. Harrington just wasn’t very good so we shipped him off. This wasn’t a Florida Marlins style firesale. These were regular things that happen in the NBA to all teams, championship contenders or not. Acting like we should have kept the same team around for some long period of time is just pointless – in the normal process of things some players were going to leave. That’s life. Deal with it. Simply put, this whole "omg they dismantled “We Believe” crap isn’t a real argument.
Besides, are you really upset that we aren’t paying a 30 year old with a history of not getting along with coaches, injuries and motivational issues $54M over the next 4 years (including this year)? Especially when said player shot 5.3 3PA’s per 36 last year and 4.6 per 36 this year, while shooting 30.2% and 31.6% from that range, respectively?

"the idiots in charge of theis organization need to get run out of town."
Hate to say it but there is no mechanism in the NBA for doing this. So the choice is to give up or enjoy the moment and hope for a better future. I choose to enjoy this team.

This is PATHETIC
With 30 teams in the league and 16 teams in the playoffs, more than half of the teams in the league make it to the playoffs.
With that said, only 1 out of the 15 years Cohan has been here we have been a playoff team.
Now some fans are saying, “I think its premature to think we are a playoff team”
PATHETIC.
We can’t even think about being mediocre.
Its pathetic when teams like Boston, LA, Cleveland, Orlando, and San Antonio are pissed when they dont win the Finals, and we are content with not making the playoffs

nellie's a loser
and while 1/2 the teams make the playoffs every year, ONLY 8 HAVE WON THE TITLE THE PAST 30 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cogitate over that fact when you hear the baseball whiners crying over how the big-money teams always win the title in that sport. well, 8 teams have won the world series in just the past ten years.
