When rookie point guard Stephen Curry brings the ball upcourt for the Warriors tomorrow night against the Memphis Grizzlies, he needs to know where every player is located on the floor. He needs to know where they’re supposed to be three seconds from now. He needs to know what play his coach wants to run, needs to know which one of his teammates is feeling neglected, needs to know if there’s a hot hand which deserves more shots.

Good article.

I hope that he’ll be one of the leaders during the season.

And this is Csn Bay Area?!

Well...

Those so called veterans better get used to Steph Curry because he’s not going anywhere…good kid too

+1

I think in time Monta and Beans will get used to him but Maggs and jack do look very uninterested in him. I’m not surre about AR though, cause he has not got enough playing time for us to know!

I don’t think Maggs will have a problem with him. Maggs will always do what he is paid for…be an efficient scorer. As long as he comes off the bench for limited minutes, he is an asset doing what he does. If he is doing any more than that (which has been the case the first 2 games) he is detrimental to the team.

I wish Bwright wasn’t injured, things would be so much better IMO.

He don’t have to take that role… The leadership role is not for (Curry). We have other players for that, who’ve been in the league longer than him.

Interesting quote. Curry doesn’t seem like he cares to be a vocal leader off the court, but he should be running the show on it.

I love Curry for these quotes

Referring to the Houston 3rd qtr loss…

Our third quarter became a little ‘my shot’ thing, where it was one pass and shoot the first shot. I think we’re best when the ball starts moving. We got back to that in the fourth quarter. It was just that third quarter, when they made that run, we all tried to kill it individually instead of keep doing what we’re doing by moving the ball and getting everybody an equal opportunity.

I’m doing it by how hard I play on the court and every possession trying to make something happen and not taking any plays off," Curry said. "When they see how hard you’re working, then they’ll respect your game and what you’re offering to the team. So that’s my approach.

It means he sees the problem, and he gets it, and he knows that he cannot simply jump in and take over right now. He needs to earn some respect and trust to have weight behind his opinion.

But I wonder… Are Monta and Jack recognizing that Curry is putting effort in to learn? Are they trying to fit Curry in and fit in with Curry? Or do they have a “We’re the vets, so you listen to us” kind of attitude going?

Or do they have a "We’re the vets, so you listen to us" kind of attitude going?

Well I certainly hope so. They are the guys with the experience so them deferring to a raw rookie would not make sense. That’s why changing the plan from Montay to Curr-bury was a dumb move. No one trusts a new kid to move in and take over a company or a team.

The "raw rookie..."

…is the brain they have on the team. It might not make sense for, say, Jackson’s pride, but it does make sense for the win column, and the fanbase.

but it does make sense for the win column, and the fanbase.

The distraction of a rookie point It hasn’t helped the win column. Some of the casual fanbase might enjoy the continual new kid on the block syndrome but that’s not how to win games, experienced players win games.
