Watson might be the reason why we came back but...

Monta was the only think that kept us from getting blown out.

Morrow

had a couple of big shots too. Including the one where he disregarded K-Smart to go for the last shot at the end of the 3rd.

Hmm, perhaps I should add a couple of action photos

And links to various photo collections.

I like that last one, definitely a Funleavy moment to add to the collection. I don’t know what’s happening in that first one. Was that when Monta ran into the crowd on the baseline?

by IQofaWarrior on Dec 1, 2009 12:09 AM PST up reply actions

yeah, that was the play with monta.

i just found the photo comical with a random pair of legs in the air in the stands. of course, i’m glad that monta wasn’t hurt though.

Oh wait, now I remember why I didn't want to add photos

I didn’t want to spoil the photo fun that usually comes with the recaps.

Since we're done with the Pacers this season, just for fun...

This would have been my poll question had we lost:

Q; How did you react when Mike Dunleavy stepped on the floor?
A1: Boo. I booed until the security guards taped my mouth shut.
A2: Boo. I booed because everyone else booed.
A3: No reaction. I’m over the Dunleavy years.
A4: No reaction. I don’t know who he is or what he’s done.
A5: Cheers. Because… (specify in comments)
A6: Other reaction/reason. (specify in comments)

by IQofaWarrior on Dec 1, 2009 12:24 AM PST reply actions

A5: Cheers. Because...

He’s not wearing a Warriors uniform.

by k759 on Dec 1, 2009 12:31 AM PST up reply actions

What happened during the game, were there audible boos? I would’ve rocked A1 for certain, if only because I’m a bitter, small person.

On 5/7, the best part of waking is up LOLDGERS in my cup.

by GameSix on Dec 1, 2009 7:54 AM PST up reply actions

I didn’t boo, but it felt a little weird. I felt like he was trying extra hard (and I wasn’t watching, this was through the box score) to show us how wrong we were. He just seems like an ex in a relationship that ended bad that realizes they didn’t get the better end of the deal (IMO) and now tries to bring us down to his level. It could be completely off, that’s just how I view it.

But I don’t get that same vibe from Murphy.

So I guess A6.

From the warriors.com recap
Keith Smart
On Tonight’s Game:
"At some point in the game there was going to be an explosion offensively for us. The defense had to travel with you all the way through and we just had to keep playing defense. I think C.J. played a big part in that, coming in and making some plays. He gave another ball handler on the floor and of course Monta has been playing at a level that has been pretty incredible. "

"I try to preach to these guys that the defense follows you every where you go. They bought into that tonight."

On Chris Hunter:
"When you are on a shoe-string budget you’re always going to be ready because you have to pay rent. I know that feeling when you’re in the minors. He will always be ready."
Monta Ellis
On His Performance:
"Actually my wife asked me to get 50 tonight, I was pulling for it. But we all know what happened at the end. I didn’t know I had five fouls…kind of snuck on me a little. When I fouled out, she said ’45 and win is cool with me’ so I’m happy."
Corey Maggette
On Tonight’s Game:
"(Monta Ellis) had a great game tonight. He kept us in the game the first three quarters and just kind of took over. Then C.J. (Watson) came in and made some great plays, and (Anthony) Morrow…just a great team effort tonight."
Anthony Randolph
On Monta Ellis:
"It’s unbelievable. He’s been carrying us these last five games, coming close to winning and stuff like that, and just being able to sit over there and watch what he does is kind of unbelievable…for a guy his size too."

Monta’s married?

Get some, young fella.

by belilaugh on Dec 1, 2009 4:52 PM PST up reply actions

I didn't intend that to be a "Warriors Wonder" poll tonight

that’s why I asked who was a “hero”. Still, I’ll consider taking Monta out of the next poll and ask a different question.

Chris Hunter has to be my Warrior Wonder. That guy has been in the right place at the right time more than anyone on the Warriors so far this season, and he’s barely played.

He should definetly start against the Nuggets and Nene.

Agreed

When Turiaf & Beans get back, we should drop Moore and keep Hunter.

With AR Hurt Hunter should become a factor

Don’t know if AR is going to miss games with the foot injury, but if he does Chris Hunter just may make a case for AR’s minutes.

He’s not spectacular, like AR can be 1/10 plays – but he’s solid – and BEEFY (Larry Riley – that’s for you!)

Not sure he’s a 30-35 min PF for the W’s. But he’s the truest 4 on the team right now – and plays the game at the right speed.

by joegiant on Dec 1, 2009 8:06 AM PST reply actions

AR will miss the Denver game because of the elevation

During the post-game talk, Garry St Jean said that the higher elevation would make his angle swell up more, so they are probably being cautious.

Chris Hunter needs a nickname!

Monta was unbelievable but defense won this game. We played none at all for 2 1/2 quarters (other than Monta v Granger), and then suddenly started scrapping in the 3rd and got the Pacers off their game. Morrow and CJ did a lot to help us out offensively, but they both really need to focus harded on D. TJ Ford was getting to the rack at will in the first half, and beating those guys down the floor even off made baskets.

That was a fun game to watch last night.

Love the big swing in the second half and Ellis’ tenacious style last night. Chris Hunter looked pretty good as well … give that man more burn!

Scattered thoughts…

1. “Pacers Recap” is a palindrome.

2. I’m not sure IQofaWarrior’s hard work on this site has ever been adequately recognized. Dude is closing in 15,000 posts. Not only is that double my output in my three-year GSoM career, but it’s also more than AB1, FJ, Tony.psd, RDiz, and DJFL combined. Mad props, IQoaW.

3. On the alternate poll question: I’m not really the booing type, yet somehow, after all these months, the mere sight of Mike Dunleavy’s stupid face still fills me with an inexplicable urge not just to boo, but also to go all BritWarrior on his neck. And watching him clang three-pointers in key situations fills me with relief and joy, and intensifies my love for Anthony Morrow.

4. I’m fully drinking the C-Hunt kool-aid. A tall and wide and thick dude who also knows how to play the game? Sign me up. As others have initimated, we should dump Mikki and Devean post-haste and get this guy 15-20 minutes a game. I’m starting to wonder if his beefy presence in the post might make it easier to flip Biedrins and Randolph for Bosh (if he’ll agree to an extension). I could totally live with a big rotation next season of Wright-Bosh-Hunter-Turiaf. If AR blows up into KG … well, that’s a chance you gotta take.

5. Monta’s looking more and more like a shorter Dwyane Wade. If he can cut down on the TOs and keep getting himself to the line like he did last night, he’s basically there. And even if he doesn’t quite get “there,” it’s a great relief to know we have a guy who seems totally ready — both physically and mentally — to be our top banana. Here’s hoping the Return of Nellie doesn’t cramp his style in any way. If it does … well, fire Nellie. Until further notice, this is Monta’s team.

There will be no extra point!

Hunter

I still haven’t seen him defend anyone who has any post moves. I mean, I like the guy (and I would have REALLY liked him in 2007-08), but let’s not get carried away here. Obviously the Biedrins/AR for Bosh is a pipe dream (the Raptors can do much better, if they decide to move him at all), so let’s just settle down.

by Supafishal on Dec 1, 2009 2:58 PM PST up reply actions

You really think the Raps can do “much better” than Biedrins + Randolph for a guy who’s almost certainly going to walk at the end of the season? If so, what are they waiting for?

On Hunter … yeah, I don’t think he’s any kind of savior; I just like that he comes in, takes up a lot of space inside, hits his free throws, and doesn’t make a total fool of himself. On our current team, I think that warrants 15 minutes a game.

There will be no extra point!

"Dude is closing in 15,000 posts."
