Should we try to get Brand?
I have 2 possible trades for Brand
Warriors trade Monta and Wright for Brand
or Warriors trade Jackson Wright and Speedy Claxton for Brand
This trade makes us bigger and better
If Brand were able to play at least 50 games this would be a great trade because we would be able to play Morrow more, let him start, and play Maggette less
When Elton is healthy he is in Beast mode( love that phrase) 24/7.
First trade makes us bigger and more competitive
Curry
Morrow
Jackson
Brand
Biedrins
This trade allows us to keep Jackson happy and have Brand mentor young Anthony Randolpha nd Biedrins
Randolph has a ton of potential, he really does, but he is not ready to start he needs more time and more size to go up against the NBA's elite. I just don't see him being able to stop a guy down low when he is getting posted up or him being able to post someone up downlow. We can limit Brand's minutes to 30 a night and keep Beans the same, play randolph 20 minutes a night
second trade makes us a little smaller but Brand still helps defensively
Curry
Ellis
Morrow
Brand
Biedrins
This helps our front line a lot it would no longer be shallow and Nelly gets a reliable star rebounder inside scorer and defender in Brand. It gives us a guy who can soak up minutes and guard those tough bigs down low and score down low

end of discussion.
did you see how the sixers, another uptempo team, played far better after he went down with injury last year? also, wasn’t there certain northern cali team he rejected in the FA market?

Is Brand actually on the trading block? And if so, why, other than that he’s making too much for playing poorly and will continue to get paid more as he gets older.
He may make us bigger, but if he doesn’t play better than he’s played so far this year, he won’t make us better. He was not the same player last year coming off the injuries that he was before. His scoring efficiency took a big, big hit. This year, he’s not coming out of the blocks showing that he’s got it back either.
Ah, the big FA’s of 2008: Maggette, Davis and Brand. In retrospect to how much and how well they’ve played, it’s not tough to say that we got the best deal in that bad lot. Sigh…

Disagree
Keeping Baron and as a result not going after Maggette would have been the best option IMO.
by MO-ped MO-problems on Nov 4, 2009 4:46 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I’d agree with that. Baron’s sharp decline is imo Dunleavy’s offense more than it is Baron’s ineptitude.

We need Bigs
Monta is mostly going to score and as you can see tonight if Turiaf or Biedrins ever are injured we are left very bare downlow, and Biedrins gets in foul trouble so you cannot play him 40 minutes( just saying because Nelly is Nelly) Plus Defense wins championships offense can only get so far. A team with good Defense is always going to stop the warriors, and they will score like hell on the Warriors poor defense. The least Nelly can do is encourage defense he is the laziest coach in the NBA, any other team would fire him in 10 games. Defense creates offense, offense does nothing to help the dubs look t their record.

Well, sure. Now remind us again what any of those well-worn clichés has to do with Elton Brand? Have you seen Brand lately? He looks like absolute toast: old, slow, rickety, can’t play D, rebound, or shoot at anywhere near his old levels. I watched him “play” yesterday in the Celtics blowout in Philly … somehow the boxscore says he played 28 minutes, but the Sixers might as well have been playing 4-on-5 when he was in. It was as if the old Elton had been abducted. At 4/$66M, he might just be the worst value in the NBA.
There will be no extra point!

I am not trying to change the subject, but why do we keep Don Nelson

because he’s a pretty good talent evaluator/developer. He’s not without his faults but what coach can we get here that you can really say with any degree of certainty would be better?

Keith Smart.
I would want to give him the throne of head coach and see what happens.
I am just hoping the is the situation the very second Don Nelson gets his most winningest coach award. ( Cop that up and get the hail out of here, pleeeeze.)
He has been assistant coach under Nellie for some time now to learn his offense scheme. The biggest difference is Keith Smart would put an emphasis on team defense first.
He is also a Player’s Coach, would get more respect from the Warrior players, and wouldn’t play mind games with them.
I wouldn’t put him in the same category as Mike Singletary who is also coaching a different sport, but I see a parallel situation for Keith Smart moving to head coach and getting the same respect from this Warrior squad.
In my opinion, it would be a “Smart” decision.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
I told Randolph that Bill Russell would tell him to keep that ball in play and start the break.

Should we try to get Brand ?
Hi Mikey, Brand is on a downward spiral these days. He’s not the same guy as he was when the Clips went to the playoffs. I’d want to see Brand show some signs of resurgence before trading anyone but a rookie for him.

Brand Looks Horrible
Brand has looked horrible in these first few games..I agree with skeptic, lets wait a month and see if this guy can still play..
We have enough guys on the team now that can’t play, we don’t need another..

Nelson The Huckster
Anyone that thinks this drooling old fool should still be coaching is either a personal friend of the Huckster or loves offense and hates defense..Just take a look at this team of his and how they have zero clue of their roles on the team..
THE PLAYERS HAVE GONE PUBLIC ABOUT THE FACT THAT THEY DON’T KNOW THEIR ROLES, HOW LONG THEY WILL PLAY, OR WHAT TO DO FROM GAME TO GAME..Enough said..

Monte For Brand
That deal would be incredibly horrible, which means the Warriors would consider it..
