Hornets wing players disappointing
"Disappointed with the production at his two-guard spot, New Orleans Hornets Coach Byron Scott said Saturday he'd start Devin Brown on Sunday night against the defending world champion Los Angeles Lakers and put Morris Peterson on the inactive list.
"It's a 2-4 start and I'm not really getting anything out of Mo at the starting two guard," Scott said following practice at the Alario Center. "It just might be by committee right now; give Devin a chance then six games from now, maybe give Marcus (Thornton, rookie from LSU) a chance and just go with (the most effective) guy.
"That's the only thing I can do right now. I think we're playing without any productivity from Mo, and Julian (Wright, small forward) is kind of down right now, so it's almost like playing five against three. We've got to bring somebody in there who can bring some energy and hopefully kind of pick it up a little bit."
Peterson had left the gym and was unavailable for comment."
I read this as "we're getting desperate enough to really want Stephen Jackson."

We wouldn't take that.
It’d have to be a three or four way trade for Jack to go to New Orleans

I’m not sure how I understand how expanding the deal to 3 or 4 teams could help. Seems doubtful any team would be more willing to give us a piece we kinda like or an expiring contract in exchange for Peja, MoPete, or Posey. Can you explain that and maybe provide an example?

Cause our FO has made it clear we actually want something useful
Bringing another team in we may be able to get a better player. If we wanted Peja that deal probably would have been already made. Plus teams will start to get desperate for him. Cleveland may, New Orleans may, Miami may etc etc

Ok, we want a useful player, but who is gonna give up a useful player and accept peja in return?

Did I say the other team would get peja?

ummmm....
ok, then what would they get. this is why i asked you to proved an example trade where bringing in a 3rd team would in any way help.

So your asking me to go the trade machine, make a trade a=only to have you shoot it down?
No thanks

I’m just asking you to show me an example of a trade where including a 3rd team in the deal would help facilitate the trade. Again, I just don’t understand why any team would be willing to send us a useful player in return for anything the Hornets would be willing to give up for Jackson. I’m open to hearing you explain how you think a 3rd team could help, but just saying that a 3rd team would help and refusing to provide any explanation or example makes your argument pretty hollow.

I think it's prett y clear the 1. We are going for a solid player in return
Hence us saying no to Dalembert. How a 3rd team could help us is simple. New Orleans has no value to offer for Jackson and possibly we can can get something out of a 3rd team in which they may want something from New Orleans. I’m sure there are plenty of teams that would like James Posey…. But I don’t want to sit and argue so this is all I will say.

I’m not asking you to sit and argue I’m asking you to provide ONE example. You said “New Orleans has no value to offer for Jackson.” I simply want to know what team is then going to accept the Hornets’ “no value” (Posey included in that) and send a player any more useful than Sam Dalembert. Also a big, like Dalembert, who rebounds and defends sounds pretty damn useful right about now. And how do you know that swap was offered and we rejected it? I’m 99% sure you can’t come up with a reasonable example of a 3rd team making a Jackson deal with N.O. net us a useful player, but I’d love for you to prove me wrong.

Your completely right
You know everything that is to ever be know ever about basketball. I’m so sorry for even trying to share an opinion. I should have known that you were here to correct me. And I said no value for Jackson but maybe another team may want Posey. Also logic can’t always be used when dealing with a front office like ours. Weird things happen, like Baron leaving, or J Rich being traded, or that we somehow lost Murphy and Dunleavy for Al and Jack. Expect the unexpected when dealing with what moves we may make. Or with any front office, you remember the Pau Gasol trade right?

then why not just expect the unexpected with a jackson for peja trade? i never claimed to know anything except that you couldn’t actually come up a a logical reason why a 3rd team makes things any easier.

would have to be Jack and Speedy for Peja. Cutting almost half of Peja’s salary off their payroll a year early and getting a more useful player seems like a pretty nice deal for N.O. I feel like thats a trade that could be made at pretty much any point before the deadline so I wouldn’t blame the Warriors front office if they were pursuing something a little better.

I have no faith in Riley's
abilities anymore. he talked big in the post season but this team stinks this year.

well at least you gave the guy a real chance, its not like turning this franchise around in 6 months is too much to ask.

he talked a good and intelligent talk when he was introduced and he really inspired confidence so I thought that this might be the turning point of our front office debacle. if anything, it’s just crap repackaged with some sprinkles on top.

Other than being cheap, what reason was there not to pick up a 4th big after Wright went down. Even Kurz would have sufficed (in comparison to Mikki Moore). At least he has 1 useful skill (3 pt shooting big man).

I’m not claiming he had a perfect offseason. I was never a fan of the Moore signing and would’ve preferred at leas a dozen other similarly priced and similarly available bigs. I’m just saying its a little unfair to say Riley has failed because after 6 months he hasn’t made this team better and because Mikki Moore (who I assume was signed to be the 5th big) is starting games.

shouldn’t Byron be more upset that the team has pretty much quit on him dating back to last year’s playoffs?

It's the Baron trade all over again...
anyone notice how we have Speedy on the roster?

Now we just need chris paul to throw a tantrum. Quick someone get him the phone number for Jackson’s agent.

I’m not really getting anything out of Mo at the starting two guard
And it took you how many years to figure this out Byron? Someone is not very observant in Charlotte….
If Bochy coached the Warriors Bengie Molina would start every game at PG.

Let's give them 2 wing players!
Jackson+Maggette for Peja+J.Wright works on the trade machine. New Orleans would have Paul, Jack, Maggette, West, Okafor, and Posey all under contract for the next 3 years.
If they’d rather get rid of Mo Pete instead of Wright we could just add one of our expirings to the mix. I’m down for either of those trades.
I don’t see why N.O. wouldn’t do this trade. Jax and Maggs would let CP3 handle everything. They do too much on our team because both of them, and Nellie, don’t trust anyone else on the team except for Monta. They would be playing with the best PG in the game and one of the top 5 or 10 PF’s in the game. Thus, both of them would see themselves as compliments to West and Paul, rather than the only veteran players on the team. That comes from the fact that everyone knows Paul and West are better than both Jack and Maggs. They both know they’re better off in complimentary roles.
This trade would turn New Orleans into a top contender for a title and it would relieve us of Jax and Maggs. We would turn the keys of the franchise over to the youngsters in all ways. This, to me, is a win-win trade where both teams benefit. Jack and Maggs get to play for a contender, and JWright can get playing time in a system that is perfect for him. Kinda sucks for Peja though… Maybe he can be Belinelli’s replacement for Andris and Ronny.

Hornets slaughtered the Clippers tonight, getting a strong performance from Devin Brown and a solid one from Peja. Hopefully this isn’t the start of a trend.
