ESPN has Monta 5th in the race for defensive player of the year
Monta has been playing some good D lately, and I'm on his jock as much as anyone, but even I've got to admit this is taking it a little far. Great to see a Warrior get some national pub though. If we can get to .500 somehow by the break I think he'd have a pretty good shot at being an All Star, especially if people are giving him props for his D.

This is Kristin Kreuk, now zip it. - GTTM
Fully agree
He has been playing lock down.
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"
he is no where near top 5 in D.
terry put up like 20 or so on him and parker 36.
i can name at least 10-15 players on top of that list better than him
And J. Smith isn't the best in the NB either
Where is Battier on this list? It’s more about defensive plays made than just simply being a good defender. And he did a decent job on Terry and who can really stop Parker any way?
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"
Monta should be in the race for MIP
You know I spit technique to the freshest freak
Gimme a call you will see results in just a week

Would you do this trade?
MEM gets RANDOLPH + expiring contracts of AZUBUIKE + CLAXTON
MIN gets GASOL + WRIGHT + expiring contract of BELL + GSW 1st Rd Pick
GSW gets JEFFERSON + JARIC
GSW LINEUP:
PG CURRY
SG ELLIS – MORROW
SF RADMAN – MAGGETTE
PF JEFFERSON
C BIEDRINS – TURIAF
or how about this?
Jefferson for Randolph + Morrow + Turiaf + Claxton
PG Curry
SG Ellis
SF Azubuike
PF Jefferson
C Biedrins
SICCCCCCKKKK!!!
Al Jefferson is horrible, gambino-trade-bot. Terrible on defense, mediocre on offense, and in alarming career decline.
I mean, I hate almost all the idiotic, unrealistic trade proposals with which you spam this board (rarely with even a word of explanation or elaboration), but at least most of them end up netting us players that are half-decent. This one is just lose-lose.
There will be no extra point!
mediocre on offense?
he’s averaged over 20 points a game the last two years.
Thing is, most of the guys in the NBA can “average 20 points a game,” given enough shots. Question is, do they score efficiently when they shoot? In the case of Jefferson, the answer is no. His career true shooting percentage (which factors in free throws and three pointers, to give a complete picture of how efficiently a player scores) is .536 — mediocre at best for a big man. And this season, he’s gone from mediocre in this regard to downright awful: .490. Meantime, his rebounding rate has fallen off drastically from last season (10.7 to 8.5 per 36) and his turnover rate has ticked up.
There’s a reason, beyond “bad supporting casts,” that Al Jefferson’s teams have always terrible. At his current rate of production, he’s terrible. And even at his best, he’s not very good. Straight up, I’d rather have any one of the four guys the gambino-trade-bot™ proposed than Jefferson. And yes, that includes Speedy Claxton, who has value as an expiring contract (as opposed to being in the first year of a 4-year, $54M contract).
There will be no extra point!
yeah he's been pretty good.
Not top 5 or anything of course, but let’s be realistic here and not act like we didn’t know that ESPN are a bunch of idiots. Come on they had Lebron as the 2nd in DPOY voting last year.
