Make ESPN feel our pain on Friday: Warriors vs. Wizards
New twitter account, btws:
Unlike Tim Kawakami (he's often amusing), I refrain from deriding fans who still show up to Warriors games. I'm a sucker like everybody else, and I occasionally find myself grinding teeth in the Oracle. But I'm not going to our first nationally televised game on Friday--witnessing the Bobby-Cohan brigade suffer a revenue drop is just too much fun. For those who are going, allow me to be an arm chair general. To Warriors Nation, I propose a compilation of snarky in-game activities. I'm not endorsing outright subversion per say--the following is just a collection of things fans ought not to not to do:
- The old bag on the head: Classic. Concise. Still comical.
- The 'All I want for Christmas...' signs: We have so many desires this holiday season--new ownership....a sober coach....new coach...Randolph starting. I also would enjoy a "Happy Hannukah, our coach is meshuganah" sign.
- The 'We Suck' signs: Whoever came up with that is a genius. Bagheads, this would be a great sign to rock.
- Start a campaign for Bill Simmons as GM: The ESPN cameras would be more inclined to pick that one up than would the PR friendly CSN operation.
- 'Bring back Mullin' chants
- 'Fire the drunk' chants
- 'Fire Nellie' chants
- 'Where's Randolph at?!' chants ('The Wire' reference): You could also go with 'Where the F*** is Randolph?!'
- Boo Nelson at any opportunity: Any bad substitution, any time he gets up off the bench, pre-game intros, whatever. Don't feel badly about it either, this guy made a scotch-soaked call into KNBR on a gameday. Nellie needs some harsh consequences to break through that fog around his dome.
I've been reading a trope around here, one that really bothers me in lieu of recent events: It's the idea that fans can't judge the jackasses running this awful team. For every reasoned critique of Warriors madness, there are a few comments that fall into the 'oh what do we poor little fans know, we have no clue what's happening behind the scenes!' category. In a way that theme is correct: Warriors operations are so murky that it indeed is hard to know what the hell is really going on. But that shouldn't take away our ability to judge. Hell, a big part of the problem is the lack of transparency.
I've worked for the NBA (low level, of course) and followed it my whole life. Trust me when I say the league is replete with incompetence at every management ladder rung. Yes, Morey, Presti, and Buss are a part of this league. But the NBA also has its share of doddering ex-jocks (McHale, I. Thomas, Kiki V), and looney 'businessmen' (Sterling, Cohan&Bobby). Yes, we damn-well can harshly judge an operation that fails to make the playoffs 15 out of 16 years. And we have more evidence at our disposal than ever before:
Notice the two starters (now one due to surgery) at the bottom of this list:

| Radmanovic | 39% | 9.7 | 23.4 | -13.6 | -7.1 | -3.1 | -3.9 | -9.8 |
| Moore | 35% | 12.4 | 25.8 | -13.4 | -15.4 | +1.1 | -16.5 | -14.6 |
And here are some Hollinger PER stats:
Randolph PER: 18.11
Radmanovic PER: 7.84
Moore PER: 11.42
(Note: I don't buy the bad Ellis rating because he's in virtually all game for a terrible team, sort of like Kevin Durant last year. Plus/minus is best when comparing guys of nearly equal playing time)
So if there is a rationale for letting Randolph rot on the bench, it can't be winning now. But hey, we can't judge. We don't know the game like the guy who plays Vlad Rad at center. Unless Randolph has a Michael Beasley situation on his hands (i.e. addiction), this is inexcusable. Please, give em' hell on Friday.

on the Kings-Wiz telecast in Sac last night they mentioned they’d see the Wiz again this Friday against the W’s. makes sense, 1 hr drive for their broadcast team.
that’s the only 7:30 pm game tomorrow, so it can’t be dropped. the 1st game starts at 5 pm (Cavs v Bucks).

contrary to what you might think
The nation as a whole is entertained by us. While teams like San Antonio win, they are also boring. Say what you will about the W’s but boring is not one of them.

I dunno if millions are going to tune in to watch Radman brick 3’s.
We used to be entertaining… this year, not so much.

actually I consider Mully to be among the McHale’s, Kiki’s, Dumar’s, Bird’s & Thomas’ of the league.
if anything, the focus should be on Rowell & Cohan. instead of sticking with young players (which mean losing and low ticket sales while you wait for them to develop & gain experience), for 16 years they’ve been more concerned with how they can get ticket sales up for this year (which means trading said young players for vets that can eek out a few extra wins to draw the masses – trading #10 for Blaylock, wth?).
Boo Nelson at any opportunity: Any bad substitution
This is bad. Vlad will think we’re booing him, and he will pour his heart out in his livejournal that nobody reads anymore.
why would we want to make him a Dunleavy-like head case? players play best when they have confidence, why would we want to take that away from a player on a team that we root for?

Because certain people are just .....
Well….I dont think I’ll go there…
But I agree Homer, as I have said, I have no issue with people having a go at the FO, they have brought this on their own head…but as long as a player shows me some heart, fight and spirit, proud to wear the warriors badge, I will never boo them.

I may not boo but..
I would yell out “FINALLY!” after a sucky player gets pulled.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
I told Randolph that Bill Russell would tell him to keep that ball in play and start the break.
RANDOLPH: "I know. But sometimes, you gotta let ‘em know."
(MT)
Simpler...
Let’s just chant “SELL THE TEAM” the whole game. The problem isn’t nellie, randolph or anyone else. It starts MUCH Higher and it won’t change till that changes.
Keep it classy, no need for “you suck” or booing specific players or coaches. The problem is ownership

I like this. *thumbs up* Rec'd.
I think this could work. I’ll try to start it on Friday. Hope it circles around.
Or if it starts before i start it. that works too.

Ya. I was thinking that too.
He might sell it to Anahiem just to shove it in our faces.
Anahiem of Golden State Southern California of Los Angeles thats 37 miles away from Sepulveda Blvd Warriors.
yay.

a risk worth taking
worst case we get an expansion team w/ seattle
I'm pretty sure...
he would need league permission. Not likely.
John 8:44 -Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
"Lets keep Randolph!'
“Fire Nellie!”, “Sell the team!”, " Don’t trade Ellis!" all those sound good. We should make signs, “WE SUCK” signs, anything to get ESPN’s attention.
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"
I seriously nervous
about this team getting blown up…AGAIN. Hopefully Anthony Randolph doesn’t become the next Tyrus Thomas – tons of potential but ultimately mishandled/mentored/groomed by those in charge of his maturation process….too many similiarities between the stories of those two guys already. Did anyone see Nellie RIPPPP into Randolph after that missed assignment last night against the Spurs? I felt so bad for AR…he looked like deep down he wanted to clothesline his coach.
I don’t get why they would consider moving Ellis…this guy does things on the court offensively that you just can’t replicate for the kind of contract he’s signed to…but the kicker for me has been his defense as of late.
It just sucks….I wanna see a team who has gel’d and genuinely wants to see themselves grow as a group….like The Thunder/Kings – this team just looks like the players are always looking to have one foot out the door….
My icon is a testament to the Dubs ability to play defense.
Did anyone see Nellie RIPPPP into Randolph after that missed assignment last night against the Spurs?
Yeah, I noticed that too. AR just kept walking, not saying a word, and looking like he wanted to cry. But he always looks like hes gonna cry, so nothing new there…
WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...

I saw it
It was on a Blair offensive rebound where Vlad Rad ran into Randolph. At what point do double standards become triple standards?
ES
Tyrus Thomas – tons of potential but ultimately mishandled/mentored/groomed by those in charge of his maturation process
Maybe part of the blame should be attributed to Mr. Thomas, instead of 100% blaming the coaches? There have been a lot of players with potential who just didn’t work out- that’s why it’s called potential.
Realistically they are considering moving Monta because he is the only one playing well right now. Trading anyone else would be selling them while their value is low, while Monta’s value is probably near or at it’s peak right now.

"SELL THE TEAM" or "WE BELIEVE WE SUCK"
Banners/posters or chant…either one.
Keep us updated if you hear the boycot will happen.
or don’t put any money into Cohans pocket untill he sells. This guy is really digging us into a super deep hole.
Yeah, have lots of
Sell the team and lets keep Randolph chants

First game in a few years. Me and my friend are gonna go get drunk before, and then yell obscenities at Don Nelson.
bring your A-game!
run through your playbook a lil bit and get warmed up befroehand, cuz he might come back w/ some good ones
*****STOP BUYING TICKETS!*****
yall can boo/chant/make signs all you want but its not going to make a difference. stop putting money in cohan’s pocket! NBA is a business. as long as fans are showing that they care and still buying tickets, cohan wont give a [profane]. he’ll try to do a fix here and there, break it apart ,put a band aid but until we get a new owner/management or cohan gets struck by a lightning (best karma possible) the best fans in the nba will continue to suffer!
ive been a warriors fan for years and i havent been happy. its like dating a woman for years and not getting any action (one rub in the playoffs is not enough!) and im desperate. this relationship is not working out. no more dinner celebrations, gear shopping, gallons of beer, hotdogs & chips! no more pampering until i see a change. lol
seriously though, we need to cut the root of our problem and everybody knows what it is or just acting blind and putting the blame on the coach/players.
I have an idea for protest...
Read my post here for the idea…

how about everyone refuse to sit down for the entire first quarter
I know a lot of people wont do the refuse to show up until 2nd quarter thing – you paid too much to skip a whole quarter of action – so lets all stand up for a whole quarter.
The TV crew cannot ignore that.
This works well because whoever is behind you will have to stand starting a chain reaction from people who dont read this website.
by warriorsvictim on Dec 18, 2009 12:55 PM PST reply actions
That would be great.
But you could get kicked out or warned by the usher to sit down because you are in people’s way. (that’s if people complain about it which they usually do. especially if you sit in the lower section.)

did you guys even watch the last couple of games
randolph played terribly, and besides rad’s shooting, his defense and energy has been very helpful. I m so ashamed to see all of GSOM drinking this free zarko kool-aid. Really are you all the ones advocating Randolph playing, while letting andray blatche get offensive boards at will, and then you guys boo Rad man for a shooting slump, when he s putting effort on D that Randolph obviously won’t put in. Wow. Its Sad. Morrow was in a similar shooting slump and he gets destroyed on D but you guys don’t boo him out of the building.
And Maggette is trying hard to help the team right now, he’s giving us much needed scoring, rebounding and Defense..(Did you see Jamison get shut down?).
So Gsom please get off the free zarko rant kool aid. We are all frustrated with the season, but lets be honest.
Marco Belinelli's Biggest Fan
I didn't love Randolph's game tonight
He missed some easy boards and didn’t play well defensively. He still should be getting plus 30 mins per night with the current roster.
ES
it should be a nightly basis
he should start and if he shows something let him play longer, if he plays like he normally does, give him his 15-20 minutes.
