Hypothetically speaking, it's not out of the realm of possibility that we may make a play for T-Mac. I'm not one for various random trade posts a-la-Solutions over there. But I wanted to gauge what our communities position would be on trying to bring in T-Mac, not because I think it's a good Idea(nor a bad one), but rather because I think the FO is looking at all options.
And he could immediately do a few things for the franchise, here's they way I look at it.
Any negotiations for T-Mac would need to include a few players as we're looking @ $23 Mil+.
So we could ideally package up Rad Man($6.5 thru 2011), Speedy ($5 mil Exp), Raja ($5 mil Exp), and the icing is Magg's $10+ Contract over the next few years would be off our books.
So that's about $26.5 Mil going out, T-Mac would be $23.5. That would leave about $3 mil...this is what would make the deal for me. If we could get Carl Landry's $3 Mil in this I would be ecstatic. I don't think Houston would be to inclined to make this deal though, however I think Scola's contract is up this year, and they're going to have give him a nice offer to keep him, not to mention Yao would be coming back. So play time could be cut for Landry and he may walk.
If not, some pieces like Dorsey and Mensah-Bonsu may be added.
I think the FO would go for this since we get out from under Magg's Contract, while keep Salary relief w/ T-Mac's Exp contract and a HUGE boost in ticket sales/attendance with such a big name coming in. Not to mention the potential he would bring if he could be at 80% of the player that he was.
What do you guys think? Would it benefit us in any way?
