ESPN Report: Randolph/Biedrins for Bosh Was On The Table!

According to alot of the beat writers, our Golden State Warriors are going to be active players in this year's trade deadline. Many of the writers such as Kawakami and Thompson have sources claiming we are going after some of the bigger names out there such as Bosh & Stoudemire and the Dubz are willing to part with either Ellis or Biedrins.

According to Rich Bucher of ESPN:

Star-divide

League sources say the Warriors offered rookie Anthony Randolph and veteran Andris Biedrins to the Toronto Raptors for Chris Bosh and while the Raptors were not interested, other sources say the Warriors are also taking a run at the Phoenix Suns' Amare Stoudemire, presumably with a similar offer.

This tells me a few things. One, we don't value Ellis and Biedrins like we used too and two, if that report is true, Don Nelson/Larry Riley are the ones in control of the teams basketball personel decisions ( since Mullin drafted Randolph, I'm assuming he wouldn't be the one to trade him).

I believe the Dubz will make more than one trade before the deadline and even though we may not end up with some of these players mentioned, you have to give it up to the Dubz for considering big names in the trade market.

It’s unfair to Biedrins but its part of the business. If trading Biedrins/Randolph = Bosh than I’m in. Biedrins has been great to us but his offense is very limited. Bringing in someone like Bosh will give us someone who can score and also defend

by bushido on Feb 10, 2009 9:02 AM PST up reply actions

come on now..

why do people get so concerned with defense. No one on the Warriors plays a lick of defense and you’re making that one of the primary reasons to not go after a star like Bosh or Amare? come on now..

Really...

Bosh is actually a really good defender. Why do you think he got more PT than Dwight Howard in the Olympics? He was the designated post defender and rebounder. The dude is a stud on both ends of the court.

I agree with the latter, but not the former

Because PHX is actively shopping Stoudemire. Everyone knows that Stoudemire is on the trading block. PHX’s goal for the trading deadline is to get rid of him and get a future all-star in return. Toronto’s goal for the deadline is to put some solid pieces AROUND Bosh. They are not looking to trade him. They are listening to offers because they know the relationship is heading in a bad direction, but right now Bosh and Stoudemire are apples and oranges.

Same.

Biedrins is so underrated IMO. sure he’s not putting up as many points as last year, and is fg% is down from last year, he’s still freaking valuable to this teem.

& as much as I am annoyed with how CRAPPY monta’s doing (yes despite his injury and how he needs to get back with the chemistry..i thought he’d be doing much better than he is NOW….) i tihnk we need to wait and see how he does before we trade him cause i have a hugeass gut feeling that if we trade monta, its gonna bite us in the butt. hard.

Rumors and speculation

99.9% of the things we hear between now and the deadline will end up having been baseless rumors started by agents and the media to play up the hype around particular players and teams. Not saying this trade wasn’t actually offered, but I have my doubts.

Monta is the singular of Montus, of the Montai

by Supafishal on Feb 10, 2009 7:11 AM PST reply actions

not that i dont like biedrins but

i think they are thinking more of the big picture like: Media attention and super star power that would recharge the warriors. Also Biedrins free throws has probably cost us too many games that we just seem to forget about. Think if we had a center that could knock down those free throws.

by bojangles408 on Feb 10, 2009 7:29 AM PST reply actions

This trade sucks

Why would we lose our best bigman and a promising rookie for another bigman…that doesn’t solve our problems of who to play at the center spot..unless the warriors are gonna start ronnie or brandan, which if theydo, is a retrarted trade

To the contrary, this shows that we value them tremendously. Bosh is a big catch. We’re putting a lot of trust in him by acquiring him for two pieces of our future. But he’s still young and still getting better as well. He definitely has a higher ceiling than both players (and don’t try to argue that he doesn’t because that’s just ridiculous)

This would be a huge move. Ellis, Jackson, and Bosh is a legit core that would get us back into the playoffs.

Well said

I agree. This doesn’t mean that we don’t Biedrins, it just means that Bosh is a premier player in the league and in order to get one of the top dogs, you have to give up something of value. It’s not like Toronto is going to take Rob Kurz and Marcus Williams for him.

I like Biedrins a lot. He’s really grown in the years since we drafted him and it sucks to see someone like him go, but if it brings a legitimate All-Star big man to the team, then I guess I can live with it. As for Randolph, everyone says he has the raw talent and the potential to be a Top 10 talent, but didn’t we all hear the same about Ike Diogu? Let’s face it, regardless of who says what, Nellie isn’t going to let Randolph and Wright have a chance to grow here, so we might as well get something for them before their trade value is gone.

by krazybalr on Feb 10, 2009 8:43 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah, to me...

our most important players (value/salary) are KAz, Turiaf, Morrow, BWright, AB. Trade anyone else and I’m happy, although I’d prefer to keep Maggs at this point. CJ doesn’t play enough D but is getting recognition for his clutchness and Marco can be a valuable sweetener in many deals.

by FishStix on Feb 10, 2009 1:50 PM PST up reply actions

Jax is #1 on my list to go...but we still need a consistent scorer

in Maggette to help Monte and Bosh or Amare or Odom out on offense. Jax seems to play big one night and then disappears the next 4 or 5 games. We can’t have that. Among the three you have on your list, I’d keep CM and JC.

JR...An All-Time Warriors Favorite!

by MANUTEs BOLs on Feb 10, 2009 8:50 AM PST reply actions

then what

Trade Maggette, Jackson, and Crawford and then have only one legit NBA starting guard? Please don’t tell me Morrow, Belo, and Buike are legit starters in this league. Nice role players, yes.

Maggette would be great to keep because he gets to the hoop and to the line. That makes him a nice complement to Jackson. For some reason everybody is down on him when they should be down on Nelly and Ellis for being an idiot and getting injured.

Trading Jackson at this point would be a grave mistake. The Dubs wouldn’t get much relative value back for him, especially considering the fact that he is more valuable to the Dubs than he would be for any other team. This is for three reasons : 1. he’s the only remaining piece from We Believe, 2. he hits big shots, and 3. despite his faults, he still fills up the stat sheet beyond points (boards, 3s, steals, assists).

Duke grad student missing the Bay but holding it down for the Dubs from afar.

by eastbayglory on Feb 10, 2009 8:52 AM PST reply actions

We don't need Jax for the following reasons:

1. he takes volume shots just to reach 25-30pts
2. he makes stupid mistakes such as complaining to the refs and not getting back on D. He leaves his team hanging, which usually then shifts the momentum. Sometimes he even gets T’d up. Again, this can change the momentum.
3. he’s a TO machine
4. he doesn’t board as well as you think
5. who cares about the “We Believe” era? This is a new era so let that go will ya?!?!?
6. reason why he fills up the stat sheet (btw, you forgot to include TO there) is because somehow he’s the focal point of the offense. This is one of the reasons why I want Nellie gone. Nellie wants him to “expand” his game by doing other things. And these things certainly have hurt the Warriors. I like Jax if he plays within his limits.

I love Biedrins...

In a perfect world, I would not even think to part ways with either him or Ellis. AB has to be one of my favorite Warriors and he’s a double double machine. He’s a hardworker that continually puts in the time to improve his game during the season and during off season. Ellis, aside from the stupid moped incident, is the most electrifying Warrior since…..since……since………uhhhh I’m drawing a blank! haha J-Rich was an exciting high flyer but we never had someone with the speed, agility and talent that Monta has or had and at such a young age, you can only predict that he’ll get better (Note: I didn’t say smarter!). Once he gets back to form, sky’s the limit for this kid.

However, even with all this being said, I would definitely have to consider trading one of the two for a player like Bosh or Amare. These two guys are among the best power forwards in the league and they can do much good for our team. Honestly, if I could though, I’d unload Crawford and/or Maggette and just give them Randolph/Wright along with a couple of our wings like Belinelli and dead weight Williams. Plus I’d throw a bunch of cash at them. People saying that we don’t need a player like Amare Stoudemire must be out of their minds. Right now, Amare is understandably disgruntled but IF (That’s a truly big IF) we ever do get him or even if he gets traded to another team, people will soon see how good this guy can be and they will eat their words. Believe that!

Extending Jackson was a grave mistake

Having his expiring contract right now would of been INCREDIBLY valuable right now. I was against the exstension when I first heard him talking to Rowell. Now that we are at this point, I think the early Jackson exstension will begin to show more and more as a dumb organizational move. He would of been the icing on the cake contract for making a big deal splash with any team come the trade deadline.

One can argure

extending Jackson was a mistake. I will make the case that providing Jackson with an allstar puts us back into the playoff hunt. The dubs need a gamer! The only proven gamer on the warrior squad this year happens to be Jackson. Crawford is probably next on the list but to me has too soft of a game to be considered a gamer.

I don’t like Jackson as the primary go to guy but he’s the only one that nellie can count on (see 40+ min a game). I love Bosh’s game. He’s a baller that knows how to win. He is also supplemented by non-ballers up in Toronto. Put Bosh and Jackson together and bring in the playoff talks. Imagine:

Turiaf
Bosh
Jackson
Ellis
Crawford

Our current lineup is showing promise. Add Bosh to the mix and start making noise! The Bay Area deserves a star! No more Rudy’s! Love ya goose but if I had a choice, im going with Bosh!

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=32044543190165378&teams=99222222&te=&cash=

This way, we keep AB, ME, and then come off-season, we’ll have enough to get an established big somewhere. We’d also be able to get rid of Jax and his idiotic contract AND we get an exciting player (Rudy F) to run with ME. I’ve read that Rudy’s not getting the PT he wants due to the emergence of Jerryd Bayless. Plus they have Blake there. BTW, insurance is paying 80% of LaFraenz’s contract.

the point when you say:

If LaFraenz was 8-10 younger, yes then we’d be pursuing a “significant” player. The reason why I wanted to draw up that trade scenario is to dump salaries. Portland’s been looking to dump LaFraenz. I’d like to get rid of JAX and his fat contract. We’re not looking to get a “significant” player you know.
