Boooo Al Harrington?
I don't know about you all, but I think I'm about to booo Al "TMNT" Harrington tonight. I got them $8 best buy tickets so I'll be in attendance and when they call his name, I'm gonna start Booo'ing!
During his time here, I always defended Al from a lot of people who were understandably critical of him. I always thought he could be better and was a better player than what he shown as a Warrior but he could never quite show it. Then to the detriment of the team, he goes out publicly and asks to be traded, even during a time when we needed him most (with Monta and his moped incident, Baron gone and us having a whole new cast of young guys). He left his best friend, Stephen Jackson out on a limb. I thought that was pretty "Jacked" up! Don't you think? Now, I'm not going to give him the heavy "Booo'ing" treatment like I would to Mike Dunleavy every time he touches the ball, but I'm gonna let Al hear it a little bit. So, my question to you Warrior fans is what kind of reaction are you going to give big Al tonight?

I'd give him praise.
It’s another case in which the coach didn’t respect the players game. Al loved the bay, but because of tension with Nellie he wanted and had to be moved.
Hasheem "The Dream" Thabeet or Greg Monroe. A Warrior in 09.
With the 6th Pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, the SF Giants pick Donovan Tate.
Andre Smith in Silver & Black in 2009.
yah for sure, witch adds to my hate of nellie
but Al acted like punk; lowered his trade value

good point
That’s why i defended him too because I thought he was a “stand up guy” but Nellie mis-used him and did not play to his strengths IMO. I thought he was more fit as a post up player and would be better suited taking bigger defenders off the dribble and instead Nellie transformed him into a spot up 3 point shooter. Frustrations grew and the tension became known after a while. Barnett always used to talk about Al and say he was so “coachable” and I wouldn’t argue that for a second because in all of his interviews he said all the right things and you can tell that he tried to work hard to become what Nelson wanted him to be. He lost a lot of weight during the off seasons and was even praised by Nellie at on point. Nellie called him “dominant” but Al could just never live up to what Nellie demanded of him. The only thing I don’t like is that he went public with his trade request especially during such a hectic time but now that i think of it, I can understand his point of view. There’s only so much a man can take. Maybe I won’t boo him after all. We’ll see how many beers I can get down before tip off.

Problem was
he was cool about it for 2 years and didn’t get moved until he spoke up. Besides I refuse to booo anyone who was part of the We Believe Team… except for Jasikevicus, that guy pissed me off becuase he got front row seats to every game and even got to sit next to the players!!
Oh wait wasn’t he a player? Yeah lets booo that guy one day!

Back to Europe
Jasikevičius (#19) goes up for a block while with Panathinaikos.
On September 25, 2007, the Greek league giant Panathinaikos announced a 2-year agreement with Jasikevičius.4 His contract (€7,000,000 euros net for 2 years) and the total cost of the transfer (€8,700,000 euros net) made Jasikevičius’ move to Panathinaikos the most expensive athlete transfer in Greek sports history.

bullsh*t!!!!
absolutely rediculous. this guy demanded a trade because he wanted a bigger chunk of the offense, and he wasn’t nearly good enough to deserve it. nellie used harrington to hang out around the three point line and spread the floor, and that’s exactly what he was good for. where the hell you get off demanding more touches/minutes from one of the nba’s all-time greatest coaches when you are 6’9" and can barely touch rim, have no inside game to speak of, can’t rebound, can’t defend, and can’t pass.

why BOOOO?
He wanted to be a better player, better yet he thoght he was better. Don Nelson is a big a-hole,, and wasnt going to lose the battle against Al. I dont blame Al for wanting to leave. I wont cheer though!
Why boo a guy.........
Who worked hard while he was here, and wanted so badly to help the team??
Nelson never gave Harrington a fair opportunity.
because he was selfish

Like we even know
what really happened with Harrington this year. We have some ideas, scenarios, theories, and rumors. We don’t know what was said, what was promised, what was misunderstood, etc. No one has really come forward to clarify the situation. We know Al wanted more playing time. We know Nelson said Al was acting like an All Star when he’s not. Other than that, we don’t know what the key issues or conflicts were that really led to his trade. And until we do (if ever) booing someone who may be the relatively more innocent party is unjust.
I'm going tonight...
And it’s going to be a BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! fest.
A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.
I'd cheer the guy
Al seemed like a good, dude. He was always really nice to the fans, he was a good teammate, and he worked hard to improve his game. i don’t blame him for wanting out since nelson treated him like a$$.
Al was just another chucker.
Nellie would be yelling “Get down in the post!!” but he’d be chillin’ on the wing waiting to get the ball and chuck it. He wouldn’t even be in position to rebound most of the time. He’s happy now because he gets to drag his team down with his rampant chucking. Either that or he gets stripped trying to take his man off the dribble (further signifying that he should be in the low post).
People defending him are forgetting that he wanted more minutes in order to secure a long term contract or justify not opting out at the end of the season. It was all about the money for Al, but he wanted to play on his terms and not Nellie’s. Ha! Like that would ever work out.
That is what Nellie means when he said Al was acting like an All Star. I’m not saying Nelson handled it best, but Al simply didn’t embrace what he was being asked to do.
Boo him.
Just wondering
have you seen him play for the Knicks? I’m not implying that I have or anything, however I have seen at least three 30+ point games so he’s gotta be doing more than just chucking. Again I’m not defending what ever he’s doing in New York, it just seems that D’antonis working it better than Nelly did.

he's actually doing pretty good over there. I always see him on the ESPN ticker and his stat line looks pretty good.
I think he’s kind of on and sometimes he’s off. His consistency is probably a big issue over there but i think overall he’s doing well. I don’t have league pass or anything but just judging from highlights and stat lines, i can say he’s doin better as a knick than he was as a Warrior.

Consistency is a big problem for him.
His shot selection is still suspect.
The volume of shots that he puts up is too much.
Taking jumpers still puts him out of position to rebound.
He does look better over there (I’ve seen like 3 games). The confidence boost has improved his drive into the lane.

Well...
…you’ve got Brandan Wright on the team who’s a better post player than Harrington is. Harrington’s been in the league a long time, and he was a completely known quantity when we got him. He can shoot over 40% on threes, while he can’t seem to manuever in the post or hit easy layups to save his life.I’m not saying he shouldn’t try, but the fact is, feeding it to Harrington in the post instead of using him as a shooter minimizes his talent.
Harrington
Didn’t fit in here because of his absolute refusal to play in the low-post on offense. We needed him to be a 4 who could stretch the defense with occassional perimeter shooting, and he wanted to be a 3 that floated to the wing and took people off the dribble facing up. On top of that, he is a very poor rebounder (he really has no hops at all) and can’t play on the ball defense away from the basket. He was our best low-post defender (I recall how he frustrated Yao, Dirk, and Shaq on multiple occassions), and losing him was a pretty big hit given our current predicament in that area. I for one am happy that he has found a system and a coach that works to his strengths in New York, and I will always respect his game because of what he meant to the 2007 team. At the same time, we must recognize that his fading down the stretch in 2008 (and especially in the season clinching home loss to the Nuggets) was a major factor in our missing the playoffs last year. Moreover, the way in which he chose to go public with his frustration over the way he was being used was really unfortunate and unprofessional.
Monta is the singular of Montus, of the Montai
i like al
he said warrior fans were the best fans hes ever played for. the only reason why he left was cause of nellie and i dont blame him cause i hate nellie too.
Every time he is in
I would chant" NINJA TURTLE!!!" CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP!"
"Shallow Hal, wants a gal"
You're not hot anymore!
The Knicks had a winning record (above .500) before the trade....
And now the Knicks have a losing record. Enough said!
