Is there room for another Bay Area Team?

heres the link:

"SacBee" http://www.sacbee.com/kings/story/1612400.html

I know I hate the Kings but If they were to move down SJ...I dont know about how the rest of GSOM feels, but I think a team in San Jose would be a good idea. But to cheer against the Dubz would be crazy hard. A few years back if anyone remembers, the Dubz played a season at the Shark Tank while The Oracle was under renovations and I was able to go to more games. Even though we were bad at the time I enjoyed it. Anyway, If San Jose can get an the Kings, how many of GSOM'ers would convert to San Jo Royalty? If you think about it, GSOM blew up once the Dubz went mainstream a few years back, so Im sure a few would defect.

No no no no no

We’ve already got to deal with the Giants and there mis-allocation of bay area baseball revenue.

On an unbiased note it is nice to have a team that the whole Bay can support.Think how awesome it would be if the Warriors were a consistently good team. The We Believe atmosphere all season long and national respect would be amazing.

Damn thats a tough one..

And I was raised in San jo although, I dont live there anymore. But i think id still have to roll with the dubs.

Still,
ask me if the SJ kings make the playoffs and the Dubs dont, will i root for them. I gotta say yes, and in only that situation yes.

but this is all hypothetical right?

by meximocha on Feb 10, 2009 1:03 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

yikes

I would be scared of some of the NBA’s greatest fans leaving the Dubs for the other dudes.

But if it happened, I would feel the same way I feel about the A’s and Raiders. I would root for them, but the Warriors have always, and will always be my team. Unless I am ever fortunate enough to be an NBA coach, the Warriors will always be my fave NBA team.

Plus, it would be extra hard to root for SJ if they were still the kings. I’d like them more if a new franchise opened up there.

I'd still rep the Warriors...

but the San Jose Kings would be alright in my book ;)

ditto

Twice as much basketball (or is that twice as much losses to endure?) is fine for me

But I doubt in these times that any locals would fund this, though I guess HP Pavilion could be big enough to host basketball.

The San Jose Googlers!

hahah

yeah I’d probably end up getting obsessed with them and watch em’ non stop too… but that’s just how I am for Bay Area sports.

by FishStix on Feb 10, 2009 2:00 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Hell no

Teams move around too much. If they cant make it work I say collapse the team and send that talent back into the league.

I know that’s not realistic, but we need more talent per team, not more teams to root for

by warriorsvictim on Feb 10, 2009 2:06 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I would LOVE that move

being up in Reno the Warriors would then be my “local” team and I would save about $170 a year of league pass.

There's a party in my mind.
And I wish that I was there.

the 2 places the kings would really end up at

are probably either seattle or vegas – so one of those might help ya.

by mosdl on Feb 10, 2009 2:48 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

its all good

just move them out from between me and Oakland, is that to much to ask?

There's a party in my mind.

Lets be honest

San Jose would be a great idea but how many of us would actually go to the games?

In case you didn't know...

San Jose is the seventh biggest city in the U.S.

Yes

A little competition from any owner would blow Cohan and Rowell out of the water. Cohan has the shallowest pockets of any owner in the league, and he has been taking advantage of the fans for almost two decades. An owner like Cuban (or anyone who cares) would put Cohan out of business almost instantly.

Choan spends plenty of money

just on the wrong guys

I would root for both

and be happy with the outcome of any game where they play against each other.

I would

Replace the At&T park in S.F and make it a basketball arena.
The San Francisco Shrews
or San Francisco Super Sonics(If only Seattle sold their name and team which had Kevin Durant and Jeff Green aka the Thunder’s team, to S.F)

That woulda been nice..

I live in san jose now and

i would hate it if a team moved here because it would detract from the cohesiveness of warriors fans in the bay area.

+1

i definitely agree you on that. oracle just wont be the roaracle.

wouldn't mind a San Jose team at all

I don’t like how San Jose Kings sounds though. They’re going to have to change the name like Oklahoma did.

San Jose Sonics! haha

No way dubs 4 life

Lets ask people from LA if there were any Laker fans that turned to Clippers fans when they moved in… I think we know how that story turned out.

by q00pster on Feb 10, 2009 11:34 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

two crappy teams too close together

neither organization has had enough success for these two teams to be any closer than they are. The Lakers and Clippers work because one is a perennial contender.

I agree there is a better chance of a move to Vegas. In this economy there is no way Seattle will build an arena.

Warriors BABY!!

“This town ain’t big enough for the two of us”, never liked the kings and never will.

being a warriors fan has always meant dealing with Cohan

if another team was here and properly managed, it would be right to root for them..if you’re a basketball fan

Dubz for life.

i guess it would be cool to have another team in the bay. But i grew up with the Dubz. GSOM!! forever ahah

by JayDeeAye on Feb 12, 2009 12:16 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I mean, the other team might be geographically more convenient, but I have many memories and experiences with the Warriors that I cannot disregard. Even if the team moved to my hometown, I would root for them, but the Warriors will always be my number 1 team. Unless they get heisted out of the Bay like the Sonics were stolen from Seattle. I would find a new team. Probably the Clippers, since they are like the forgotten child of Los Angeles and I am too used to rooting for the disrespected, misunderstood underdog. (Or, if a new team came to the Bay, definitely them. But only if the Warriors leave)
