Keep the team

This organization knows what it wants to do. During our playoff run we had an okay team. We didn't have any all-stars but we had an exciting team to watch that had just barely made it to the playoffs.

Afterwards we did something that has sparked tons of controversy on this website and traded J-Rich for B-wright. Not gonna go into that, but what that trade did was decide for the franchise that we wanted to rebuild for the future around Monta and Biedrins, adding in new additions where we needed them.

Not a bad idea but I think many would agree that it would be nice to see what would have happened had we kept that squad for a year more. So we went from win now to win in the future. we can see more evidence for that because we didn't get baron the money he wanted so we could make more room for Monta's and Biedrins contracts which will expire in the 2013-2014 year, also a good move if we are talking about winning in the future. what we also did was sign S-Jax and Maggs to contracts that will expire both in the 2012-2013 year.

so what this organization is doing is trying to build around a couple of promising young stars. One of who is in the top of the league in rebounding and will eventually bring up the scoring too. Monta will eventually bring his stroke back and at some point be up there in ppg in the league. we have these veterans that are going to help the younger players elevate their level of playing and eventually make more cap room in the 2012-2013 year.

So why with all of the young talent we have on this team. Does the idea keep on plaguing this blog of trading all our young talent for amare or bosh. It is going completely against what this organization has been doing for the past 3 years. if we do something like trading for a big name that will help us next year to maybe make the playoffs, then we will be stuck in a perpetual state of sucking. if amare or bosh gets traded to us either one is going to opt out of his contact next year and leave us with nothing again.

There is a lot to be said for the chemistry of a team and how well they work together. In the right system Stephon Marbury would be an all-star so would Michael Redd and countless others. It's working together that our team needs. These last 10 games we have seen some bad and some good. When its good we pass the ball and use team work. When its bad its isolation leading to no penatration. Someone will jack up a shot 15 times until it falls. Then we cheer because we are starting to make up for the defect that was just created by that same behavior.

if this team was together for the next couple of years we might see some types of improvement like we now see with Portland. so how about this, we keep this team try to draft some good players and look for improvement in our youngsters. if it doesn't work out then all we've lost is another 7 or so years. what's that to a GSW fan anyway.
